Zen design philosophy was the launching inspiration for this comprehensive landscape makeover in central Boulder. Locally sourced moss-rock boulders set the structure for the terraced back yard, with rustic slabs of buff sandstone for steps, and black granite accent boulders, gives the impression this landscape is has been here a long while. By hollowing out a boulder that is part of the terrace, the gas-line fire pit harmonizes with its' surroundings.

A design to provide the beauty and colors of nature four seasons of the year, while maintaining privacy in a close-knit patio home community, Custom wrought-iron fence and arched gateway outlined the property. Evergreen East Palatka Holly trees, blue spruce, dogwood and japanese maples provide height and privacy in a small space along the street. River rock dry bed, moss rock boulders, raised pots mixed with seasonal perennials and evergreens naturalized the property.

In this first Deck and Patio project, we surrounded a new 50-foot-long, 26-foot-wide pool (approximate) with an elegant pool deck made of Travertine. This project also boasts a tanning shelf, spillover spa, moss rock waterfalls, volleyball court, and diving rock. The pool was constructed with a concrete wall and vinyl liner. “These homeowners also had us build a pool house and an outdoor kitchen, so they really wanted to bring all the comforts and the elegance of their home’s interior pool-side,” says Dave Stockwell, owner of Deck and Patio.

This gorgeous dual pool with a vanishing edge was designed for the clients love for Vail, CO. Project includes a stone beach entry, swim up bar to a cabana with retractable glass window, and a lot of rock. Privacy was a huge factor in the placing of fountains, rock work & cabana. The striking basalt rock spires makes for a sleek water feature within ear-shot of the expansive Indian bluestone patio. The Mexican pebble-cobble at the base covers the underground catchment basin for circulation. Red-wing blackbirds and other song birds frequently stop by for a drink and some nourishment from the pollinator-friendly plantings.

The coolest place on a hot summer's day has got to be this patio. With the soothing-sounding water feature, a structural over-hang off the house, and an adjacent mature blue spruce tree, this is the perfect spot to chill. The Colorado-friendly bamboo plantings are newly installed, but in time will create more privacy for this zen inspired design by Ecoscape's Chris Tracy.
