A shallow wall on hinges is home to the television and the electric fireplace. Access to each lies behind the wall. Sconces adorn each side of the fireplace. Nautical map wallpaper is applied to the ceiling bringing interest to what is usually a forgotten surface. How pleasantly surprising!

Home office - 1950s home office idea in Los Angeles

These fun clients enlisted us after building a beautiful house by themselves for many months. They had painted themselves into a bit of a corner stylistically and knew when to ask for help. We salvaged most of what they had chosen (as it was good and fine), but they had half modern/half traditional cape cod hodgepodge style all in a contemporary new construction house. We had them reselect some new furnishings that would help them achieve the overall look, feel, and function they were wanting. We loved working with these clients because they were not afraid of whimsy and were open to most ideas Jamie had for them. My client and her family spend summers in Martha's Vineyard so they wanted to keep the beach feeling with them year round - we accomplished this by adding a maritime map of the island on the ceiling with some art and buoys they have collected over the years.

When a 7 year old Brooklyn hip-kid is also an animal lover, you get this woodland boy's room, designed to grow and maximize storage. This small kid's bedroom features a storage bed, wall shelves, a spacious desk hutch, and a storage ottoman to accommodate ample toys and books, as well as a custom designed closet to suit a growing child's needs. Hipster Animals removable wallpaper is fun for a 7 year old, but still cheeky and cool enough for a teen. And while woodland animals abound, they are balanced by mature decor elements like neutral colors, dark blues, boyish plaid, and chic wool and leather textures meant to grow with child. This room is one of our favorite small space designs - it's fun, personalized, and makes the space look bigger--while also providing storage and function.
