This is the family room and kitchen, it’s an open concept. The client purchased a slipcover sofa in a white performance fabric. Her concern was that she bought this piece before hiring me, so she wasn’t sure it was going to work in the space. I made it work, I added a white shag rug, a leather recliner, a stripe accent chair and a storage ottoman in a velvet fabric. I love how all these pieces complement each other. It’s not a huge space so I didn’t want to overwhelm so I chose (2) glass side tables and a glass sofa table. The chairs we chose for the dining and counter area made with gray leather. The breakfast table is an extendable table in a brown finish. I accessorized with the blues, whites and neutrals all throughout the home.

An Italian fruitwood cabinet, c. 1927, by Gio Ponti and Emilio Lancia is the setting for a Louise Bourgeois drawing presented on an easel. Elegant plain curtains in Holly Hunt's "Colonial Pewter" fabric frame the tableau for these Modernist icons. Scandinavian ceramics complete the vignette. The superbly proportioned Library envelops in warmth created by the soft browns, camels and ambers of the wools and leather used for upholstery, rug and curtains. There is hint of the safari lodge in the stylized tiger design of the custom wool carpet and the tropical hardwoods of the furniture. The brass chandelier, by Sarfatti, is Italian, from the 1950s. The pair of generously proportioned custom "Briarcliff" armchairs by Jonas are upholstered in a lively stripe from Larsen Fabrics, flanking a three-tiered Art Deco side table in chocolate faux shagreen. A collection of white-glazed Chinese pottery graces an antique secretary - a family heirloom. The custom wool and silk rug, "Tai Ping", is woven to resemble a needlepoint pattern. The crisply pleated curtains are in "Palazzo Check" from Holly Hunt; the custom striae wallpaper is from Farrow &

Christopher Kolk, photographer. My home in Connecticut had a small square living room filled with antiques and books. Comfortable, warm and inviting a nice place to spend an evening. French doors open out to small terrace. Linen damask curtains that match the yellow of the walls give the room a cozy feeling on a snowy winter night when pulled closed. They hang from antique gold wooden curtain rods with finials and give the room that polished, finished look.

AK opened up a second entry into the dining room which provided a view of the Chesapeake Bay.
