Stone Ridge Farm offers complete privacy and commanding views of the Taconic Mountains. The owners, purveyors of fine Scandinavian antiques, built the 4,950-square-foot residence in 2001 at the end of a ½-mile drive. The home is a New England farmhouse with a distinct Scandinavian influence, which reflects the timeless lineage of two cultures with its high craftsmanship and attention to detail. The interior design includes antique pickled pine floors, built in antique Scandinavian wall cabinets and four fireplaces. The Great Room with its gourmet kitchen, informal -dining and sitting area is cozy with its defining Norwegian woodstove, and spacious with its 14-foot ceilings and endless views to the South and East. The living spaces are light filled and flexible in use. There are two en-suite bedrooms, one bedroom or hobby room and two master bedroom suites, one of the first floor. A bland home with flat facade from the eighties was torn down to the studs to build this elegant shingle-style home with swooping gables and intricate window details. According to a unique style survey, which is a cornerstone in our design process, the client responded to striking primary colors. Creating a design concept from this idea, we used bold 4'x4' flower tiles, which visually connect the floor and wall of the bathroom and accented the vanity and shower walls with red mosaic tile. Our team also designed exotic solid sapelle wood doors, installed a glass towel warmer, a massaging thermostatic shower system, a steam unit, an in-wall tank water-saving toilet, and radiant floors.

Modern finishes, luxurious furnishings and technology upgrades were made throughout the apartment. Included in the re-fresh was a luxurious new master bathroom with a two-person walk-in shower, a soaking tub with a dramatic city view, heated marble floors and an integrated television in the vanity mirror. In the kitchen, the custom cabinetry remained in place, but new countertops, backsplash, lighting and appliances were added. This kitchen addition project is an expansion of an old story and a half South Bozeman home. A complete demolition and rebuild of this structure would be the best course of action, but we are in a historic neighborhood and we will be working with it as is. Budget is an issue as well, so in addition to the second story addition, we are limiting our renovation efforts to the kitchen and bathroom areas at the back the house. We are making a concerted effort to not get into too much of the existing front half of this house. This is precisely the type of remodeling work that requires a very skilled and experienced builder. And I emphasize experienced. We are lucky to be working with Luke Stahlberg of Ibex Builders. Luke is a talented local Bozeman contractor with years of experience in the remodeling industry. Luke is very methodical and well organized. This is a classic remodeling project with enough detail to really test a contractor’s skill and experience.
