We needed to mitigate the green subway tile. The center island and range hood was also green. We painted both with a soft ivory with a chocolate glaze. We also replaced the chandelier and added soft transitional bar stools to lighten the space.

The Owner, an attorney, requested a house design that was unique and fit her personality. After much discussion we decided on a barrel vault approach. The house is waterfront, and was thus raised 8’ above sea level to mitigate any flooding damage. The column foundation is continued through the interior and , with exposed beams, generate the interior form language.

This meandering driveway is the focal point of the property. Mitigating cracking with a running bond pattern, achieved by checker boarding pours and maintaining a high quality of work with consistent finishes and crisp, clean, saw cut lines, produced the final result.

The clients had an affinity for Asian gardens. This was our jumping off point. Dwarf Japanese maples and conifers provide year-round interest, structure and texture. The dry creek bed aids in water mitigation from the downspouts.
