My wife and I cannot speak highly enough about Lauren Shadid. We embarked upon a very complex “Reno-Scrape,” taking a 1970 ranch down to ithe studs and Lauren designed our ultimate dream house, complete with a dramatic 20 foot great room, elegant primary suite, rooms for guest, and an incredible pool house. Halfway thru our project we were forced to change General Contractors due to their fraudulent activities, and my wife and I had to become much more involved, yet Lauren was the one great constant thru everything. She was always accessible; met us at various places to select finishes; worked with our subs; and overall was an incredible professional but also a great friend. If there was a higher rating than 5 Stars, Lauren would get it!

I recently doubled the size of my house, demolishing most of it and finishing with a beautiful two story traditional home. Lauren's plans were thoughtful and beautiful. Throughout the process she made wonderful suggestions. She understood the look I was tying to achieve and worked so well with me to accomplish it. She has a very detailed eye, and made wonderful suggestions to the contractor and me to keep the overall look cohesive. Lauren is a delight . We worked extremely well together. She listened to my wishes, and the alterations were made. The remodeling experience was quite enjoyable. I would recommend her highly.

We wanted to remodel both of our bathrooms and started looking at hardware and tile, but soon realized the complexity of the project. Lauren was recommended by a co-worker who had worked with her on a previous project. We met with Lauren to go over the project and soon had architectural plans and an idea of the style for each bathroom. She was very helpful when choosing tile, hardware and paint colors. It was easy to run ideas past her and we trusted her opinion. Lauren worked with our contractor to make sure everything was installed as selected and made many site visits to go over the progress. We love our new bathrooms and would work with Lauren on any future projects.

Lauren Shadid did a fabulous job in the remodel of our mid-century modern home, which included adding square footage and designing a wonderful master bedroom suite. She was great to work with. She was timely, efficient and creative. Her design was simply terrific. She worked very well with the contractor I engaged, and she made frequent site visits during construction. She was great about soliciting input throughout the process from us as well as our contractor, leading to some very nice tweaks that were incorporated early enough so they did not result in expensive change orders. She also was great with decisions as to colors (both outside and inside), finishes and floorings. We were also very pleased with her hardscape design for our existing pool area. All in all, she took an existing mid-century modern home, and made it "more so" in every respect, and we couldn't be more pleased.

I highly recommend Lauren Shadid for any architectural project for which she feels qualified. Lauren did a fabulous job as the architect in charge of remodeling our home (circa 1960). In the first phase, we expanded the master bedroom, created a walk-in closet, and expanded/improved an office. In the second phase, we made dramatic improvements to our back yard in order to gain the use of previously unusable space with the addition of a large deck. In addition to the deck, we demolished the entire backyard and put in new planters, hardscape, pool surfacing, pool equipment, lighting, sprinkler system, and landscaping. Both phases of the remodel were quite tricky, because we live in a hilly area that has many new code restrictions since the house was built. Prior to the remodel, I had never worked with an architect. I was naturally leery of having to rely on an expertise of which I had no understanding. Lauren’s competence, friendly nature, ability to communicate, and patience soon won me over. Lauren was able to navigate the intricacies of what needed to be done in order to achieve our desired final product. She communicated well and with authority to the various parties involved in the remodel, e.g. engineers, city officials, contractors, sub-contractors, etc. Lauren would go out of her way to make sure the project was a success. For example, on at least one occasion, she personally visited the inspectors office to ascertain plans were given the appropriate attention. Lauren is very professional, accessible, easy to talk with, and patient even when asked the same question multiple times.

I hired Lauren to design and oversee the construction of a major two-story addition to our house. The add included a new master bath, laundry room, deck, garage and a two-bedroom/one bath in-law suite above the garage. Our house is a 1930 Spanish and we have been careful to preserve many of the original details of the main house. It was important to us that the addition feel like part of the original structure and was in keeping with the style and details of the main house, but with some modern touches. Lauren did an amazing job and met all these criteria! And she was a pleasure to work with - she is professional, organized, detail-oriented and creative. She is also patient and respectful, and really listened and understood our priorities. I highly recommend her!

Lauren Shadid designed the remodel of my home to expand the kitchen and open up the family room, and make use of our space more efficiently. She was very thorough and diligent in her work and was very conscious in keeping within our budget. She works very well with contractors and is always available when she is needed. She was always very response to my questions and concerns. Her background in interior design is a huge bonus as she was very helpful in helping me choose colors and tile. Lauren also helped design my backyard space. We live on sloped lot and she was able to design a pool, jacuzzi, fire pit, and lounge area, whereras before we had a basketball court above the main patio area that was never used. We don't have a finished yard yet, but I can see the transformation and how much more we will enjoy our new space.
