In this beautiful French Manor style home, we renovated the kitchen and butler’s pantry and created an office space and wet bar in a hallway. The black granite countertops and white cabinets are beautifully offset by black and gray mosaic backsplash behind the range and gold pendant lighting over the island. The huge window opens like an accordion, sliding completely open to the back garden. An arched doorway leads to an office and wet bar hallway, topped with a barrel ceiling and recessed lighting.

The owners of this colonial-style house wanted to renovate their home to increase space and improve flow. We built a two-story addition that included a dining room and bar on the first floor (off of the family room) and a new master bathroom (creating a master suite).

Following a single contour line for one-level living. With an attenuated plan and delicate folds in the roof, the origin of the name “Origami House” is clear. The house is built along a contour on a gentle south-facing slope. The different slopes of the black roof, the gray cement-board walls in a traditional Japanese clapboard style, and the Cor-Ten sheet metal accents at the entrances evoke a natural formation in the woods as much as traditional readings of “house.”
Requirements included rooms to pursue interests and support a lifestyle in very specific ways: an acoustically isolated music room, a sewing room, a screened porch, a wine room and room for a large collection of books. Low-maintenance and energy-efficiency were desired, with conveniences and arrangements that will continue to meet their needs as they age. A strong connection to the site, embracing the outdoors was essential.

This Master Suite Addition project was initiated by our Clients’ desire to stay in their family home well into their golden years. Their wish list included a master suite and large open space for entertaining. With “Aging in Place” a main objective, our goal was to move all essential tasks to the first floor. Our design created a smooth transition between old house and new by expanding their dining room and adding a vestibule between the two spaces. This resulted in a much larger dining space and the larger entertaining area they were seeking. The master bedroom’s floor to ceiling windows on two of the walls frames picturesque views of their beloved garden outside. Vaulted ceilings, French doors to the bathroom with a transom window above express class and grandeur. Through the French doors the elegant master bathroom shines with reflections from the decorative crystal chandelier, white and grey tile, polished chrome fixtures and lighted glass bowls. A double headed shower, with dual temperature controls, and the air-jetted tub provide a true sanctuary for a relaxed bathing experience. “His and Her” elements are also fulfilled with dual vanities, and dual toilet areas. Upon completion, the homeowners passionately stated that this project turned out even better than they could have imagined. They truly love their new space in their long loved home and look forward to many more years in their new haven.

With nearly everything white, we played around with patterns for some interest.

Historic 1880s farmhouse renovation in Spring City, Utah by certified kitchen & bath designer Cindy McCarley. Traditional meets farmhouse chic with sage green cabinetry, marble backsplash, floral wallpaper & copper details. Award-winning interior design preserving vintage charm with modern luxury.

When this client first reached out, her family had recently purchased a 1929 Tudor in Seattle and required bringing the vision she had for their front room to life. Her love of moody jewel tones and warm velvets made designing this space, later nicknamed “The Parlor,” so fun. It’s not often you see this style in the PNW, and we jumped at the chance to think outside the box. This home already had so much character, and it was essential to keep those details intact while also reinventing the space. We created a cozy yet moody vibe by painting all the walls and trims a deep teal blue. The vintage-inspired floral wallpaper bridged the gap between old and new.
It wasn’t long after the parlor wrapped that our client came back wanting to rethink her entire kitchen situation. When our client purchased the home, there was a galley kitchen behind the parlor and beyond that was a post-build addition used as a dining and TV room. We decided the best use of space was to move the kitchen to where the dining and TV room lived and create the old galley kitchen into a “passthrough” space where the new TV area would be. It was only fitting to continue the bold use of color through these spaces – but this time, contrast with white walls to keep things light and bright. Add a show-stopping Lacanche range, rustic wood accents, and voila! A kitchen fit for a full-time mom who loves to cook, bake, and entertain!

Our homeowners moved from The Windy City all the way to the land of the pines with dreams of a perfect home for their family. They found Wake Remodeling and together we made their dream a reality. We developed a strategy to utilize as much of their current resources as possible, while adding new features and design throughout the home. We completed a kitchen refacing with appliances, new paint, lighting, and gorgeous customer cabinetry.
The master bathroom is a must see! We completely redesigned the bathroom with the homeowners' stellar taste in mind and created a haven for them to relax and rejuvenate. From the custom closets to the body spray shower system, the master bathroom makes a statement of elegance.

In this transitional farmhouse in West Chester, PA, we renovated the kitchen and family room, and installed new flooring and custom millwork throughout the entire first floor. This chic tuxedo kitchen has white cabinetry, white quartz counters, a black island, soft gold/honed gold pulls and a French door wall oven. The family room’s built in shelving provides extra storage. The shiplap accent wall creates a focal point around the white Carrera marble surround fireplace. The first floor features 8-in reclaimed white oak flooring (which matches the open shelving in the kitchen!) that ties the main living areas together.

This large backyard had an impressive infinity pool, hot tub, waterfalls and outdoor fireplace, but needed some cozying up. Susan Currie Design reconfigured the layout for outdoor furniture to make the space functional and inviting.
Near the grill, we have a set of tables and chairs for quiet afternoon lunches in the shade. Another seating area in front of the fireplace welcomes dinner guests to linger over drinks and stargaze in the evening. By the pool, chaises and a small side table are perfect for relaxing with a book or magazine.
Teal fabric on the newly upholstered seating and umbrella in a teal color scheme tie in with aqua color of the pool water, and make the seating areas feel cool and refreshing.
Under the covered porch, the homeowners have what are essentially an outdoor living room and dining room. Close to the house, these areas are easy to bring food and drinks out to from inside, and offer a delightful view of the pool and surrounding yard. Because it is covered, this area will stay cooler through much of the day than the rest of the yard, but black drapes are available to close off the area to any direct sun that may find its way in, and add a dramatic finishing touch. An Indonesian teak log planted with succulents brings life to the dining table.

We completely renovated this Haverford home between Memorial Day and Labor Day! We maintained the traditional feel of this colonial home with Early-American heart pine floors and bead board on the walls of various rooms. But we also added features of modern living. The open concept kitchen has warm blue cabinetry, an eating area with a built-in bench with storage, and an especially convenient area for pet supplies and eating! Subtle and sophisticated, the bathrooms are awash in gray and white Carrara marble. We custom made built-in shelves, storage and a closet throughout the home. Crafting the millwork on the staircase walls, post and railing was our favorite part of the project.

This colonial home in Penn Valley, PA, needed a complete interior renovation. Working closely with the owners, we renovated all three floors plus the basement. Now the house is bright and light, featuring open layouts, loads of natural light, and a clean design maximizing family living areas. Highlights include:
- creating a guest suite in the third floor/attic
- installing custom millwork and moulding in the curved staircase and foyer
- creating a stunning, contemporary kitchen, with marble counter tops, white subway tile back splash, and an eating nook.

Entering the back yard is like entering an English garden. To ensure a seamless look between the original new parts of the house, we built the covered patio using the same German schist stone and timber framed stucco. Further, the stone’s pointing matches the original historic stone, and we used a gray grout for a weathered, aged look. The space is finished off with spiraled lattice iron works and all slate roof. At the end of the roof is an open truss timber frame in a cathedral design. Copper flashing at the joints protects the wood from water sitting in the spaces and eventually rotting the joints. The patio itself features a flagstone floor, built in gas grill, and the other side of the Rumford fireplace found in the family room.
