Our clients, a couple with four children, wanted to update their 1952 home with a mid-century feel, focusing on the main floor. The renovation emphasized enhancing finishes, optimizing storage, and maximizing seating in the dining and living areas. The entryway was designed to be inviting and practical, while the living room featured a statement sectional and a stunning terrazzo fireplace. The kitchen and dining area were transformed to be both functional and elegant, with playful touches like “Drunk Monkeys” wallpaper in the powder room.

Inspiration for a 1960s living room remodel in Miami

We designed and renovated a Mid-Century Modern home into an ADA compliant home with an open floor plan and updated feel. We incorporated many of the homes original details while modernizing them. We converted the existing two car garage into a master suite and walk in closet, designing a master bathroom with an ADA vanity and curb-less shower. We redesigned the existing living room fireplace creating an artistic focal point in the room. The project came with its share of challenges which we were able to creatively solve, resulting in what our homeowners feel is their first and forever home. This beautiful home won three design awards: • Pro Remodeler Design Award – 2019 Platinum Award for Universal/Better Living Design • Chrysalis Award – 2019 Regional Award for Residential Universal Design • Qualified Remodeler Master Design Awards – 2019 Bronze Award for Universal Design

The mid-century slanted ceiling of the open dining room creates a cozy but spacious area for a custom 9' dining table made of reclaimed oak, surrounded by 8 matching vintage Windsor chairs painted in Farrow & Ball's Green Smoke. The new front elevation of the Manhattan Beach Mid-Century Modern house. The original house from the 1950s was by famed architect Edward Ficket. In the 1980s a bad addition was done that hid the original house and completely changed the character.. Our goal was to revamp the entire house and in the process restore some of the mid-century magic.

Our goal on this project was to update a traditional home by bringing in mid-century elements in accessories and furnishings in order to make the space more functional, enjoyable, and beautiful. Now, the space is bright and bold, yet neutral and soothing, and overall more contemporary and compelling with its clean lines. Our clients have told us they really enjoy the new design and layout as well as the look of the home and the pride it provides them.

Dining Room Remodel. Custom Dining Table and Buffet. Custom Designed Wall incorporates double sided fireplace/hearth and mantle and shelving wrapping to living room side of the wall. Privacy wall separates entry from dining room with custom glass panels for light and space for art display.
