This Primary bathroom needed an update to be a forever space, with clean lines, and a timeless look. Now my clients can simply walk into the shower space, for easy access, easy maintenance, and plenty of room. An American Standard step in tub is opposite the shower, which was on their wish list. The outcome is a lovely, relaxing space that they will enjoy for years to come. We decided to mix brushed gold finishes with matte black fixtures. The geometric Herringbone and Hex porcelain tile selections add interest to the overall design.

This project is a case study of a client living in Orlando, USA. In an 80-square-meter room, the client has a combined living room and dining area layout. The overall style of the house leans towards a modern Japanese-inspired natural wood aesthetic. The client's requirement was to find the perfect pendant light for the dining area, ensuring ample illumination while seamlessly blending with the room's style. We recommended this pumpkin pendant light to her, with its 35cm radiating light source capable of illuminating the entire dining area. Once the product was received and installed, the client expressed great satisfaction with the outcome.

These homeowners loved to host, but their original layout was completely failing them functionally. Through our guided process, we transformed the space into a transitional masterpiece, layering crisp stacked cabinets with a character-stained oak island and a hidden forest green pantry. We backed the entire build with our Ownership Promise, absorbing the technical and logistical risks so they could navigate the renovation with absolute peace of mind. For this whole home renovation project, located in Skokie, our team had their work cut out for them. The home, which had been built in the late 60s, was completely out of date. The closed layout made the entire main floor feel very dark, while the mixed use of flooring materials also made the space appear choppy. There was a substantial amount of engineering work to completely open up the entire main level but the outcome is a bright and airy space that feels cohesive throughout. The basement also got a facelift with brand new walls and flooring. The entryway received a fresh coat of stain on the original door with a show-stopping chandelier to crown the area.

The idea was to bring in the feel of Lowell's Industrial Revolution through black and white photographs of the waterways and canals of Lowell. Also to depict the working mills during Lowell's Industrial revolution. Main walls were painted in Benjamin Moore's Lenox Tan with accent walls painted in Benjamin Moore's Silver Pine. Updated the old shower with a new custom ceramic tile shower, all new fixtures, glass door, and tile floor in the lavatory. {Featured Story} Spring, 2015 – This condo was purchased from the estate of the new owner’s parents and refurbished with trendy new touches. There were no close comparables in the Farmington neighborhood with within walking distance to the urban downtown area, so the approach for selling was to create an entirely new set of comparables when the new owner was found. On the market for just days, the renovation, marketing and finishing touches made this a highly sought after, and quick to sell property at top dollar, establishing a new trend in the neighborhood. {Our Process for this Featured Property}: Assessed the initial investment condo, offered suggestions for rehab and renovation. Assisted with Color Theory through color selection and process (no beige in this condo!). Helped select floor and counter materials, tile selection and features in the kitchen and bath. Final staging of the property was done with antiques and housewares, and created a cozy and lived in feel. As a final touch, a party was thrown when the property was completed to invite in friends and family, as well as an open house with freshly baking chocolate chip cookies to make the prospective buyers feel right at home! {Outcome} This property sold in days as a cash sale, at a higher price than anything in the neighborhood – and closed quickly. Both the seller and buyer were thrilled with this transaction!

Architect: Andre Tchelistcheff Architects New York. NY Builder: Xhema of Greenwich CT Installer: TRM Enterprises Bridgehampton NY Back story. Northern has worked with both Xhema and TRM many tiles. We have worked with Andre before he branched out on his own. Originally Xhema’s contact was to replace the roof and repair the garage, which as some point had been made into an indoor swimming pool without adequate ventilation. The budget was about $8m and there were 20 drawings. By the time the job was 6 months old the scope of work has expanded to over $30m and over 200 drawings had been produced. Northern was contacted to visit the site and evaluate the existing roof. Although the house had been added to over the years the same tile was used but due to the location of the house the color of the tile varied considerably from the front to the back. Northern identified a large number of custom details which would require us to: 1) Match the existing Field tile in size, thickness (it was actually thicker at the butt and reduced to ½” where the tile is overlapped) , surface texture and the color. 2) Make tiles that are curved in their length to suit the curved rafter on the gabled dormers. 3) Make the curved tiles to suit the low slope octagonal tower. 4) Make the curved tiles and Arris style hips to suit the hipped dormers with the curved rafters. 5) Make the segmented tiles to suit the round turret. 6) Make the custom arris style hip tiles for the octagonal tower. 7) Make the custom Arris style hip to suit the different roof pitches as well as the varying splays at the eaves. 8) Make the custom pieces to suit the swept valleys Simon broke down each section of the roof. He indented all items for each section and agreed the measure etc with the installers. This ‘Project Bible’ became an invaluable tool for the installer, our tile makers and us. We shipped some samples from the original roof to Sahtas who replicated tall the details. I was visiting factory and delayed my return to the Saturday so that the tiles coming out of the kiln late Friday night could be wrapped and packed into newly purchase suit cases. I arrived home late Saturday evening and Simon picked me up Sunday afternoon and drove us down to Greenwich for an 8 am meeting with the clients. When we unpacked the tiles they were still warm and Hilfiger signed off on the color, although his wife suggested we make them a bit darker a ‘as he has a dreadful sense of color!’ We took Vincent Liot, owner of TRM to the factory twice so that he could oversee the prototyping of all the myriad custom pieces. This was an invaluable move as he pre-approved all the pieces before they were shipped. The installation was completed and everyone was very pleased with the final outcome. The Hilfiger’s estate manager told me that a group of friends who were staying the weekend after all the work was completed were heard to ask Mr. Hilfiger ‘I thought you were having a new roof’…to which he responded ‘we did but you can’t tell, which as the plan” …perfect! In refection this is probably the most complicated roof Northern has ever had the pleasure to supply. We learned a lot of very valuable lessons but in future when we are asked how did we do it we will answer ‘that is for us to know and for you to pay for!’

This modern home with hints of classic design is situated on a hilltop estate in Pacific Palisades, California. Architect and Designer, Michelle Anaya, took on the challenge of renovating the home into the breathtaking residence that it is today. The home features Hallmark Floors: Engineered Hardwood Floors throughout most of the interior. The vision of the interior design was influenced by the outdoors. The home boasts a world-class view highlighted by large windows featuring some of the best sights in the country. Five rigorous years of planning, detailed designing, and extensive renovating resulted in a stunning outcome. “The color of the floor was the perfect selection to compliment the home’s natural landscape with the interior. I needed a floor that would compliment these natural colors… I didn’t want to compete with the sky, the greenery, and the ocean. The floors came out amazing!”

This exterior renovation aimed to revitalize a charming 1960s Southern colonial-style brick home while preserving its timeless appeal. The skilled design team at Revolve embraced the client's vision of a "Transitional Contemporary" style, skillfully blending classic and modern elements to create a truly unique outcome. Revolve updated the home’s curved features, such as the classical columns and rounded bay windows, to achieve this beautiful transformation. They incorporated sleek lines and contemporary materials that exude sophistication. The removal of shutters and the enlargement of existing windows with modern frames and thermal glass enhanced the home’s visual appeal, increased interior natural light, and improved energy efficiency, contributing to the overall well-being of the homeowners. Gone are the days of painted-shut windows; the new windows now open smoothly, bringing a refreshing change! In keeping with the original design of the house, Revolve maintained the existing second-floor porch along the front, eliminating the picket railing and traditional molding. These elements were replaced with square columns and a minimalist custom horizontal metal railing system. Additionally, the team thoughtfully enhanced the continuous masonry façade by removing sections of brick and replacing them with a contemporary wood rainscreen. This adjustment added depth to what was previously a flat elevation and tied together areas of the house that were re-clad from vinyl siding to wood plank. The design team also redefined the geometry of the multiple rooflines and third-floor dormers to create a cohesive overall design. Carefully selected paint and stain colors added warmth and dimension to the updated exterior. Modern elements were introduced into the outdoor space, resulting in a cozy outdoor living area complete with a gas-powered fireplace and a large-screen TV—perfect for enjoying Ravens games with friends and family.

From beige to gray - total home transformation that brought this tired 25 year old home into the 21st century. Added a pergola and cable rails in the back to top it off. Provided a rendering before with different textures and colors to get to this stunning outcome.

This project required 3 contractors (builder, pool contractor, landscaper) to work in unison. The timeline was tight but the outcome was beautiful. The sunroom features a gas fireplace and projection TV. There is also an outdoor kitchen and fireplace.

This kitchen is simple elegance with a modern touch. The beautiful combination of materials makes the perfect outcome. The cabinets are custom maple cabinets painted white. When we envisioned the new landscape within the outdoor living space at Solana Beach Coastal Oasis, we imagined we were sitting poolside at a lushly planted Baja Zen style retreat. The owners of this Solana Beach home wanted plenty of space for outdoor dining and lounging by the pool. We enjoy creating innovative outdoor spaces for clients that can check both boxes. The outcome of this serene coastal landscape design has just the right combination of sleek and rustic elements, while being low maintenance. This outdoor renovation also included some eco-friendly upgrades. We renovated an existing sprinkler system so that it uses 60% less water than traditional systems. To keep it easy for the client, we added a custom Ipe wood pool cover box that also serves as a bench. This box contains the solar pool cover that was a challenge to store and an eyesore in the scenery. We introduced succulents and other low water plants in order to reduce the amount of water that is typically required to keep landscapes thriving in Southern California. For this bedroom interior we added shiplap to the bedroom ceiling, which added depth and texture to the room, freshened up the wall color to a more calming shade, and painted trim to match the shiplap in the bedroom. We also added shiplap to the bathroom vanity and freshened up with a new coat of paint. This repeat customer was very pleased with the outcome.
