Braen SupplyFinding the Perfect Match
Caribbean Blue Pools did a great job on this Franklin Lakes home, affectionately known as grandma’s house. Matching the existing stone on the house was challenging because the stone was no longer being quarried. This meant beginning the search for a similar stone that was still available.
Ultimately using the experts at Braen Supply, a natural blend was selected to match the existing stone for the pool house as well as the focal point of the backyard, the fireplace.
Perfecting the Details
The details on this custom built fireplace, which include custom bluestone surrounds, bluestone chimney caps, and bluestone wall caps, were hand chiseled to enhance the look of the fireplace surrounds.
Moss rock boulders and Kearney stone steps were chosen to help add natural beauty to the project. Norwegian Buff was an easy choice for the patio due to its favorable temperature and beauty around pool areas.

UserWe encountered two design challenges in this original 1916 Oakland bungalow. Existing concrete walls and all the topsoil had been removed, creating a very steep slope. Our job was to bring the space back to the architectural jewel it could be. We added terraced moss rock walls that enabled us to rebuild soil and create more visual depth in this small space. Paint color from the Sherwin-Williams historical pallet complements plant choices, including yellow climbing Roses, warm rusty red Smoke Bush, and trailing Manzanita. The Nelson TeamWonderful transformation at the beginning of a multi-phase project. Wooded private lake lot cleared of most trees and large amount of soil moved to enhance view to the lake. The creation of a beautiful, pond-less, water feature begins as you head towards the lake and transitions into a flagstone patio, contained by a moss rock seating wall, and a fire pit area. This postion allows for breathtaking views back towards the house and the water feature, or to several angles to the lake which offer countless possibilities of natural beauty. New stone step treads replaced rotted wooden steps and a flagstone walkway did the same for the dry portion of the dock. Pine straw was used to dress up areas to be planted and to provide a clean and finished look

This moss rock waterfall is a one of a kind custom creation like none you’ve ever witnessed. But you are all witnesses now ;). We took a drab weedy flower bed on a bank and turned it into a true masterpiece. This pondless waterfall was built using all aquascape pond products per usual. The moss rock boulders truly make this water feature. This water feature also harvest rain water from the down spots on the home hidden through the large drift wood on the edge. No need to pull out the hose to fill this feature up. Follow along as we put on the finishing touches to the feature in the video above and the final work of art in the pictures below.

GappsiThis upscale backyard was designed and installed by Gappsi in Locust Valley NY. On the north shore of Nassau County Long island. This Back yard incorporates many outdoor amenities; the oversized free formed gunite swimming pool built with a spillover gunite spa is the focal point, surrounded by a super-sized natural moss rock waterfall as the backdrop and moca travertine pavers and pool coping. A Large U shaped outdoor kitchen was built with all high end cocking appliances, bar sink and plenty of counter top space. a firepit on one end of the back yard and a Majestic fireplace on the opposite site built with Fiorito travertine Veneer. The 5000 sq ft patio was divided in separate sections of inlay by using melfi limestone, scogli di mare limestones and moca travertine selected from the Gappsi natural stone collection.
