This growing family needed more living space in their 1926 St. Paul, MN Bungalow, and had great potential in their unfinished attic for a new master suite. Castle began working with the city to grandfather some existing conditions in, like the steeper stairs and lower ceiling height to comply with building codes. New insulation, interior walls, electrical, heating, and a full interior finish was planned. The finished space incorporates traditional millwork matching the lower level of the home, a custom built-in bookshelf, new white doors, and pre-finished white oak hardwood floors in a rich Licorice stain. The dark floors and oil-bronze accents throughout the space really anchors the room and completes an overall bright color pallet with high contrast. In the new bathroom, a cement tile floor was selected to tie in the homeowner’s classy flair. Switching the finishes to polished brass inside the bathroom really brings a lux and regal feel to the space. Paired with traditional subway tile, white vanity, refurbished vintage medicine cabinet, and neutral walls, the new bathroom is elegant, yet understated. One of our favorite features is the use of the two existing dormers. One dormer was converted into a new walk-in closet with custom glass closet doors, so the light can still shine into the bedroom. First time home buyers found a foreclosed home that was abandoned for over a year. The previous owners removed ducting, copper pipes, punched holes in doors and removed the furnace and water heater unit. Finesse, Inc. was hired to completely renovate two bathroom, kitchen, bring the garage up to code, install a new furnace and ducting and upgrade the electrical with a sub-panel. Re-configuring the walls in both bathrooms allowed to create a real master bath. During the course of construction the clients agreed to open up one wall to create a better flow between the living room and kitchen. Many decisions were made together to create a beautiful and peaceful environment for a young family just getting started. PC: Aaron Gilless

This Master suite is just one of the additions we planned and built for this home. Bedroom view was planned to show this breathtaking view of the backyard.

This custom outdoor living project features a beautifully designed composite deck built with premium TimberTech decking in Coastline and Dark Hickory, creating a striking two-tone finish with clean picture-framed detailing. The layout includes a spacious main deck and a carefully designed switchback staircase to maximize yard access while maintaining comfortable head clearance beneath the structure. The deck surface showcases Coastline field boards bordered and accented with Dark Hickory, including a centered divider that allows for symmetrical 16' board runs. Picture-framed stairs continue the refined look, combining Dark Hickory frames with Coastline interior boards for a cohesive design. A modern cable railing system with black fascia-mounted posts provides safety without obstructing the view, while square picket railings along the stairs ensure durability and code compliance. The sleek black rail system pairs perfectly with the contemporary composite decking tones. Below the deck, an undercover ceiling system with white panels and integrated drainage creates a dry, usable space beneath the structure, expanding the functional outdoor living area. Pre-primed wood framing and clean gutter integration help direct water to a dedicated drain system. The project also includes a switchback stair landing and carefully planned structural details to ensure long-term performance and comfort. Designed for both style and durability, this custom deck provides a low-maintenance outdoor space perfect for entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying the outdoors year-round.

This remodel started with a blank slate! It was a new home with no personality at all. Straight beige throughout. The goal was to to add some style and upscale the look which we did new cabinets, fixtures, sinks, color, and a totally custom shower stall.
