Kristen Campbell of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Williamsburg, VA designed a transitional style kitchen featuring Greenfield Cabinetry in the Augusta door style in custom Farrow & Ball paint finishes. The perimeter cabinets feature the Farrow & Ball Strong White painted finish with a Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue painted finished for the island cabinets.
The kitchen also has Nero Mist Honed granite countertops on the perimeter with Q Calacatta Laza quartz on the island. A Craft II Gloss 3x12 White tile backsplash complements the design.
The client expressed their joy of working with Kristen, saying, “We have lived in numerous houses and have renovated kitchens before but this one is by far our favorite and the best experience. Kristen is a great project manager, so responsive, organized, respected our ideas/experience and certainly provided the guidance and design skill in the kitchen of my dreams – which is the highest praise I can give!”
Kristen mentioned the ease of the experience. “The client was extremely knowledgeable, decisive, direct and has a lovely sense of style! The original kitchen was dated. With the use of lighter/classic materials, we really brightened up the space and made a better use of the layout. I am really happy with the final result and to be a part of this remodel.”

A comprehensive master plan for this property brought fresh vision to a time worn landscape surrounding this vintage home. Evolved through numerous iterations, the plan addressed the complexities of the site to achieve the objectives of the new owners. The property is located at the end of a cul-de-sac where a refurbished gate opens to a new gravel driveway and auto court welcoming family and friends. An expanded entrance terrace directs visitors to the front door while passing a quietly flowing fountain backdropped by lush landscape plantings. The expansive main terrace along the back of the home was redesigned at a single contiguous level. A new pool, spa and cold plunge were placed parallel to the main terrace allowing a generous lawn to bring continuity to the property. A guest house was sited to take advantage of views across the landscape with access through an adjacent olive tree shaded dining area. A detached garage with carport was tucked into the site providing buffer of a sport court and chicken coop. A hedged garden added at the kitchen wing of the home adds privacy to the side entrance and a place for kitchen gardening in a raised steel bed. Trees, hedges, shrubs, perennials, and lawns were planned to meld with desirable aspects of the former landscape.

This contemporary staircase serves as a striking focal point in the home's sun-filled entryway. Black mono-beam stringers support thick natural-stained oak treads, creating a bold structural framework. The absence of risers maintains complete openness, allowing natural light from the surrounding private forest to flow freely through the space. Glass panel railings echo the foyer's numerous windows, maintaining visual continuity throughout, while the black metal cap rail reinforces the industrial aesthetic of the stringers. Together, these elements create an anchoring stair system that enhances the contemporary home's connection to light and landscape.

Completed in 2015, this project incorporates a Scandinavian vibe to enhance the modern architecture and farmhouse details. The vision was to create a balanced and consistent design to reflect clean lines and subtle rustic details, which creates a calm sanctuary. The whole home is not based on a design aesthetic, but rather how someone wants to feel in a space, specifically the feeling of being cozy, calm, and clean. This home is an interpretation of modern design without focusing on one specific genre; it boasts a midcentury master bedroom, stark and minimal bathrooms, an office that doubles as a music den, and modern open concept on the first floor. It’s the winner of the 2017 design award from the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and has been on the Tribeza Home Tour; in addition to being published in numerous magazines such as on the cover of Austin Home as well as Dwell Magazine, the cover of Seasonal Living Magazine, Tribeza, Rue Daily, HGTV, Hunker Home, and other international publications.

What a fun yet challenging project. After numerous space plan options, we've finally decided on removing a wall and switching it out with cabinetry that is functional for a kitchen and the dining area. We've added a peninsula at a 120 degree corner to expand the working surface, add bar seating and still keep the space open and inviting from adjoining spaces. Blueberry oak cabinets with satin brass hardware are balanced out with white quartz countertop and gray uppers. Wide plank vinyl helped keep this space masculine and formal while the stairs add a softer touch that's being complimented by warm tone furniture. To tie in warmth and masculinity, we've opted for custom miter-cut shelves in the corner. Windows give us great light and a corner cabinet can block a lot of it out, so floating shelves seemed most appropriate (no visible hardware). With a lot of material and colors, space still seems cohesive and inviting. Very formal, yet ready to be used for entertaining and day to day living.

When this Harbor Island home was originally purchased, the new owner knew that a lot work was needed to transform the whole home to fit his more contemporary style. The Big Sky Design team added new finishes, fireplaces, window treatments and completed a full kitchen and master bath renovation. In the kitchen they added a new island, new custom stained wood detailed bulkhead, Cambria Quartz countertop and backsplash as well as custom finished cabinetry. The master bath has a sleek new tiled wall, all new plumbing and fixtures, lighting and custom concrete sinks. With numerous windows around the perimeter of the home, the space feels open, light and airy. The home is surrounded by palm trees on the exterior all at the perfect heigh to provide privacy and a touch of classic Wrightsville Beach feel. The final look is sleek and handsome and the perfect space for the client to call home! || Photography: Mark Steelman (marksteelmanphoto.com)

From the moment you enter this house, you are immediately met with numerous design features that incorporate a combination of rich colours, patterns, depth, lighting and so much more. The layout of the house made the most of the indoor outdoor living, as there are multiple garden areas that can be accessed from any part of the open plan living, dining, kitchen and braai room areas.
The location of the plot overlooking the golf course is any home owners’ dream, and the dual stackable doors that open onto both a private enclosed garden as well as the greenbelt on the other side, is the heart of this entertainers home. Each area was specifically designed with unique designs and features to stand out among the rest, while creating a comfortable contemporary oasis for its owners.

This project was featured in the Star Tribune Every Day Solutions. The exiting 3 season front porch was never utilized, and the couple needed a home office. The 1914 house did not have a front entry space for the numerous guests the couple usually hosted, so a bench with storage bins and front closet was designed. The other 2/3rds of the space was the 64 square foot office, desks custom built with the lumber that was removed from the existing porch. A creative solution to have a “Front Porch” feel was to make a series of platforms as the steps for places to perch while momma gardens and for planters to sit.

NUMEROUS ELEMENTS IN THIS VIEW.....NOTE ABOVE-CABINET LIGHTING.....LARGE EXPANSIVE ISLAND IS GREAT FOR ENTERTAINING/WORKING.....SMALLER PENDANT FIXTURES REALLY ADD AN INTERESTING TOUCH.....TONS OF FUNCTIONAL STORAGE IN ISLAND.....SEE ADDL. VIEWS FURTHER DOWN.....WE LOVE TO RUN "TALLS" TOGETHER IN-LINE FOR A REALLY DRAMATIC EFFECT!

Previously, matching sofa and love seats were arranged facing each other, with the square cocktail table between them. The seating felt crowded and was seldom used. We replaced the love-seat with a sage wing-back chair, and placed the table on the diagonal. We removed a curio cabinet from the corner, a pair of matching art prints, which were too small for the space, a floral arrangement, all the extra sofa pillows, and numerous accessories. The room seems larger, the traffic flow is improved and buyers can envision themselves enjoying this beautiful room.

Studioteka was asked to gut renovate a pair of apartments in two historic tenement buildings owned by a client as rental properties in the East Village. Though small in footprint at approximately 262 and 278 square feet, respectively, the units each boast well appointed kitchens complete with custom built shaker-style cabinetry and a full range of appliances including a dishwasher, 4 burner stove with oven, and a full height refrigerator with freezer, and bathrooms with stackable or combined washer/dryer units for busy downtown city dwellers. The shaker style cabinetry also has integrated finger pulls for the drawers and cabinet doors, and so requires no hardware. Our innovative client was a joy to work with, and numerous layouts and options were explored in arriving at the best possible use of the space. The angled wall in the smaller of the two units was a part of this collaborative process as it allowed us to be able to fit a stackable unit in the bathroom while ensuring that we also met ADA adaptable standards. New warm wooden flooring was installed in both units to complement the light, blond color of the cabinets which in turn contrast with the cooler stone countertop and gray wooden backsplash. The same wood for the backsplash is then used on the bathroom floor, where it provides a contrast with the simple, white subway tile, sleek silver hanging rods, and white plumbing fixtures.
