Patio kitchen - large coastal backyard stone patio kitchen idea in Chicago with a roof extension

Originally a concrete pad for parking a car, the floor has been transformed into a "work of art"... an original design, hand painted, and finished with a clear-coat, industrial epoxy finish. This space serves multiple purposes - an inviting entry, it also serves the owner with an area for exercise, yoga, and meditation, as well as storage space.

Location: Denver, CO, USA THE CHALLENGE: Create a unique and inventive space that supported the client’s beloved art collection. THE SOLUTION: A neutral color palette, with textural interest is used throughout the home to serve as supporting elements to the artwork. Natural finishes were added to contrast the homes existing modern aesthetic, creating a warm, rustic, yet progressive home. Dado Interior Design DAVID LAUER PHOTOGRAPHY

This condo underwent an amazing transformation! The kitchen was moved from one side of the condo to the other so the homeowner could take advantage of the beautiful view. This beautiful hutch makes a wonderful serving counter and the tower on the left hides a supporting column. The beams in the ceiling are not only a great architectural detail but they allow for lighting that could not otherwise be added to the condos concrete ceiling. The lovely crown around the room also conceals solar shades and drapery rods.

IDS (Interior Design Society) Designer of the Year - National Competition - 2nd Place award winning Kitchen ($30,000 & Under category) Photo by: Shawn St. Peter Photography - What designer could pass on the opportunity to buy a floating home like the one featured in the movie Sleepless in Seattle? Well, not this one! When I purchased this floating home from my aunt and uncle, I undertook a huge out-of-state remodel. Up for the challenge, I grabbed my water wings, sketchpad, & measuring tape. It was sink or swim for Patricia Lockwood to finish before the end of 2014. The big reveal for the finished houseboat on Sauvie Island will be in the summer of 2015 - so stay tuned.
