This family has personality and it was my mission to bring that into the kitchen with art, vintage rugs and handmade tile. We kept the original layout of the kitchen and gave it a HUGE makeover with new countertops, backsplash tile, and fresh new paint on the island and cabinets.

Elizabeth and Shawn felt that their guest bathroom was a space of missed opportunities—functional but unexciting, it lacked the charm and luxury that they were looking for. Basic fixtures and dated items made the room feel disconnected from the rest of their home. The homeowners were eager to bring the same level of elegance to their guest bathroom, so they selected the same cabinets, mirror, shower wall tile, quartz countertops, and faucets to achieve consistency with their master bathroom. The shower bathtub was updated with a Kohler Alcove soaking bathtub and Delta Kayra shower fixtures. Elizabeth and Shawn are overjoyed with their newly renovated master and guest bathrooms. They now have spaces that are not only updated and functional, but also designed exactly to their liking. Each day now feels like a spa day!

A quick DIY update for a 40's vintage bathroom: Paint walls black to match tile trim, add a chrome luggage rack for towel or basket storage, use a basket on toilet tank, install white wood venetian blinds. (Hint: shop in salvage or Re:Store shops for blinds, missing sinks, tiles, faucets, towel racks, toilets, etc. When using vintage toilets, add jars with water to tanks to use less water.)

Bed and Breakfast: Before Looking to update your rental property? This Bed and breakfast in a 1950’s home was updated in the rental bedroom, bathroom and common areas (kitchen, living room and front entry) guests see when entering the home. The bed and breakfast specializes in wildlife viewing, so the decor highlighted this theme.The kitchen, bath and living room were remodeled. The bedroom had outdated decor and no heat source. New bedding, linens, cabinet hardware and an electric fireplace were added. The bathroom was overwhelmed by outdated pink and blue flowered flooring and wallpaper, an outdated vanity, faucets and lighting. The wallpaper was removed and painted a beautiful green to highlight the new hummingbird shower curtain. The vanity, faucets, lighting, flooring were replaced and missing baseboard molding was added. New towels and rugs were added for a fun, fresh and updated look. The owner was on a limited budget and the entire project was completed for less than $4000. This spacious home in North Vancouver's Deep Cove community had been built and decorated just over 20 years ago and was in need of updating. Our clients who are empty nesters, spend much of their time in the kitchen and family room so we focused on these spaces keeping in mind that the more formal spaces on the main floor will follow in a few years time. For the most part the layout of their kitchen worked well for them so our role was to tweak the kitchen and family room furniture layout and to select updated finishes and furnishings. Since this home transformation is not happening all at once, we purposefully selected classic finishes, like antique brass hardware, that will tie in with the rest of the home's decor until it can be updated. The resulting refresh stays true to the original feel of the house while giving it a clean, updated look.
