This spec home investor came to DSA with a unique challenge: to create a residence that could be sold for 8-10 million dollars on a 2-3 million dollar construction budget. The investor gave the design team complete creative control on the project, giving way to an opportunity for the team to pursue anything and everything as long as it fit in the construction budget. Out of this challenge was born a stunning modern/contemporary home that carries an atmosphere that is both luxurious and comfortable. The residence features a first floor owners’ suite, study, glass lined wine cellar, entertainment retreat, spacious great room, pool deck & lanai, bonus room, terrace, and five upstairs bedrooms. The lot chosen for the home sits on the beautiful St. Petersburg waterfront, and Designers made sure to take advantage of this at every angle of the home, creating sweeping views that flow between the exterior and interior spaces. The home boasts wide open spaces created by long-span trusses, and floor to ceiling glass and windows that promote natural light throughout the home. The living spaces in the home flow together as part of one contiguous interior space, reflecting a more casual and relaxed way of life.

Our friends at Urbane New Haven brought us in on this high end residential installation to help bring their idea to life. We worked directly with the lead designer on details of the layout and functional aesthetics of the finished installation. The finish we landed on is a custom mixed, hand-applied weathered black patina over steel.
The custom fridge panels were made to spec to cover two 7’ Sub Zero units. We designed the handles to be both minimal and massive to fit the weighty feel of the doors.
Matching drawers and cabinet doors were fabricated for the pull out freezer units on the adjacent wall. Each of these doors were custom installed to disappear into the wall when closed.
The wall paneling and fireplace surround were installed using a custom wall mounting system we devised to allow for easy installation without the use ov any visible fasteners and no on site welding…trick stuff indeed!
The 17’ steel fireplace mantle in the living room was designed and fabricated to seamlessly span the entire wall which gives it a appropriately immense monolithic scale to the already huge fireplace hearth.

Single Wall Design Solution:
Problem: 650 sq. ft. 1 bedroom apartment needed to be redesigned to allow the new child to take the bedroom, and the parents to live, work, and entertain in the former living room.
Solution: Prototype 1.0 is the Single Wall Design Solution, designed to optimize space along a wall, 18" deep, to be used in a single room and provide a bedroom, office, living room, bar, and storage. It allows for the family's daily needs for 24 hours in their small apartment. Fully integrated and changeable, things are made available when they are needed and hidden when they are not.
Results:
We used the least amount of square footage to maximize the arrangement of the family's home, which resulted in less time wasted, performing activities, or looking for things as there is a place for everything.
Our prototype is financially savvy because it allows the living room to do more in a 24-hour span, showing that we only need our bed and night tables for 8 hours of the day, and the other hours of the day we pay for square footage not used.
These pieces were designed to be standard sizes so they could be interchangeable, providing a custom layout per client. Life is dynamic, and so space should be too. Our prototype 1.0 introduces a new lifestyle to its users, encouraging wellbeing by design.

We helped the Lee family to renovate their one-bedroom apartment in the prime Upper West Side location. The clients wanted to complete a gut renovation of all rooms, including the kitchen and bathroom remodel.
The design concept was a delightful blend of contemporary functionality and timeless charm, breathing new life into the apartment.
The construction team spared no detail as they completed the apartment renovation. Every inch, from walls to ceilings, floors to closets, doors to windows, was skillfully revitalized. Thoughtfully organized closets brought harmony and efficiency, while new light fixtures cast a warm and inviting glow.
The kitchen became the family’s favorite with its pristine, all-white cabinets and brand-new stainless steel appliances that gleamed under the gentle caress of sunlight. Accentuating the space were natural wood shelves and hexagon tile backsplash which added a geometric flair, transforming the room into a visual masterpiece.
During the bathroom remodel every fixture, from the bathtub to the toilet, from the vanity to the medicine cabinet, has been gracefully replaced, ushering in an era of modernity and comfort. A light blue accent wall tile harmoniously merged with a sleek glass shower door, resulting in an ambiance that was both contemporary and inviting.
In the span of just a few short weeks, the Lee family's vision has been brought to life, unveiling a home that is not only a testament to their style but also a space that seamlessly enhances functionality and comfort.

Our clients wanted a REAL master bathroom with enough space for both of them to be in there at the same time. Their house, built in the 1940’s, still had plenty of the original charm, but also had plenty of its original tiny spaces that just aren’t very functional for modern life.
The original bathroom had a tiny stall shower, and just a single vanity with very limited storage and counter space. Not to mention kitschy pink subway tile on every wall. With some creative reconfiguring, we were able to reclaim about 25 square feet of space from the bedroom. Which gave us the space we needed to introduce a double vanity with plenty of storage, and a HUGE walk-in shower that spans the entire length of the new bathroom!
While we knew we needed to stay true to the original character of the house, we also wanted to bring in some modern flair! Pairing strong graphic floor tile with some subtle (and not so subtle) green tones gave us the perfect blend of classic sophistication with a modern glow up.
Our clients were thrilled with the look of their new space, and were even happier about how large and open it now feels!

The Soaking Tub! I love working with clients that have ideas that I have been waiting to bring to life. All of the owner requests were things I had been wanting to try in an Oasis model. The table and seating area in the circle window bump out that normally had a bar spanning the window; the round tub with the rounded tiled wall instead of a typical angled corner shower; an extended loft making a big semi circle window possible that follows the already curved roof. These were all ideas that I just loved and was happy to figure out. I love how different each unit can turn out to fit someones personality.
The Oasis model is known for its giant round window and shower bump-out as well as 3 roof sections (one of which is curved). The Oasis is built on an 8x24' trailer. We build these tiny homes on the Big Island of Hawaii and ship them throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

This cozy rustic cabin living room centers on a soaring stacked stone fireplace beneath a vaulted, wood clad ceiling, with walls of windows overlooking the surrounding trees. Reclaimed Wood Flooring runs throughout the space, Reclaimed Wood Paneling covers the vaulted ceiling, Reclaimed Wood Timbers form the exposed beam structure overhead, and a Reclaimed Wood Mantel spans the stone fireplace surround, bringing natural texture and warmth into this inviting retreat.
Every piece of reclaimed wood at Manomin Resawn Timbers is salvaged from 19th and early 20th century barns, factories, and warehouses, structures built during the Industrial Revolution from old growth hardwoods that grew slower and denser than the trees available today. Through our detailed process of denailing, kiln drying, and precision milling, that history is preserved and prepared for a new life in modern homes.
