Built in 1902, this Portsmouth home epitomized the colonial shingle style common to the surrounding neighborhood at the beginning of the 20th century. In more recent years, the home served as the parish residence for many Christian ministers and their families. Fondly nicknamed Stella Maris, meaning “The Star of the Sea”, the home was privately purchased and delicately renovated.
The thoughtful restoration of the exterior gave new life to the interior while being sensitive to the home's original classic design. The home's shingles were given a wash of bright color unlike any other in the neighborhood. The kitchen was relocated to the front of the home to create connectivity to the front porch with street views. Existing windows were removed and fully repaired and reinstalled with the addition of custom exterior storm panels.

The play of light and shadow is the main idea of this composition. As you enter this luxurious living room, you immediately notice a beautiful U-shaped sofa with some magnificent armchairs and an elegant coffee table.
This island in the center of the living room looks great against the background of the huge windows that allow light to easily enter the living room space. Sparkling wall surfaces and mirrors add some light to this living room interior as well.
With our outstanding interior designers, try to make your living room stand out and look unusual like the interior in this photo!

The stained glass panels for the doors were designed in prairie style fashion. This look was made popular in the early 1900’s by famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright was known for creating designs that took the entire room into account as opposed to focusing on one aspect. The geometric shapes and thick leaded lines that you see here were very typical of his designs. Though prairie styles originated nearly one hundred years ago, they continue to remain popular today among art enthusiasts and have a powerful influence on modern architecture.
You too can bring the look of Frank Lloyd Wright artwork into your home with prairie style stained glass from Stained Glass Denver. We work with local artisans that are very talented in creating a wide range of stained glass designs. Not only can stained glass enhance the physical appearance of your home, but it can also increase its resale value and provide your family with privacy. Tucked away in the backwoods of Torch Lake, this home marries “rustic” with the sleek elegance of modern. The combination of wood, stone and metal textures embrace the charm of a classic farmhouse. Although this is not your average farmhouse. The home is outfitted with a high performing system that seamlessly works with the design and architecture.
The tall ceilings and windows allow ample natural light into the main room. Spire Integrated Systems installed Lutron QS Wireless motorized shades paired with Hartmann & Forbes windowcovers to offer privacy and block harsh light. The custom 18′ windowcover’s woven natural fabric complements the organic esthetics of the room. The shades are artfully concealed in the millwork when not in use.
Spire installed B&W in-ceiling speakers and Sonance invisible in-wall speakers to deliver ambient music that emanates throughout the space with no visual footprint. Spire also installed a Sonance Landscape Audio System so the homeowner can enjoy music outside.
Each system is easily controlled using Savant. Spire personalized the settings to the homeowner’s preference making controlling the home efficient and convenient.
