Knowing the areas and resources of Lake Burton is our specialty Lake Burton is a 2,775 acre man-made lake with 62 miles of shoreline located in the northeastern corner of Georgia in Rabun County. It is the first lake in a five-lake series called the Tallulah River Watershed that follows the original course of the Tallulah River. The series of lakes starts with Lake Burton as the northernmost lake followed by Lake Seed, Lake Rabun, Lake Tallulah Falls and the eastern arm of Lake Tugalo (the western arm is formed by the Chattooga River. The lakes are owned and operated by the Georgia Power Company to generate hydroelectric energy for Georgia's largest city, Atlanta. At one time these lakes were the largest producers of electricity in the state of Georgia. Now, they only provide peak power supply. The lake was built in a deep valley located along a 10 mile section of the Tallulah River. The Lake Burton Dam was closed on December 22, 1919 and the lake started to fill. The dam is a gravity concrete dam, with a height of 128 feet and a span of 1,100 feet. The spillway is equipped with eight gates 22 feet wide by 6.6 feet high. The total capacity at an elevation of 1,866.6 feet is 108,000 acre-ft, of which 106,000 acre-ft is usable storage. The generating capacity of the dam is 6,120 kilowatts (two units).Lake Burton is the highest Georgia Power lake in Georgia. Lake Burton gets its named from the town of Burton, which was the second largest town in Rabun County with a population of approximately 200 but now lies below the lake's surface. The town (and the lake) was named after local prominent citizen Jeremiah Burton and was situated along the road from Clayton, Georgia to the Nacoochee Valley. Andrew Jackson Ritchie served as the postmaster for the area for several years. Gold was first discovered in Rabun County where Dicks Creek and the Tallulah River come together and was the reason for the town's founding in the early 1800s. The Lake Burton Fish Hatchery and Moccasin Creek State Park are located on the western side of the lake. Lake Burton is home to several species of fish, including Spotted Bass, Largemouth Bass, White Bass, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Redear Sunfish, White Catfish, Walleye, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Yellow Perch. The residents of Lake Burton are a mix of permanent residents and seasonal vacationers who together make-up the Lake Burton Civic Association, a local organization who goal is to maintain the lake through volunteer clean-ups and other such events. Tri-level aluminum deck with firetable. LED rope lighting was used under the handrails to provide ambient lighting. A cable railing system was installed to allow for a more broad visual sight line from any point on the deck. Deckscapes designed and built this porch in the Davidson, NC area. We worked closely with the homeowner to understand what they were looking for in an outdoor room and how we could work together to accomplish their vision. The floor of the porch is 5" Tongue and Groove treated pine decking. It was stained with a Sherwin Williams oil based stain to match their interior hardwood flooring. The porch walls are constructed with 6"x6" Cox laminated columns and a 2x6 mid rail along with black, round aluminum ballusters. EZE Breeze vertical 4 Track porch windows in white frames and charcoal fiberglass screens were added to the exterior along with glass window panes in all the gable areas. The porch roof is a shed roof design with an open gable in the center. This makes trimming the ceiling slightly more difficult but really adds to the look and openness of the room's final feel (plus we love the way it looks when completed). Recessed lighting (6 cans) and 2 Hunter ceiling fans were added to the ceiling. A dimmer switch was added to the lights to really give the room some ambiance at night. The ceiling was finished in a Sherwin Williams semi transparent stain and the walls were painted white to match the house exterior trim. To complete the final product we added a 1x4 English lattice around the perimeter and painted it white to match the porch. We added some speakers inside the porch and a 36" Larson Savannah storm door from the stairs down to the paver patio. After the room was tastefully decorated by our clients I know that they will really Enjoy Being Outside.

This remodel consisted of a whole house transformation. We took this 3 bedroom dated home and turned it into a 5 bedroom award winning showpiece, all without an addition. By reworking the awkward floor plan and lowering the living room floor to be level with the rest of the house we were able to create additional space within the existing footprint of the home. What was once the small lack-luster master suite, is now 2 kids bedrooms that share a jack and jill bath. The master suite was relocated to the first floor, and the kitchen that was located right at the front door, is now located in the back of the home with great access to the patio overlooking the golf course. This 30,710 square foot site was unique in terrain and shape and was in close proximity to adjacent properties. These unique challenges initiated a truly unique piece of architecture. Planning of this residence was very complex as it weaved among the boulders. The owners were agnostic regarding style, yet wanted a warm palate with clean lines. The arrival point of the design journey was a desert interpretation of a prairie-styled home. The materials meet the surrounding desert with great harmony. Copper, undulating limestone, and Madre Perla quartzite all blend into a low-slung and highly protected home. Located in Estancia Golf Club, the 5,325 square foot (conditioned) residence has been featured in Luxe Interiors + Design’s September/October 2018 issue. This pool gives you the feeling of swimming into the landscape. The broad, straight line of the horizon and the long, slender vertical lines of the pool underscore the expansiveness of the property, whose size unquestionably contributes to the impact of its natural beauty. The design is rather understated, creating the impression of having been copied directly from the pool’s natural setting. The landscape and the garden have retained their prominent role despite the addition of the natural pool. The pool blends in unassumingly with its surroundings and is sizeable enough to allow for the swimming of long laps. A natural pool is the obvious choice for locations such as this. Natural materials and plant filters are without a doubt the ideal option for gardens like these. The beautiful property certainly contributes a great deal to the overall visual impression, but the pool - as close to nature as possible and reduced to essentials - has the look and feel of a body of water that was created here quite naturally. The addition of the wooden planks and the long, slender shape of the pool are visually very appealing. The water’s edge of the regeneration area blends harmoniously into the landscape and appears as if it had grown there naturally over several years.
