This client came to me requesting a concept rather than a style.
After living in his home for 15 years, he wanted it to have a “beach-poolside vibe”.
This made for a fun approach.
Styles can have so many names and nuances that clients don’t always know exactly what style they are looking at or requesting.
With a request for a concept, I just needed to determine if my approach should be literal or figurative.
I came to the initial consultation with concept boards with both approaches, and it was determined that figurative was the desired approach.
As the project unfolded, playfulness did too, and some literal elements were added—particularly for the pleasure of his future guests.

The IntroSense consumer is soulful, values privacy, quality and peace. The trend introduces a new direction in minimalistic styling that blends clean, pared-down designs with quiet nature. The IntroSense connection to nature is dry, discreet and non-living, like driftwood, stone, and bark. These elements are calming, quiet and muffled. The color palette includes a nuanced neutral with a subtle hint of blue-green paired with muffled off-whites and grays, and then anchored by a silent black.

This beach house color blends in nicely with the ocean blues, timeless and beautiful. Exterior paint colors warm and cool neutrals are a great choice. Pure whites are quietly shifting to more nuanced whites that sit more softly on a stucco exterior. The limestone stone adds texture and formality. The roofline suggests a french country style. of course selecting an entrance door color we suggested pale yellow, blue and green. One suggestion was a contrasting deep green, reminiscent of nearby pine woods.

This striking black and white photograph captures the delicate beauty of a cluster of wildflowers against a backdrop of lush palm leaves. This summer hideaway in Aurora, NY needed a kitchen update that would make the most of the available space. The beautiful exposed timber frame is a trademark of this home but it presented a challenge: how to renovate without compromising its integrity? In the end, our nuanced construction techniques did the trick and we were left with a final product that satisfied both the homeowner and their architect.
Some of noteworthy favorite details include an eye-catching checkered kitchen island, a custom marble tile arrangement on the floor of the master bath, where we also installed a radiant heating system in the floor, and a stunning vessel sink perched upon a marble countertop.
