The breathtaking ocean views influenced the dramatic redesign of this water-front Poipu condo. The outdated condo was completely remodeled to allow full appreciation of the surrounding views, bring in a fresh new color palette, and modernize and update everything from the electrical wiring to the new luxury bath towels. The clients wanted the condo to feel “fun, happy, and cheerful,” and to stand apart from the typical vacation rental on Kauai. They wanted to turn this condo into the ultimate “beach house” that felt just as luxurious as the gorgeous natural surroundings. Fresh white ship-lap walls set the backdrop for this modern beach style, which is further enhanced with bold stripes, natural textures, and ocean-themed decor. The palette of cobalt, aqua and lichen green is fresh and vibrant against the neutral backdrop. Trina Turk’s “Peacock Print” was the inspiration fabric for the living and dining room. The print is so lively, colorful, and modern, and was the perfect place to start. Every custom detail was thoughtfully chosen to bring a sense of luxury and originality to the space. While some elements are whimsical, such as the playful octopus art & fish-themed fabric, other elements are sophisticated and classic, to help keep the design grounded. Special features include a custom-made “Moroccan Fish Scale” tile backsplash in the kitchen, crushed marble counter tops with oyster shells and float glass, and blue glass pendant lights, reminiscent of water bubbles.

Designed by Interior Designer, A. Lantz Design, this Lake Charlevoix project was featured on the cover of Traditional Home magazine! This is my favorite powder bath in the house! Located on the lower level, this powder room is located right around the corner from the rec and billiards area. We wanted to make a huge impact in this small space so we chose some gorgeous, nautical sailing themed wallpaper and navy blue penny floor tiles. The patterns in this space are incredible and we wanted it to be a wow-factor in such an incredible entertaining space.

Custom white grommet bunk beds model white gray bedding, a trundle feature and striped curtains. A wooden ladder offers a natural finish to the bedroom decor around shiplap bunk bed trim. Light gray walls in Benjamin Moore Classic Gray compliment the surrounding color theme while red pillows offer a pop of contrast contributing to a nautical vibe. Polished concrete floors add an industrial feature to this open bedroom space.

Inspiration for a timeless dining room remodel in Dallas with brown walls

This project was featured in Midwest Home magazine as the winner of ASID Life in Color. The addition of a kitchen with custom shaker-style cabinetry and a large shiplap island is perfect for entertaining and hosting events for family and friends. Quartz counters that mimic the look of marble were chosen for their durability and ease of maintenance. Open shelving with brass sconces above the sink create a focal point for the large open space. Putting a modern spin on the traditional nautical/coastal theme was a goal. We took the quintessential palette of navy and white and added pops of green, stylish patterns, and unexpected artwork to create a fresh bright space. Grasscloth on the back of the built in bookshelves and console table along with rattan and the bentwood side table add warm texture. Finishes and furnishings were selected with a practicality to fit their lifestyle and the connection to the outdoors. A large sectional along with the custom cocktail table in the living room area provide ample room for game night or a quiet evening watching movies with the kids. These particular clients are from San Francisco and hired us to decorate their second home in Mission Beach. The goal of this project was to decorate in such a way that accommodated the family for their uses, and also renters while they are away. Window treatments, decor, bedding and furniture were strategically procured with both users in mind. Enjoy the pictures!

This tiny powder bath offers a charming nautical theme in this Michigan Lake House! We found this antique porcelain sink and painted the exterior of it red. Reflected in the mirror is a set of matching red upper cabinetry above the toilet for storage. We chose to wrap the room in white shiplap for an authentic look. The nautical rope mirror is just the cherry on top of this small space design.

Nautical charts of local waters hand-painted by artist Joel Blanco cover one wall of this office. The maritime theme is carried further by the use of snap-ties on the roller shades, mahogany stools with nickel foot rails, and a brass steam gauge.

A sturdy outdoor shower was a welcome addition for the family. Materials were chosen for extra durability, without skimping on appearance. Constructed from actual sailboat cleats hung vertically, the hooks in the shower stand up to the outdoor environment as well as echoing a subtle nautical design theme of the home. An inlaid pebble shower floor continues the natural theme—and its surface is more slip-resistant. The shower surround is PVC to hold up to heavy use and the salt and sun environment.
