Inspiration for a timeless living room remodel in Detroit

Natural linens, vintage chrocheted pieces and lace trim were used to dress the bed. The metal daybed frame is Edwardian in style. The iron accent on the tea table imparts an industrial feel.

This beautiful and elegant living room was created by White House Luxe interior designer, Linda Caruso Her client wanted a formal room reminiscent of a french parlor yet comfortable This room is simply gorgeous and still cozy!

I tied the aqua coloring that I used in the Master bedroom to this room with a stripe with a gold accents paper. I added a decorative mirror to the wall to take away the clinical look of bathroom mirrors. Hanging on the walls is a collection of 1940 paper dolls. In place of a white standard bath rug I placed an 18th century needlepoint rug of the white marble floor. To add interest I tied the two bath vanities together with a small make up area with an antique Japanned mirror. The hanging chandelier draws attention to this space along with the pretty Bavarian decorative bottle lamps

A collection of white-glazed Chinese pottery graces an antique secretary - a family heirloom. The custom wool and silk rug, "Tai Ping", is woven to resemble a needlepoint pattern. The crisply pleated curtains are in "Palazzo Check" from Holly Hunt; the custom striae wallpaper is from Farrow & Ball. More family heirlooms, a Queen Anne chair and footstool, complete the space.

This view, taken from beside the coffee bar, shows the wonderful mix of pattern and colour as you enter the living room. Even the book jackets add extra zing to this eclectic space!

The sofa and wing chairs were slipcovered in Schumacher's iconic Chiang Mai Dragon fabric. This fabric was the leaping off point for the entire condo. Built-in bookshelves house the extensive collection of hardcover books, and all the walls, doors, bookshelves were done in Farrow & Ball's Parma Gray. Another Schonbek chandelier is the icing on the cake over the coffee table. Boston Functional Library Lights highlight the wall of built-ins.

rich red walls highlight this Reynolds Plantation living room. The cross wood back arm chairs with red leopard print on the inside and rafia fabric on the outside set a dramatic tone. The chandeliers are on remotes to raise and lower for changing light bulbs and cleaning.
