Custom millwork was designed and built to exact specifications including a routered custom design on the curved bar. A two-tiered bar was created to allow preparation on the lower level. Across from the bar, is a sitting area and an electric fireplace. Three tv's ensure maximum sports coverage. Lighting accents include slims, led puck, and rope lighting under the bar. A sonas and remotely controlled lighting finish this entertaining haven.

This casita was completely renovated from floor to ceiling in preparation of Airbnb short term romantic getaways. The color palette of teal green, blue and white was brought to life with curated antiques that were stripped of their dark stain colors, collected fine linens, fine plaster wall finishes, authentic Turkish rugs, antique and custom light fixtures, original oil paintings and moorish chevron tile and Moroccan pattern choices.

This young couple came to us with a strong desire to create a gathering space that would reflect their style by putting the ‘fun’ in function. They wanted to expand their original, cramped, 1950s kitchen. Taking down the wall between the dining room and kitchen allowed for a roomy island adjacent to a large dining table. The antique reproduction tiger maple island ties into the history of the home, while the simple, painted perimeter cabinetry and Fireclay Tile ogee drop backsplash give a nod to the homeowners’ personal flair for mixing midcentury modern and transitional styles. Shiplap detailing was added to the sink wall to provide another layer of texture and finish. Pental Lattice quartz kept the countertops, and the room, light and airy. The kitchen cabinetry is chock full of organizing accessories that make meal preparation and entertaining a breeze. This custom wine cellar was designed and built by Vintage Wine Cellars in 2020. We worked 100% remotely with this client to create a beautiful and functional space in unfinished redwood. This wine cellar's wine racking has many versatile features to store different sizes and styles of wines and wine bottles, such as tiered coved trays for large format wine bottles, high reveal display rows, individual bottle storage, Original Wooden Cases, and custom cabinetry. The unique shape and design of this room required a skilled contractor like Vintage Wine Cellars to design and create a completely custom wine cellar - perfectly fit to the shape and flow of the room. This client's room was actually huge - but he just didn't have the need to fill it completely with wine (maybe one day!) The front and rear walls are both fitted with custom racking, divided by open space and a large marble countertop. Although large and spacious the original kitchen did not meet the client's needs. The appliances were old and inefficient and the cabinets did not reflect the style of the home. The goal was to design the kitchen for more than one cook and include high-end appliances and stylish cabinetry and finishes. The new design allows for food preparation, cooking and storage areas. The professional style refrigerator allows access from both sides of the island. The microwave oven is beside the refrigerator for quick re-heats while the professional oven at the other end cooks food at remarkable speed. The range top becomes the command center. Plenty of space was allocated at the window at the end of the kitchen for a large table and chairs that overlook a beautiful backyard. A wet bar was located at the opposite end just outside the kitchen along with a walk-in pantry for additional storage. The kitchen is now completed in a traditional style with simple, but elegant, white painted cabinetry. White marble counter tops and back splashes are highlighted by elegant pendant lights above the island. Finally, this beautiful room is dramatized by a black coffered ceiling accented by lighting above the crown molding.

Mike & Nancy wanted a kitchen that felt open, functional, and inviting. The original layout had limited seating, dated finishes, and lacked the flow they envisioned for everyday life and hosting. Demolition and cleanup were completed to prepare for new cabinetry, countertops, flooring, and lighting. A wall was removed next to the refrigerator to improve sight lines and create more breathing room for the new layout. A new island in Waypoint 530S painted black cabinetry was added with storage on both sides. Perimeter cabinets in Maple Rye paired with matte black pulls, while rollout trays, inserts, and organizers improved functionality. MSI Surfaces Calacatta Izaro quartz countertops were installed with a 12-inch overhang for seating. The countertops extended into a splash that reached the bottom of the upper cabinets, providing continuity and an easy-to-clean surface. The inside of the window was wrapped in quartz to maintain a consistent finish. Lighting transformed the kitchen. Two Hinkley Lark Lane mini pendants were hung above the island, while an Everly Quinn chandelier was placed above the dining table. LED undercabinet strip lighting was installed. Savannah 8x40 porcelain tiles were installed in a random staggered layout across the kitchen, dining, and living room, tying the areas together with one continuous surface. New baseboards and fresh ceiling paint in Sherwin Williams High Reflective White completed the transformation.

The existing kitchen was the original that was placed when the house was build up many years ago, so it was the time to refresh the look and bring in a new kitchen. The design constrains were to keep the new design layout within the current space. The cooking and preparation area was moved to the exterior wall, and the window was pushed a bit to the side to accommodate that. Tall cabinets where placed on the other wall and worked nicely with the slope of the ceiling. The high gloss lacquer door style gave the new kitchen a nice fresh look. The owners desire a whole-house renovation which would improve the general building fabric and systems, and extend the sense of living out of doors in all seasons. The original sixties-modern character is preserved and the renovation extends the design forward into a contemporary, modern approach. Connections to and through the site are enhanced through the creation of new larger window and door openings. Screened porches and decks perch above the sloped and wooded site. The new kitchen and bathrooms allow for opportunities to feel out-of -doors while preparing, cooking, dining, and bathing. Smart passive strategies guide the environmental choices for this project, including envelope improvements, updated mechanical systems, and on-site stormwater management.

My clients wanted a kitchen where they could gather together, prepare meals, and catch up on the latest news of the day. They had two children that wanted a space to do homework while grabbing a snack to eat. The scope of the project included a facelift for the cabinets, new dining table, chairs, countertop, backsplash, island, flooring, appliances, installing a range hood, lighting and barstools. My challenge was designing a kitchen that was functional, efficient and aesthetically pleasing while addressing the specific needs of my clients. We had a good foundation to work with but, the original kitchen was dated and needed an upgrade. We addressed the cabinets, floors, island and lighting first. We wanted to keep with the overall floorplan of the kitchen. The color palette we choose was a cool gray color scheme with warm wood accents. The custom island is a one-of-a-kind feature with an exotic granite slab. The island provides the best way to maximize the kitchen efficiency and storage capacity. Technology was also important addition in the kitchen so we installed smart technology and USB cable outlets. Lighting was another factor—under the counter lighting and in cabinet lighting was installed. In the end, my clients were very happy with the kitchen we designed for them.

This full interior re-paint transformed a farmhouse in Grant Park, Illinois into a clean, modern, and elevated living space. This beautiful, 1,600 SF duplex three-bedroom, two-bath apartment in the heart of the West Village was originally a diamond in the rough with great potential. The coop is located on a quiet, tree-lined street and, as a top floor unit, boasts lovely southern and eastern exposures with views of this charming neighborhood overlooking the Hudson. Our clients were making a big move from the West Coast and wanted the new home to be ready in time for the start of the new school year, so Studioteka’s architecture and interior design team rolled up our sleeves and got to work! Construction documents were prepared for the coop board and NYC Department of Buildings approval and our team coordinated the renovation. The entire unit had new hardwood flooring, moldings, and doors installed, the stairs were gently refinished, and we took down a wall separating the living room from a small den on the lower level, making the living space much more open, light-filled, and inviting. The hot water heater was tucked away in an unused space under the stair landing, allowing for the creation of a new kitchen pantry with additional storage. We gut-renovated the upstairs bathroom, creating a built-in shower niche as well as a brand new Duravit tub, Mirabelle high-efficiency toilet, American Standard matte black fixtures, and a white Strasser Woodenworks vanity with black hardware. Classic white subway tile lines the walls and shower enclosure, while black and white basketweave tile is used on the floor. The matte black towel hooks, toilet roll holder, and towel rod contrast with the white wall tile, and a shower curtain with a delicate black and white pattern completes the room. Finally, new mid-century modern furnishings were combined with existing pieces to create an apartment that is both a joy to come home to and a warm, inviting urban oasis for this family of four.

These homeowners decided to downsize in their retirement years and move closer to family, which turned their eye toward their long-time rental home in central Corvallis. This 1,000 Square Foot home was in good condition but needed many upgrades to make it more energy- and space-efficient. The design, planning, and remodeling of this compact home were completed before and during the sale of the clients’ large historic property elsewhere in Oregon, in preparation for their move. The space originally included a closed-off kitchen, a dated bathroom, and three small bedrooms. The remodel joined two bedrooms into a large Primary Bedroom, leaving the remaining bedroom as a multi-use Office and Guest Room. Our team renovated the unfinished garage, air-sealed the entire home to lower energy costs, and replaced all of the windows and doors with better U-value models. We created a full-access laundry closet, brightened the entryway with new windows, installed new wood ceiling beams, and added a mail center complete with a mail slot. A highlight of the project is the Kitchen remodel, which opened up the Kitchen to the Living Room by removing a portion of wall. The new Rocky Coast Gray cabinetry contrasts against the rich wood tones of the flooring and Alder wood accents throughout the room. Plenty of space was designed for storage, prep, cooking, and serving, including a small coffee nook with its own window near the refrigerator. Two new skylights were added to the Kitchen ceiling, as well as new overhead recessed lighting and under-cabinet dimmable LED lighting for task lighting. The home’s single bathroom was also remodeled to create accessible features, and includes a new sun tunnel in the ceiling to dramatically brighten the room and highlight the stunning new tile installation. We wish these clients many wonderful years enjoying this home with their family!
