This Ponce Inlet remodel was a pleasure to design after our client sustained water damage. This beautiful kitchen features our Homecrest cabinet line with a mixture of Bayport (beaded) and Sedona (shaker) door styles in "Alpine" finish. Cambria Kelvingrove countertops add casual sophistication to the space. We love our client's updated beach style!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a homeowner in possession of a leaking roof must be in want of repairs.
And though it makes for a fun Jane Austen allusion, an unreliable roof is a serious problem. Water can cause a great deal of damage in a short time, so this homeowner wisely called us in to help.
The roof of this custom-designed home was leaking in myriad locations, so our team removed the existing roof decks to access and repair the exterior trouble spots.
The new deck was constructed atop a Bison pedestal system; in fact, we custom-designed the deck in panels that can be lifted for seasonal roof sweeping and simpler maintenance.
The various roof decks were rebuilt with both reclaimed decking and new ipe decking. Our team also removed several faulty parapet walls and replaced them with a mixture of stainless steel cables and ipe railings.
Finally, we took steps to prevent future drainage problems by applying a sealcoat to the exterior stucco and creating a copper drip-edge too.
Leaking roofs are no laughing matter, but thanks to Houseplay, this story — like Austen’s Pride and Prejudice — had a happy ending.

This primary bathroom remodel in Olney, Maryland, showcases a sophisticated transition from traditional architecture to a clean, modern aesthetic. The design centers on a high-contrast palette of crisp whites, deep blacks, and warm wood tones, creating a bright and functional sanctuary.
Design Highlights
Walk-In Shower: The curbless shower features large-format marble-veined wall tiles paired with a dark grey hexagonal mosaic floor. Matte black hardware, including a rain showerhead and a handheld wand, provides a bold, contemporary finish.
Vanity & Storage: Dual white shaker-style vanities are topped with white quartz counters featuring subtle grey veining. Minimalist matte black faucets and pulls tie the look together. A custom window bench with drawer storage sits beneath the large arched window, maximizing utility and seating.
Lighting & Fixtures: Modern four-light vanity fixtures with textured glass shades provide ample illumination. Rounded-corner black framed mirrors add a soft geometric touch to the workspace.
Flooring: Durable luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring in a multi-tonal wood finish adds warmth to the space and balances the cooler tones of the cabinetry and tile.
Architectural Features: The original arched window and vaulted ceiling were preserved and enhanced with custom plantation shutters, allowing for privacy without sacrificing the room's natural light.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of using large-format tile in a shower?
Large-format tiles create a more seamless appearance by reducing the number of grout lines. This not only makes the space feel larger and more open but also significantly reduces the surface area where mold and mildew can accumulate, making the shower easier to clean.
Why choose matte black hardware over chrome or brushed nickel?
Matte black serves as a strong "anchor" in a white bathroom, providing a high-contrast, modern look that hides water spots and fingerprints more effectively than polished finishes. It pairs exceptionally well with various wood tones and stone patterns.
Is luxury vinyl plank (LVP) a good choice for a bathroom?
Yes, high-quality LVP is 100% waterproof, making it an ideal choice for bathrooms. It offers the aesthetic warmth of hardwood—which is susceptible to moisture damage—with the durability and slip resistance needed for a wet environment.
How does a custom window bench improve a bathroom layout?
Beyond providing a place to sit, a custom bench utilizes the often-underused space beneath a window for extra storage. It creates a cohesive, "built-in" look that ties the vanities together and adds a high-end, furniture-like quality to the room.
What is the advantage of a "design-build" approach for a remodel like this?
The design-build model integrates both the design and construction phases into a single contract. This ensures that the aesthetic vision stays within the established budget and allows for better communication between the designers and the craftsmen during the actual renovation.

At the beginning of the project, we identified issues with the existing subfloor and a damaged plumbing line. Our team addressed these underlying problems by repairing the plumbing system and replacing the affected subfloor areas to create a safe, stable, and properly prepared foundation for the bathroom renovation.

We loved updating this 1977 house giving our clients a more transitional kitchen, living room and powder bath. Our clients are very busy and didn’t want too many options. Our designers narrowed down their selections and gave them just enough options to choose from without being overwhelming.
In the kitchen, we replaced the cabinetry without changing the locations of the walls, doors openings or windows. All finished were replaced with beautiful cabinets, counter tops, sink, back splash and faucet hardware.
In the Master bathroom, we added all new finishes. There are two closets in the bathroom that did not change but everything else did. We.added pocket doors to the bedroom, where there were no doors before. Our clients wanted taller 36” height cabinets and a seated makeup vanity, so we were able to accommodate those requests without any problems. We added new lighting, mirrors, counter top and all new plumbing fixtures in addition to removing the soffits over the vanities and the shower, really opening up the space and giving it a new modern look. They had also been living with the cold and hot water reversed in the shower, so we also fixed that for them!
In their den, they wanted to update the dark paneling, remove the large stone from the curved fireplace wall and they wanted a new mantel. We flattened the wall, added a TV niche above fireplace and moved the cable connections, so they have exactly what they wanted. We left the wood paneling on the walls but painted them a light color to brighten up the room.
There was a small wet bar between the den and their family room. They liked the bar area but didn’t feel that they needed the sink, so we removed and capped the water lines and gave the bar an updated look by adding new counter tops and shelving. They had some previous water damage to their floors, so the wood flooring was replaced throughout the den and all connecting areas, making the transition from one room to the other completely seamless. In the end, the clients love their new space and are able to really enjoy their updated home and now plan stay there for a little longer!

Second story deck was falling apart from neglect and water damage. The entire deck surface was removed and the deck elevation was raised up to eliminate the step down access and match the architectural lines of the rest of the home. On a clear day you an easily see downtown Mpls. from this turn-of-the-century neighborhood.

Having evergreens on your property is an extraordinary way to include color that will stay fresh all year long. Knowing how to take care of your evergreens is also important if you want them to thrive long-term. How you plant your evergreens and where you plant them is important, but their maintenance equally critical.
You should always fortify your evergreens by watering them liberally and mulching their soil beds. This will help reduce any damage caused by winds, cold weather, and intense sun exposure. Pruning on a consistent schedule will also ensure that your evergreen always looks neat, healthy, and green.
How to Properly Care for Evergreens
Evergreens are very low-maintenance trees but they still require care. Neglected plants will dry out and wither which has the contrary effect of what you intended for when you planted them.
Mulching & Watering
The level of moisture in the soil will determine how well an evergreen can handle winter conditions and dry conditions. Adding wood chips or shredded bark mulch around the bottom of your plant will help lock in soil moisture. Make sure this is close to the tree’s drip line.
Adding organic materials to your mulch, such as compost, will further boost the nutrient levels in the soil. This, in turn, will help your evergreen grow strong, healthy and green. Make sure you water your plant regularly to maintain soil moisture levels.

For this roof replacement in Philadelphia, PA, we replaced the home'es existing 25-year-old shingles with a new standing seam metal roof. The home's shingles took damage from a tree falling as well, so the homeowners were looking to for a significant improvement to durability as well as energy efficiency. The home's new standing seam metal roof is actually built to resist hurricane-level winds and debris impacts. On top of that, the metal reflects heat back to the source, meaning lower heating and cooling costs down the line.

This kitchen was remodeled with both new cabinets and refacing some existing cabinets. The new cabinets were done with Bridgewood while the refaced cabinets were done with Walzcraft Rosecliff doors. The paint used was Linen with a dry wipe glaze while the island was done in Brownstone V2. A new Cambria countertop and custom tile backsplash were also installed. To complete the remodel we installed a spice rack pullout, a double trash pullout and 4 sets of new pull out shelves in the base cabinets with heavy duty ball bearing glides.
We added a chef’s pantry where the refrigerator used to be, and moved the refrigerator across the room to a blank wall and added all new cabinetry around it (custom microwave cabinet, drawer bank etc.) And refaced it to match.

This West Chester PA kitchen was in need of a remodel. We started from fresh. After the kitchen was demoed and extensive repairs were done to the severely water damaged laundry room flooring and framing and a new window and garage entry door installed we were ready to begin. The cabinetry layout was redesigned using Fabuwood cabinetry in the Fusion Blanc door style. This recessed panel door has clean lines for a more transitional look. A new pantry area with wine storage and wall mounted TV replaced the existing drywall pantry. The flooring throughout the kitchen, laundry, and powder room is 6”x36” Natural plank tile. New granite countertops in Fantasy brown along with new tile backsplash with a decorative feature over the range were also installed. Great new Kitchen Aid appliances complete the look. In all a total transformation. We hope the homeowners enjoy their new kitchen for years to come.
