PROJECT DESCRIPTION & RESIDENCE OWNER’S REVIEW
My husband and I came across some of Alex Sukhomlinov’s beautifully handcrafted pieces of “Décor” at an antique shop in Vancouver about 4 years ago. We were so impressed with his work that we set up an appointment to meet him at his studio. At that time, we were setting up law offices in Vancouver and were looking for items to add to the overall ‘Old World Charm’ to accompany several French Empire Antiques we had brought up from L.A. His abilities as an artist and a master craftsman were matched equally by his passion and vision for what we were looking for.
Thrilled with the finished offices we then invited him to our home in Cochrane, Alberta and that is when we let him have free reign on designing our library décor and add finishing touches to our living room. We have had several world-renowned artists and many world travellers to our home since the completion of Alex’s work. The overall comments are: THIS IS IN CANADA??? THIS IS BETTER THAN ANY MANSION I’VE EVER BEEN TO!! THIS BLOWS NAPOLEAN’S LIBRARY OUT OF THE WATER!! THIS IS BETTER THAN VERSAILLES!! We are pleased to pass on any photos or answer any questions prospective clients may have. Alex was very easy and accommodating to work with. He takes enormous pride in his work. There is NO ONE ELSE that can do what he does. He creates Masterpieces that are so worthy of his time and effort. We are very honoured to have him contribute to our beautiful home and look forward to future projects with him.

This narrow, two-story cottage has a modest floor plan and a charming exterior. The roofline is accented with a shed dormer and the gables feature board-and-batten. The kitchen is at the heart of the home and a sun tunnel brings in natural light while a pantry is just steps away. A coffered ceiling tops the great room and a fireplace creates a focal point. When the weather is nice, step out to a spacious porch with skylights. Two equally sized master suites are on the first floor while a third bedroom and bathroom are upstairs with a bonus room.

Dating back to the 18th century, the chesterfield sofa was once the mark of class and stature. Today, it's symbolic of great taste. Our Barrow Sofa masterfully replicates this iconic British design – button tufted back with a low, cushioned seat, rolled arms with nailhead trim, and the characteristic equal back and arm height.

A ground up design and build of a modern seven bedroom primary residence incorporating sustainable design principles built for an international family of four. The concept revolved around the need for environmental sustainability while having plentiful communal spaces to create ease for a vibrant family and their guests. Equally important was that the private spaces functioned as a retreat.
Natural light creates shifting patterns on the opposing wall of the glass paned hallway leading from the main house past the guest bedrooms and to the master suite. Subtle color palette and interior design use contrasting tactile elements to create an environment of luxury and accessibility. The views of the pool and garden through the large and continuous windows enable an ever-present connection to nature.

One of the few truly American architectural styles, the Craftsman/Prairie style was developed around the turn of the century by a group of Midwestern architects who drew their inspiration from the surrounding landscape. The spacious yet cozy Thompson draws from features from both Craftsman/Prairie and Farmhouse styles for its all-American appeal. The eye-catching exterior includes a distinctive side entrance and stone accents as well as an abundance of windows for both outdoor views and interior rooms bathed in natural light.
The floor plan is equally creative. The large floor porch entrance leads into a spacious 2,400-square-foot main floor plan, including a living room with an unusual corner fireplace. Designed for both ease and elegance, it also features a sunroom that takes full advantage of the nearby outdoors, an adjacent private study/retreat and an open plan kitchen and dining area with a handy walk-in pantry filled with convenient storage. Not far away is the private master suite with its own large bathroom and closet, a laundry area and a 800-square-foot, three-car garage. At night, relax in the 1,000-square foot lower level family room or exercise space. When the day is done, head upstairs to the 1,300 square foot upper level, where three cozy bedrooms await, each with its own private bath.

This primary bathroom balances warmth and precision in equal measure. A floating vanity in light rift-cut wood grounds the space, topped with a seamless white quartz counter that stretches the full run beneath an arched, frameless mirror. Brushed nickel fixtures—the waterfall faucet, cylindrical sconces, and a swing-arm makeup mirror—add quiet sophistication, while sage towels and soft gray tile flooring bring a fresh, spa-like calm to the room. It's a space designed for everyday ritual, elevated by clean lines and thoughtful craftsmanship throughout.

Kandinsky conveyed profound spirituality and inner human emotion through a visual language of abstract forms and colors that transcended cultural and physical boundaries. As part of the Art Studio Addition, Earth Sky Builders designed a bathroom that’s equal parts function and flair. This stunning bath blends classic character with crisp, contemporary lines—a hallmark of our approach as a detail-driven Atlanta home addition builder. Located off the new master suite, this space elevates daily routines into a calming ritual with rich material choices and thoughtful design.
Green ceramic wall tile sets the tone, bringing in a sense of nature and tranquility while giving a subtle nod to mid-century style. The custom tile installation extends into the walk-in shower, which is outfitted with glass panels to keep the room feeling airy and open. A classic black-and-white hex tile floor adds vintage personality underfoot, grounding the room in tradition while still feeling fresh and on-trend.
One of the standout features is the freestanding clawfoot tub—a sculptural centerpiece that invites long, relaxing soaks. Next to it, a semi-floating wood vanity anchors the space with warmth. Crafted with clean lines, natural wood grain, and sturdy iron legs, it’s topped with a sleek quartz sink, striking the perfect balance between old and new. These design choices echo the homeowner’s artistic sensibilities while providing daily comfort.
As an experienced Atlanta home addition designer and South Atlanta remodeler, Earth Sky Builders approached this bathroom with the same care and intentionality as the larger addition—maximizing layout, light, and longevity. Whether you’re restoring a historic home or modernizing your space, we’ll help you find the sweet spot where timeless aesthetics meet smart performance.

The glasswork captures it all - breath-taking views and wildlife. Stone and cedar shake make the home seem as if it has grown from nature. An impressive barrel-vault entryway leads into an equally impressive interior. Exposed wood beams and columns bring the outdoors inside. Flanking closets and art niches lead from the foyer to an open hall and great room. The dining room connects to the kitchen by a pass-thru. A bowed breakfast nook features a built-in banquette. Screened porches and open porches take living outside. The sleeping quarters are located on one side of the house, separate from the gathering rooms, and aside from the versatile bedroom/study, the master bedroom and secondary bedrooms have their own private baths and walk-in closets.

The architectural ornamentation, gabled roofs, new tower addition and stained glass windows on this stunning Victorian home are equally functional and decorative. Dating to the 1600’s, the original structure was significantly renovated during the Victorian era. The homeowners wanted to revive the elegance and detail from its historic heyday. The new tower addition features a modernized mansard roof and houses a new living room and master bedroom. Rosette details from existing interior paneling were used throughout the design, bringing cohesiveness to the interior and exterior. Ornate historic door hardware was saved and restored from the original home, and existing stained glass windows were restored and used as the inspiration for a new stained glass piece in the new stairway. Standing at the ocean’s edge, this home has been brought to renewed glory and stands as a show piece of Victorian architectural ideals.
