Our clients were making a big move from the West Coast and wanted the new home to be ready in time for the start of the new school year, so Studioteka’s architecture and interior design team rolled up our sleeves and got to work! Construction documents were prepared for the coop board and NYC Department of Buildings approval and our team coordinated the renovation. The entire unit had new hardwood flooring, moldings, and doors installed, the stairs were gently refinished, and we took down a wall separating the living room from a small den on the lower level, making the living space much more open, light-filled, and inviting. The hot water heater was tucked away in an unused space under the stair landing, allowing for the creation of a new kitchen pantry with additional storage. We gut-renovated the upstairs bathroom, creating a built-in shower niche as well as a brand new Duravit tub, Mirabelle high-efficiency toilet, American Standard matte black fixtures, and a white Strasser Woodenworks vanity with black hardware. Classic white subway tile lines the walls and shower enclosure, while black and white basketweave tile is used on the floor. The matte black towel hooks, toilet roll holder, and towel rod contrast with the white wall tile, and a shower curtain with a delicate black and white pattern completes the room. Finally, new mid-century modern furnishings were combined with existing pieces to create an apartment that is both a joy to come home to and a warm, inviting urban oasis for this family of four.

An elegant gloss black and brass range ties into the classic charm of this 1910's bungalow. The adjacent dining nook is the perfect place for morning coffee and a fresh baked croissant.

Welcome to our Perfectly Polished Kitchen. For this Camarillo homeowner, the kitchen no longer fit the way they lived. The original layout felt dated and disconnected, with walls separating the kitchen from the living room and an island oriented toward the backyard. Hosting felt divided, and awkward walkways disrupted the flow of the home. The goal was to create a kitchen centered around connection and everyday functionality. We opened the walls between the kitchen and living room and reoriented the island to face the main living space. By relocating a Blanco farmhouse sink to the island and adding bar seating, the kitchen is now a natural gathering place. Family and guests can stay connected while meals are prepared on a 48-inch range with an integrated griddle. The former range wall was transformed into a dedicated coffee and cocktail bar with a flush integrated MicroDrawer, adding convenience without sacrificing the clean aesthetic. Waterfall-edge quartz countertops, glazed grey blue Bedrosians tile, integrated refrigerator and freezer columns, premium Ferguson plumbing fixtures, and custom cabinetry create a timeless foundation. Warm wood tones from the island, wide-plank oak flooring, and custom rift-cut white oak range hood balance the polished nickel finishes for a look that feels both inviting and refined. The result is a timeless kitchen tailored to this homeowner’s minimalist lifestyle. This casita was completely renovated from floor to ceiling in preparation of Airbnb short term romantic getaways. The color palette of teal green, blue and white was brought to life with curated antiques that were stripped of their dark stain colors, collected fine linens, fine plaster wall finishes, authentic Turkish rugs, antique and custom light fixtures, original oil paintings and moorish chevron tile and Moroccan pattern choices.

Originally kitchen had larger sink but no dishwasher. New design allowed to add dishwasher by reducing size of the sink. Sink size and updated design allow no compromise in washing kitchenware and to be used for food preparation. Tall pantry was added for the storage.

"Four Seasons" is an all glass and steel wall sculpture that is made out of 71 pieces of individually hand cut art glass. The steel is prepared and welded with each joint forming the foundation for the precise placement of the glass above it, creating a dynamic yet harmonious composition.

A custom bar was designed my McCabe Design & Interiors to fit the homeowner's love of gathering with friends and entertaining whilst enjoying great conversation, sports tv, or playing pool. The original space was reconfigured to allow for this large and elegant bar. Beside it, and easily accessible for the homeowner bartender is a walk-in wine cellar. Custom millwork was designed and built to exact specifications including a routered custom design on the curved bar. A two-tiered bar was created to allow preparation on the lower level. Across from the bar, is a sitting area and an electric fireplace. Three tv's ensure maximum sports coverage. Lighting accents include slims, led puck, and rope lighting under the bar. A sonas and remotely controlled lighting finish this entertaining haven.

Magic Bristles LLC This project was started with the original cabinets that where yellowed terribly. All cabinet doors and drawers, doors and refrigerator panel where removed ready for preparation and lacquer coatings. The cabinet boxes stayed in the kitchen and where lacquered on site. The customer saved her backs-plash, sink, and appliances because the condition was good for her and we agreed. We also painted the walls in a light gray named Coventry Gray by Benjamin Moore. The door panels, drawers and refrigerator door where installed once the kitchen was completely painted. All work was completed within 2 weeks and the customer was out of her kitchen only 2 days as most of the work was done at our cabinet shop.

This young couple came to us with a strong desire to create a gathering space that would reflect their style by putting the ‘fun’ in function. They wanted to expand their original, cramped, 1950s kitchen. Taking down the wall between the dining room and kitchen allowed for a roomy island adjacent to a large dining table. The antique reproduction tiger maple island ties into the history of the home, while the simple, painted perimeter cabinetry and Fireclay Tile ogee drop backsplash give a nod to the homeowners’ personal flair for mixing midcentury modern and transitional styles. Shiplap detailing was added to the sink wall to provide another layer of texture and finish. Pental Lattice quartz kept the countertops, and the room, light and airy. The kitchen cabinetry is chock full of organizing accessories that make meal preparation and entertaining a breeze. The kitchen, living room, front entry, playroom, and guest bedroom in this three-story Cambridge home were all renovated. The owners wanted a house better suited to entertaining but also appropriate for time together for a family that includes both a teenager and a toddler. Specific improvements on their wish list included a playroom that could handle differing family needs, a custom bar for entertaining, a new fireplace, and an inviting kitchen that would remain distinct but be more connected to adjoining rooms. Adding a fireplace to the living room involved rebuilding the entire back wall of the home. The fireplace mantel was custom designed to match an existing mantel in the nearby dining room, which is original to the home. Sensitivity to the home’s period character was also demonstrated in the third level guest bedroom, where a new window was installed to better match the proportions of the house. In the playroom, care was taken to create zones for three members of the family: The mother enjoys crafting and now has a station directly below existing skylights, the teenager has a semi-private nook at the back of the space for relaxing, and the youngest in the family can enjoy toys and games placed along one wall alongside a rug for playing on the floor. The kitchen is fully upgraded and custom designed to accommodate the mother’s cooking habits, with specific elements including a farmer’s sink in the island and a stainless steel counter with integrated sink for food preparation placed behind it on the counter. To improve storage in the much-used room, corner drawer units were installed, instead of lazy Susan cabinets. Also, the homeowners were not interested in an open floor plan, but did want to improve access to the living room and yard beyond. This was achieved by expanding the opening between the two rooms allowing the cook to engage with nearby family and guests and have a clear view of children playing in the yard. Although large and spacious the original kitchen did not meet the client's needs. The appliances were old and inefficient and the cabinets did not reflect the style of the home. The goal was to design the kitchen for more than one cook and include high-end appliances and stylish cabinetry and finishes. The new design allows for food preparation, cooking and storage areas. The professional style refrigerator allows access from both sides of the island. The microwave oven is beside the refrigerator for quick re-heats while the professional oven at the other end cooks food at remarkable speed. The range top becomes the command center. Plenty of space was allocated at the window at the end of the kitchen for a large table and chairs that overlook a beautiful backyard. A wet bar was located at the opposite end just outside the kitchen along with a walk-in pantry for additional storage. The kitchen is now completed in a traditional style with simple, but elegant, white painted cabinetry. White marble counter tops and back splashes are highlighted by elegant pendant lights above the island.
