What this Mid-century modern home originally lacked in kitchen appeal it made up for in overall style and unique architectural home appeal. That appeal which reflects back to the turn of the century modernism movement was the driving force for this sleek yet simplistic kitchen design and remodel. Our clients came to us wanting to update and open up their kitchen, breakfast nook, wet bar, and den. They wanted a cleaner look without clutter but didn’t want to go with an all-white kitchen, fearing it’s too trendy. Their kitchen was not utilized well and was not aesthetically appealing; it was very ornate and dark. The cooktop was too far back in the kitchen towards the butler’s pantry, making it awkward when cooking, so they knew they wanted that moved. The rest was left up to our designer to overcome these obstacles and give them their dream kitchen. We gutted the kitchen cabinets, including the built-in china cabinet and all finishes. The pony wall that once separated the kitchen from the den (and also housed the sink, dishwasher, and ice maker) was removed, and those appliances were relocated to the new large island, which had a ton of storage and a 15” overhang for bar seating. Beautiful aged brass Quebec 6-light pendants were hung above the island. All cabinets were replaced and drawers were designed to maximize storage. The Eclipse “Greensboro” cabinetry was painted gray with satin brass Emtek Mod Hex “Urban Modern” pulls. A large banquet seating area was added where the stand-alone kitchen table once sat. The main wall was covered with 20x20 white Golwoo tile. The backsplash in the kitchen and the banquette accent tile was a contemporary coordinating Tempesta Neve polished Wheaton mosaic marble. In the wet bar, they wanted to completely gut and replace everything! The overhang was useless and it was closed off with a large bar that they wanted to be opened up, so we leveled out the ceilings and filled in the original doorway into the bar in order for the flow into the kitchen and living room more natural. We gutted all cabinets, plumbing, appliances, light fixtures, and the pass-through pony wall. A beautiful backsplash was installed using Nova Hex Graphite ceramic mosaic 5x5 tile. A 15” overhang was added at the counter for bar seating. In the den, they hated the brick fireplace and wanted a less rustic look. The original mantel was very bulky and dark, whereas they preferred a more rectangular firebox opening, if possible. We removed the fireplace and surrounding hearth, brick, and trim, as well as the built-in cabinets. The new fireplace was flush with the wall and surrounded with Tempesta Neve Polished Marble 8x20 installed in a Herringbone pattern. The TV was hung above the fireplace and floating shelves were added to the surrounding walls for photographs and artwork. They wanted to completely gut and replace everything in the powder bath, so we started by adding blocking in the wall for the new floating cabinet and a white vessel sink. Black Boardwalk Charcoal Hex Porcelain mosaic 2x2 tile was used on the bathroom floor; coordinating with a contemporary “Cleopatra Silver Amalfi” black glass 2x4 mosaic wall tile. Two Schoolhouse Electric “Isaac” short arm brass sconces were added above the aged brass metal framed hexagon mirror. The countertops used in here, as well as the kitchen and bar, were Elements quartz “White Lightning.” We refinished all existing wood floors downstairs with hand scraped with the grain. Our clients absolutely love their new space with its ease of organization and functionality.

This kitchen was in in great shape but Was a bit dated. Our clients were interested in a more modern/Contemporary design. After discussing Options and getting a feel for our clients style tastes we came up with a modern design to improve No only the aesthetics of their kitchen but also functionality. We went with flush mount cabinets in A natural wood color. We went with high end Wolf appliances including a double oven, Cooktop, wine fridge and exhaust hood. We Installed a white quartz slab floor and gray quartz countertop. We Installed under cabinet lighting and opened a pass through behind the sink to replace fridge in a new Kitchen layout.

We, primarily Abby and Jen, had fun with this and finally able to convince a client to use a beautiful rich green color. With the mouldings and the wall to wall vanity, gave Ben Amrami's crew a little difficulty which they managed superbly. Originally an old log cabin with a conventional, detached guest house, the Paintbrush Addition & Remodel has been combined into a modern day work of art. Original timber logs and farmer's stone on exterior was stained black. A dark bronze standing seam metal roof was installed. The "Connector" is finished with western red cedar siding. Inspiration for a huge timeless l-shaped eat-in kitchen remodel in Providence with a farmhouse sink, shaker cabinets, white cabinets, quartz countertops, white backsplash, stainless steel appliances and an island

Mid-Century Remodel on Tabor Hill This sensitively sited house was designed by Robert Coolidge, a renowned architect and grandson of President Calvin Coolidge. The house features a symmetrical gable roof and beautiful floor to ceiling glass facing due south, smartly oriented for passive solar heating. Situated on a steep lot, the house is primarily a single story that steps down to a family room. This lower level opens to a New England exterior. Our goals for this project were to maintain the integrity of the original design while creating more modern spaces. Our design team worked to envision what Coolidge himself might have designed if he'd had access to modern materials and fixtures. With the aim of creating a signature space that ties together the living, dining, and kitchen areas, we designed a variation on the 1950's "floating kitchen." In this inviting assembly, the kitchen is located away from exterior walls, which allows views from the floor-to-ceiling glass to remain uninterrupted by cabinetry. We updated rooms throughout the house; installing modern features that pay homage to the fine, sleek lines of the original design. Finally, we opened the family room to a terrace featuring a fire pit. Since a hallmark of our design is the diminishment of the hard line between interior and exterior, we were especially pleased for the opportunity to update this classic work.

The homeowners wanted to turn a transitional style house into a modern masterpiece. When you walked through the front door, there was a wall in between the dining and kitchen that closed off the space into “rooms” and created additional angles to the house in which the homeowners did not like. To create the open, modern feel, we decided to take down a non-load bearing wall that housed the original pantry and refrigerator. Now you can walk through the front door and the expansive kitchen, dining and sunken living room welcome you with a stunning view of the bay. The new cabinets were done in the Madrid door in a combination of Bistro and Walnut to create a two-toned look. We also installed a new backsplash and Quartzite countertop with a waterfall edge.

Some elements of the original home were preserved, including this room divider, which artistically separates the foyer from the living room.
