The house is about 100 years old and was originally on Pawleys Island proper. It was moved to “mainland” Pawleys island about 10 or 15 years ago and was purchased by owners in 2009. It’s a cozy (read small), happy house with lots of character that hugs you when you walk in. There were a couple of changes that absolutely needed to happen to make the house more functional. The first was a laundry room, the second was a place for us to eat as a family and entertain, and the third was a more functional kitchen. Here is the end result.

In the daylight basement, there was a beautiful room with a fireplace, large windows, a utility closet, and a separate bathroom. This was a perfect space to remodel the bathroom and make it a true master suite. We doubled the bathroom's size by taking a utility room in the garage. This allowed us to add floor space and large windows for maximum daylight. We also added an oversized tiled shower, double sinks, and a linen closet to help increase the function of the space. This home has a lot of charm with the unusual rooms in it. The house didn’t present itself in a true mid-century modern feel, but more on the traditional side. This allowed us to design with some unique features such as the patterned tile flooring, satin brass fixtures, floating vanity, and simple flat moldings. Updating the space gave this growing family a quiet oasis for mom and dad to wind down properly.

This 1950's home was in the need of an overhaul. Family of 4, they needed functional storage, easy to clean materials, and a proper master closet and bathroom. Timeless design drove the material selections and period appropriate fixtures made this house feel updated yet still fitting to the homes age. White custom cabinetry, classic tiles, mirrors and light fixtures were a perfect fit for this family. A large walk in shower, with a bench, in the new reconfigured master bathroom was an amazing transformation. All the bedrooms were outfitted with more useful storage. The master closet even got a full desk workspace with all the natural light you could ask for.

Our clients already had a cottage on Torch Lake that they loved to visit. It was a 1960s ranch that worked just fine for their needs. However, the lower level walkout became entirely unusable due to water issues. After purchasing the lot next door, they hired us to design a new cottage. Our first task was to situate the home in the center of the two parcels to maximize the view of the lake while also accommodating a yard area. Our second task was to take particular care to divert any future water issues. We took necessary precautions with design specifications to water proof properly, establish foundation and landscape drain tiles / stones, set the proper elevation of the home per ground water height and direct the water flow around the home from natural grade / drive. Our final task was to make appealing, comfortable, living spaces with future planning at the forefront. An example of this planning is placing a master suite on both the main level and the upper level. Part of the bungalow renovation is the the main floor bathroom this was actually 2 feet longer and a little large for a kids bathroom, and since the cheater ensuite was so small we eliminated some of the space to enlarge the master. We closed off the door to the kitchen/back door area, to enlarge the master, with the additonal space from the kids bath and using 1 foot from the master bedroom we were able to create a proper ensuite. Making a custom vanity with drawers (middle drawer is a U shaped), there is still alot of storage, add the medicine cabinet and fully glass corner shower, this space with a window is fully functioning and beautiful to boot!

This Master Bathroom design includes a recessed shelf built into the shower space to be covered by tile, as well as a mirrored medicine cabinet adding cosmetic storage space in addition to the vanity. The new exhaust fan will help keep the room properly ventilated for maximum enjoyment of long hot showers with no worry of steam. The marble tile selections chosen features various marbles and pearl options. In addition to the beautiful texture of the marbling, the tile designs chosen add interest and texture with the filigree and scalloped patterns. The combinations of crystal and metals in the chandeliers along with the mirrors are not only beautiful pieces to add to the space, but bounce light bringing a sparkle and brightness into this updated design.

Due to the high winds and dry conditions hanging baskets can be a challenge in this environment. Proper plant selection, location of the baskets and consistent watering are the key.

This master bathroom remodel in Reston was designed around a fully custom steam shower, creating a clean and comfortable space with a spa-like feel. The shower area was completely reworked by removing one of the existing walls and opening up the layout. We installed a frameless glass enclosure that runs to the ceiling, which is essential for proper steam retention while also making the space feel more open. Inside the shower, the entire enclosure was tiled from floor to ceiling, including the ceiling itself. This is an important detail for steam showers, along with proper waterproofing behind the tile to ensure long-term performance. To improve functionality, we added a built-in bench with a quartz top, along with two recessed niches for storage. The shower floor features a hexagon mosaic tile, which adds texture and provides better grip. The material selection throughout the bathroom was kept clean and consistent. We used MSI Eden Dolomite tile in both polished and matte finishes, paired with a Bianco Dolomite accent tile on the plumbing wall and inside the niches. The vanity area features Fabuwood Galaxy Indigo cabinets, combined with a Frost White quartz countertop and matte black hardware. This contrast helps define the space while keeping the overall look balanced. Additional updates included new recessed lighting with dimmers, updated electrical and plumbing work, and a fresh coat of paint throughout the bathroom and closet. The final result is a modern master bathroom centered around a fully functional steam shower, designed for both everyday use and long-term durability.

This couple in the La Verne Heights gated community contacted me when it was time to remodel their master bathroom. After years of debating whether or not they should, they decided it was time to treat themselves to a proper master bathroom. They requested a classic look and finishes that would stand the test of time. The “after” is a complete transformation. Custom cabinetry, made to look like furniture with crystal knobs, was crafted and topped off with a slab of Cambria Quartz. The flooring and shower are clad in marble, surrounded by frameless glass. The soaking tub is Victoria + Albert and framed with custom pleated panels with custom Roman shades beneath for privacy. Chrome fixtures and lighting were added for a touch of classic sparkle.
