Our clients wanted to replace an existing suburban home with a modern house at the same Lexington address where they had lived for years. The structure the clients envisioned would complement their lives and integrate the interior of the home with the natural environment of their generous property. The sleek, angular home is still a respectful neighbor, especially in the evening, when warm light emanates from the expansive transparencies used to open the house to its surroundings. The home re-envisions the suburban neighborhood in which it stands, balancing relationship to the neighborhood with an updated aesthetic.
The floor plan is arranged in a “T” shape which includes a two-story wing consisting of individual studies and bedrooms and a single-story common area. The two-story section is arranged with great fluidity between interior and exterior spaces and features generous exterior balconies. A staircase beautifully encased in glass stands as the linchpin between the two areas. The spacious, single-story common area extends from the stairwell and includes a living room and kitchen. A recessed wooden ceiling defines the living room area within the open plan space.
Separating common from private spaces has served our clients well. As luck would have it, construction on the house was just finishing up as we entered the Covid lockdown of 2020. Since the studies in the two-story wing were physically and acoustically separate, zoom calls for work could carry on uninterrupted while life happened in the kitchen and living room spaces. The expansive panes of glass, outdoor balconies, and a broad deck along the living room provided our clients with a structured sense of continuity in their lives without compromising their commitment to aesthetically smart and beautiful design.

We designed a new front walk with more stone steps to eliminate the odd pitch of the existing front walk. Lannon stone medallions mimic the tri-window detail above on the home.

Luxury Lockdown: stunning backyard patio and poolside retreat in Roman Blend Travertine and Bucks Country Ledgestone make staying home a lot more enjoyable.

We converted the mudroom into a home office fit for a boss lady. Her office was voted the best home office in the peak of work from home days during the Corona virus lockdown days. We started with finding this beautiful whimsical wallpaper with blues and pinks. The perfectly matching floating shelves make the wallpaper stand out even more.

This 1600+ square foot basement was a diamond in the rough. We were tasked with keeping farmhouse elements in the design plan while implementing industrial elements. The client requested the space include a gym, ample seating and viewing area for movies, a full bar , banquette seating as well as area for their gaming tables - shuffleboard, pool table and ping pong. By shifting two support columns we were able to bury one in the powder room wall and implement two in the custom design of the bar. Custom finishes are provided throughout the space to complete this entertainers dream.

The phone rings early in the morning, and it’s a long-time client who treats our team of skilled craftsmen like family, continually lauding our work. It’s these types of clients we all have and all love and, of course, will drop anything to help.
As I navigate my usual morning commute, I’m greeted by a forlorn sigh and the description of the freak-fire which destroyed their beloved outdoor living area (along with the home’s family room, kitchen, and master bedroom). Getting past the initial shock, we had to act quickly to ensure their safety. Quite the start to the morning.
Challenges with this project run deeper than just the build: security of the entire affected area, good and sensitive communication, and navigating a pandemic lockdown can cause even the strongest-willed person to throw their hands up and call it quits.
When the fire broke out, it took out the entire backyard and portions of the home, making the structure unlivable. We needed to mitigate the fire damage and make sure the house was secure against break-ins, but also, no damage existed that could cause harm to the neighbors.
It’s these moments where relationships matter. The client needed a trusted and established partner to begin the rebuilding process. Professional knowledge is only one part of the puzzle. It’s here an empathetic ear, and extra solace goes far to remind the client all can be rebuilt.
Lastly, none of us saw the difficulties a pandemic would bring. At a time when a person was about to use every square foot of their home to shelter-in-place, our client would be in the middle of a rebuild with no use of their beautiful outdoor living area to get through the day. Luckily, we were able to work with the city of Clyde Hill and continue through an emergency services waiver.
What was done? The outdoor living area included a complete rebuild of the gazebo, including a large sitting area and fire pit. Stone patios were replaced, and additional stone was chosen to create a secondary, uncovered living area with a fire pit to enjoy during the summer months.
The build is a testament to superb craftsmanship and design. However, we believe excellence also includes the holistic approach to listen deeply, empathize and understand a client’s history, external pressures of the world, and build community and relationship.

A new wave of rattan outdoor furniture has landed. The project docked in North Naples amid our lockdown. With tailor made sectionals that fit like a glove into the niche outdoor space and deck chairs that never looked so swell.
For starters, this successful coastal style was a perfect fit for the owner who loves clutter-free surfaces, nautical-inspired flourishes and enjoys finishes with luminescent light bouncing about, hence the use of a fair amount of glass tops.
Navy wavy blue wicker, back dropped with warm golds from the walls of the home, natural tones, Sunbrella creams and of course, scatter cushions that bring it all together, these are hallmarks of the clients’ personal coastal style, creating a calm and brilliantly realized space for maximum relaxation.
Although this Naples home is not located or in close proximity to the beach, the space played to the vibes with a nautical theme in place.
Details are at the heart of all Shape of Wicker Rattan/Wicker outdoor furniture.

This outdoor space is everything we love about outdoor design.
An open canvas of layout with clean lines. A challenge or two to overcome, regarding best space design , but the plus of a to-die-for pool area to play around with. The custom wicker accents and simple palette provided the perfect backdrop for the stunning double mirrored sectional, which makes a big statement with an unexpected burst of elegance and nautical color for the overall space.
