With the lower ceilings in this cottage basement we had to figure out how to maximize the bunk space without banging heads. This box mount on the floor solution did the trick. The column adds support and makes the bunks appear to be floating. The stained wood ladders that become safety rails are just one more detail that the builder and his sons added to the mix.

From the main entryway the home opens up into a large living room with high ceilings. The floor plan is open to the dining room and family room with views all the way to the backyard and side gardens. The room features a weathered wood fireplace and ceiling with white beams, which set the stage for the beach theme throughout the home. Custom upholstery and area rugs throughout the home are light in color with pillows and accessories as accent colors. The home was remodeled with a layout and all new hardwood floors. A custom dining table sits beneath a large nautical themed chandelier. Roman shades with striped accents and fun patterned chairs keep the space feeling casual and inviting.

Camp Wobegon is a nostalgic waterfront retreat for a multi-generational family. The home's name pays homage to a radio show the homeowner listened to when he was a child in Minnesota. Throughout the home, there are nods to the sentimental past paired with modern features of today.
The five-story home sits on Round Lake in Charlevoix with a beautiful view of the yacht basin and historic downtown area. Each story of the home is devoted to a theme, such as family, grandkids, and wellness. The different stories boast standout features from an in-home fitness center complete with his and her locker rooms to a movie theater and a grandkids' getaway with murphy beds. The kids' library highlights an upper dome with a hand-painted welcome to the home's visitors.
Throughout Camp Wobegon, the custom finishes are apparent. The entire home features radius drywall, eliminating any harsh corners. Masons carefully crafted two fireplaces for an authentic touch. In the great room, there are hand constructed dark walnut beams that intrigue and awe anyone who enters the space. Birchwood artisans and select Allenboss carpenters built and assembled the grand beams in the home.
Perhaps the most unique room in the home is the exceptional dark walnut study. It exudes craftsmanship through the intricate woodwork. The floor, cabinetry, and ceiling were crafted with care by Birchwood carpenters. When you enter the study, you can smell the rich walnut. The room is a nod to the homeowner's father, who was a carpenter himself.
The custom details don't stop on the interior. As you walk through 26-foot NanoLock doors, you're greeted by an endless pool and a showstopping view of Round Lake. Moving to the front of the home, it's easy to admire the two copper domes that sit atop the roof. Yellow cedar siding and painted cedar railing complement the eye-catching domes.

An album that features a media room, influenced by vintage Hollywood glamor, is filled large, brown sofa chairs with colorful, patterned throw pillows and brown, leather ottomans. Another set of patterned seats coordinates with the popcorn station which includes a popcorn machine, countertop bar, and a mixture of round mirrors and old film reels as wall decor.
Other media-themed decor includes framed photos of classic actors and a movie spotlight placed on a camera tripod. A classic look is enhanced with a lovely dark, wooden sideboard, placed in front of the photos, with gold side lamps which create the perfect lighting for a media room.
This home theater also features a red ceiling, beige carpeted floors, and contemporary decor.

The refresh of this main bathroom was geared toward the son of these homeowners. He was very much a part of the selection process of this room. From the travertine floor tile that had fossils in it, to the the beautiful granite that looks like sand...the tub (not shown) is shaped more like a boat, the rope mirror and nautical light fixtures all make this space look like you are at a lighthouse looking out. The deep blue walls provide a nice contrast to the painted beadboard vanity.
