We loved updating this 1977 house giving our clients a more transitional kitchen, living room and powder bath. Our clients are very busy and didn’t want too many options. Our designers narrowed down their selections and gave them just enough options to choose from without being overwhelming. In the kitchen, we replaced the cabinetry without changing the locations of the walls, doors openings or windows. All finished were replaced with beautiful cabinets, counter tops, sink, back splash and faucet hardware. In the Master bathroom, we added all new finishes. There are two closets in the bathroom that did not change but everything else did. We.added pocket doors to the bedroom, where there were no doors before. Our clients wanted taller 36” height cabinets and a seated makeup vanity, so we were able to accommodate those requests without any problems. We added new lighting, mirrors, counter top and all new plumbing fixtures in addition to removing the soffits over the vanities and the shower, really opening up the space and giving it a new modern look. They had also been living with the cold and hot water reversed in the shower, so we also fixed that for them! In their living room, they wanted to update the dark paneling, remove the large stone from the curved fireplace wall and they wanted a new mantel. We flattened the wall, added a TV niche above fireplace and moved the cable connections, so they have exactly what they wanted. We left the wood paneling on the walls but painted them a light color to brighten up the room. There was a small wet bar between the living room and their family room. They liked the bar area but didn’t feel that they needed the sink, so we removed and capped the water lines and gave the bar an updated look by adding new counter tops and shelving. They had some previous water damage to their floors, so the wood flooring was replaced throughout the den and all connecting areas, making the transition from one room to the other completely seamless. In the end, the clients love their new space and are able to really enjoy their updated home and now plan stay there for a little longer! This roof that we replaced in Longmont turned out really sharp. It is a CertainTeed Northgate Class IV asphalt shingle roof in the color Heather Blend. the roof is what is called a hip roof meaning that it does not have a lot of ridge lines. Because of that we could not install ridge vent - our preferred method of attic ventilation. Due to that we added a lot of slant back vents to increase the attic ventilation.

Rocky Mountain Rustic European White Oak 9/16 x 9 ½ x 96" Rocky Mountain This wide plank hardwood floor is brushed, it has grain effects, distressed, damage edges, nail marks all done by hand. The use of Heveas or Rubber core makes this floor environmentally friendly. Finish: 8% UV acrylic urethane with scratch resistant. The original fireplace was tired and worn. Smoke damaged, brick that had been painted over and over again to the point where you couldn't even see the brick lines. So we created an impactful, but yet warm space by installing new quartz stone and shiplap at the top. It creates a warm inviting space that is sure to impress

We first met our clients when a home renovation project was almost complete. The front of the house had undergone a dramatic facelift with the addition of an extension of the façade and a deep covered porch, and the landscape needed major help. A range of disparate issues faced us: post-construction soil on the site, an existing bed of massive boulders near the new entrance walk, and a badly-eroded culvert area on the side of the property on County land. Existing plantings were badly damaged or overgrown. The most serious issue, though, was a massive drainage problem due to the site’s topography; in heavy rainstorms a river literally tumbled downhill past the front of the house, cutting a trench on either side of the walkway. We turned the site’s challenges into its solutions to give the owners the beautiful garden they wanted. Using the line of the existing swale, we created a dry streambed to direct rainwater towards the existing culvert, which we also filled with river jacks and boulders. The streambed area is planted with plants that can withstand periodic flooding as well as occasional drought, and that provide seasonal color. The 2nd story was held up as we addressed rot and sag caused form water damage over time. We both repaired and replaced existing columns, adjusted the roof line and pitch by adapting column height, removed existing roof and gutter and replaced with new TPO roof and copper pan gutter, installed new custom made samples mahogany handrail and newels to match existing historic details, painted and trenches to moved water from downspouts away from structure, all while maintaining the structural integrity.

The culprit. The coupling on this toilet supply line broke and came free running like an open faucet for 12 + hours. Although unconfirmed, my guess is that someone used a wrench or pliers to tighten this plastic fitting. Folks, don't do this. It is designed for hand-tightening. Using pliers or a wrench can damage the plastic and lead to failure...

The photographs below are of rough Chinese Slate floor tiles installed at a house in Dorchester; they had not been deep cleaned in a long time and the combination of pets and grandchildren had taken its toll on the floor. Rough Slate from China is a relatively inexpensive product and although long lasting and value for money the texture of the Slate is difficult to maintain and thus difficult to keep clean even if fully sealed To clean the tiles I used a strong dilution of Tile Doctor Pro-Clean which was left to soak into the Slate for a good ten minutes before working it in with a buffing machine fitted with a black scrubbing pad. This action removed the ground in dirt and any old sealer and a stiff brush was then run along the grout lines with more Pro-Clean to get them as clean as possible. The floor was then rinsed thoroughly and any stubborn areas retreated; a wet vacuum was used to extract the soiled water from the surface of the stone in order to get it as dry as possible. The floor was left to dry overnight and I returned the next day to seal using three coats of Tile Doctor Seal and Go sealer which is a water based sealer (so no smell) that leaves a nice subtle shine to floor. The slate and the grout looked really dull and dirty before we started and now the floor looks like it was recently laid. For aftercare we don’t recommend the use of a Floor Steamer as they work on a 100 degrees and this damages the sealer; for regular cleaning use Tile Doctor Ph Neutral Cleaner using a two bucket system, whereby you apply the cleaning solution with a jug, wipe the floor and then squeeze off the excess into the second bucket, this stops you reapplying dirty water onto a clean floor. For this kitchen remodeling project, our homeowner had a water leak behind their sink and dishwasher that caused extensive damage. We needed to tear out all the cabinets and take everything down to the studs. Once the walls were repaired, we started the remodel by installing a new Pocono Gray 6x36 floor. Next up are the new cabinets from our Kitchen Solvers Legacy Collection line. To finish this kitchen transformation, we added a new white quartz countertop and a Tetramoda stone glossy 3x12 glazed ceramic backsplash. Check out this stunning new kitchen!
