These customers were fun to work with. The husband like to shower, and the wife like to bathe, both had to work in the morning, and attend to there morning rituals at the same time. This often caused issues for them, so what did they do... Remodeled there Master bath with a side by side shower and whirlpool bath tub! That's compromise! Squaring the room and adding natural materials erased the memory of the lack luster space and converted it to a bright and welcoming spa oasis. The home was a new build in 2005 and it looked like all the builder’s material choices remained. The client was clear on their design direction but were challenged by the differing ceiling heights and were looking to hire a design-build firm that could resolve that issue. This local Glen Ellyn couple found us on Instagram (@kitchenstudioge, follow us ?). They loved our designs and felt like we fit their style. They requested a full primary bath renovation to include a large shower, soaking tub, double vanity with storage options, and heated floors. The wife also really wanted a separate make-up vanity. The biggest challenge presented to us was to architecturally marry the various ceiling heights and deliver a streamlined design. The existing layout worked well for the couple, so we kept everything in place, except we enlarged the shower and replaced the built-in tub with a lovely free-standing model. We also added a sitting make-up vanity. We were able to eliminate the awkward ceiling lines by extending all the walls to the highest level. Then, to accommodate the sprinklers and HVAC, lowered the ceiling height over the entrance and shower area which then opens to the 2-story vanity and tub area. Very dramatic! This high-end home deserved high-end fixtures. The homeowners also quickly realized they loved the look of natural marble and wanted to use as much of it as possible in their new bath. They chose a marble slab from the stone yard for the countertops and back splash, and we found complimentary marble tile for the shower. The homeowners also liked the idea of mixing metals in their new posh bathroom and loved the look of black, gold, and chrome. Although our clients were very clear on their style, they were having a difficult time pulling it all together and envisioning the final product. As interior designers it is our job to translate and elevate our clients’ ideas into a deliverable design. We presented the homeowners with mood boards and 3D renderings of our modern, clean, white marble design. Since the color scheme was relatively neutral, at the homeowner’s request, we decided to add of interest with the patterns and shapes in the room. We were first inspired by the shower floor tile with its circular/linear motif. We designed the cabinetry, floor and wall tiles, mirrors, cabinet pulls, and wainscoting to have a square or rectangular shape, and then to create interest we added perfectly placed circles to contrast with the rectangular shapes. The globe shaped chandelier against the square wall trim is a delightful yet subtle juxtaposition. The clients were overjoyed with our interpretation of their vision and impressed with the level of detail we brought to the project. It’s one thing to know how you want a space to look, but it takes a special set of skills to create the design and see it thorough to implementation. This family and had been living in their 1917 Tangletown neighborhood, Minneapolis home for over two years and it wasn’t meeting their needs. The lack of AC in the bathroom was an issue, the bathtub leaked frequently, and their lack of a shower made it difficult for them to use the space well. After researching Design/Build firms, they came to Castle on the recommendations from others. Wanting a clean “canvas” to work with, Castle removed all the flooring, plaster walls, tiles, plumbing and electrical fixtures. We replaced the existing window with a beautiful Marvin Integrity window with privacy glass to match the rest of the home. A bath fan was added as well as a much smaller radiator. Castle installed a new cast iron bathtub, tub filler, hand shower, new custom vanity from the Woodshop of Avon with Cambria Weybourne countertop and a recessed medicine cabinet. Wall sconces from Creative lighting add personality to the space. The entire space feels charming with all new traditional black and white hexagon floor tile, tiled shower niche, white subway tile bath tub surround, tile wainscoting and custom shelves above the toilet. Just outside the bathroom, Castle also installed an attic access ladder in their hallway, that is not only functional, but aesthetically pleasing. This project was nearly a complete gut renovation of an existing Victorian built in the 1890’s. We did save or rebuild major elements such as the exterior millwork, ornate entry stair and stained glass windows. An addition to the south side of the house integrated the rooflines and exterior details to create a seamless blend between the old and new. The goal of the project was to modernize the house and interior layout while still keeping the feel of a traditional home. Major elements in the scope included a completely new open kitchen, expanded living room, new master bedroom and bath suite, all new family baths and powder room. The renovation also included a library to house the owner’s extensive book collection as well as a basement workout and family room area. One primary request of the owners was to rid the house of a bat infestation problem due to poorly detailed roof vents. Once we rebuilt the roof soffits and provided new insulation for the house, the bat issue was resolved.

Completed in 2017, this project features midcentury modern interiors with copper, geometric, and moody accents. The design was driven by the client's attraction to a grey, copper, brass, and navy palette, which is featured in three different wallpapers throughout the home. As such, the townhouse incorporates the homeowner's love of angular lines, copper, and marble finishes. The builder-specified kitchen underwent a makeover to incorporate copper lighting fixtures, reclaimed wood island, and modern hardware. In the master bedroom, the wallpaper behind the bed achieves a moody and masculine atmosphere in this elegant "boutique-hotel-like" room. The children's room is a combination of midcentury modern furniture with repetitive robot motifs that the entire family loves. Like in children's space, our goal was to make the home both fun, modern, and timeless for the family to grow into. This project has been featured in Austin Home Magazine, Resource 2018 Issue.

The master bath got a new lease on life. In addition the laundry was a disaster, by rearranging appliances and turning an electrical panel to the hall to met code we were able to add a sink and countertop landing space

Ornate Downingtown, PA Master Bath remodel. Our design team moved and redesigned everything! Classic Cherry Cabinetry by Echelon in the Langdon door with mocha finish was chosen for the generous, new double vanity and tub skirt. Storage is not an issue with this vanity design. A large neo angle shower and attached tub deck with tiled walls and granite capped surfaces looks stunning. Using a clear frameless glass shower surround always lets in alot of natural light into the shower. The new shower half walls still give it a private feel. Natural toned tile with subtle accents adds to the classic styling.
