Our clients wanted a bigger kitchen to entertain family and friends. They also wanted to spend time outdoors, therefore our designer incorporated a screen porch to the design adjacent to the kitchen area. Natural light was another important request on their wish list, so our designer added large windows with a bench for sitting area which created a relaxing atmosphere in the room. Our client’s last request was to have a small workshop to work on his custom furniture, we extended the basement along with the first floor which provided enough room to work on. Our clients were extremely satisfied with the project outcome. They couldn’t thank us enough about the great experience they had working with us.

Located in the Sky Lofts building in Tribeca (once home to the most expensive apartment sale in NYC), our clients were ready to renovate and modernize their centerpiece kitchen. Due to the unique nature of loft renovations (high ceilings, columns, creative and skillful lighting applications, among other factors), Gallery’s expertise in loft spaces was vital to our clients. In addition to the loft particularities, it’s important in a kitchen of this size to ensure that all the elements have been laid out with purpose from a functional perspective and a design perspective. CENTERPIECE KITCHEN Color was an important design element in this kitchen. This is evident in the striking blues and grays of the marble countertops and backsplash, as well as the dark navy hue of the built-in cabinets. White lower cabinets create two-tone contrast, while glass cabinets and a long wood open shelf make the most of the available height. The built-in cabinets also include built-in appliances: an espresso maker, coffee machine, two side-by-side wine fridges, and even an integrated refrigerator paneled to match the cabinetry for an essentially seamless look. The cabinets are all push-to-open, eliminating knobs to complete the overall sleek, contemporary style. The marble backsplash is also book-matched, meaning the slabs of stone have been cut and polished to match each other, creating a mirroring effect that further contributes to the cohesive, contemporary aesthetic of this apartment. BUILDING CONSIDERATIONS Functional factors are another vital component to New York City apartment building renovations. In this particular project, we had to consider how to get large slabs of stone into the loft without having to cut them up. When working with slabs, and especially when the design is as sleek and contemporary as this one, it’s vital to eliminate seams as much as possible. Elevators and stairs are often not large enough to handle large slabs of stone, which means there are only two other options: cutting the stone and putting it back together on site (but this will create a seam, so it’s not always an option) or using a crane to bring it in through a window. Higher-end buildings tend to have more restrictions and management companies with stricter renovation guidelines – with good reason. A good relationship with the super and staff of the building is absolutely essential; effective communication with everyone involved will result in an ideal outcome for all parties. ARTFUL LOGISTICS Seemingly minor elements such as apartment protections are also just as crucial. While every renovation will require protections in hallways, common spaces, zip walls, and perhaps the floors, those protections are doubled when renovating in an apartment that’s currently occupied. In the case of this particular client, who owned a great deal of valuable artwork in addition to their furniture and other belongings, Gallery exacted their own form of art when putting the protections in place and maneuvering around them with skill. Lisa & Tim hired us for a solution to improve their outdated master bathroom. The master bathroom had a dark and old-fashioned look, and they were looking to create a brighter, more transitional space. Our team had a blast working with them and we are excited about the final outcome! The old shower was cramped and impractical, and they did not have a need for the bathtub. Both areas were demolished creating space for a larger luxury shower with a wall niche. The shower wall tile features Silver Wool tile horizontally stacked on the lower portion and Uptown White elongated subway tile on the upper portion. For the niche, Lisa and Tim chose Elo Hex Porcelain Mosaic and Warm Pebble Blend for the shower floor. We were asked to install new floor tiling and used Pocono 6x24 wood look porcelain tile.

Completed custom tile bathroom in New Braintree, MA by Floor Source of Auburn Floor Source has posted a few times in regards to an exciting custom bathroom tile project we were working on in New Braintree. The Bernardsville project was my first attempt at a hybrid IKEA kitchen; a kitchen that utilizes custom made elements combined with IKEA cabinet frames and interiors. This approach ended up saving the client close to $30k in comparison to a total custom job. The outcome is quite close to the quality level of a custom kitchen save for a few quirky IKEA typical issues. A great option if budget is a big element on the project. This early 2000s Cherry Kitchen needed updated and rearranged to work better for the client's needs. The outcome is an inviting two-tone kitchen with large island and wood hood. This gorgeous kitchen features Omega cabinetry, Cambria Countertops and tile backsplash.

A young couple makes this historic Montclair home there new dream home with plans to completely transform the kitchen foot print. They invited Signature Designs into help that new kitchen vision come to life. We of course removed the wall that was confining the kitchen space but we also decided to take out the kitchen door and relocate the kitchen window. By closing off the old kitchen window we were able to utilize that space for the cooktop and built in oven. This client wanted something playful for the tile so we decided upon this custom marble backsplash cut into half circles and multiple pastels. The backsplash ties the upper and lower cabinetry together perfectly. Even though there is a lot going on in this space the outcome is just spectacular. For this whole home renovation project, located in Skokie, our team had their work cut out for them. The home, which had been built in the late 60s, was completely out of date. The closed layout made the entire main floor feel very dark, while the mixed use of flooring materials also made the space appear choppy. - There was a substantial amount of engineering work to completely open up the entire main level but the outcome is a bright and airy space that feels cohesive throughout. The basement also got a facelift with brand new walls and flooring. The entryway received a fresh coat of stain on the original door with a show-stopping chandelier to crown the area.

This client needed a place to entertain by the pool. They had already done their “inside” kitchen with Bilotta and so returned to design their outdoor space. All summer they spend a lot of time in their backyard entertaining guests, day and night. But before they had their fully designed outdoor space, whoever was in charge of grilling would feel isolated from everyone else. They needed one cohesive space to prep, mingle, eat and drink, alongside their pool. They did not skimp on a thing – they wanted all the bells and whistles: a big Wolf grill, plenty of weather resistant countertop space for dining (Lapitec - Grigio Cemento, by Eastern Stone), an awning (Durasol Pinnacle II by Gregory Sahagain & Sons, Inc.) that would also keep bright light out of the family room, lights, and an indoor space where they could escape the bugs if needed and even watch TV. The client was thrilled with the outcome - their complete vision for an ideal outdoor entertaining space came to life. Cabinetry is Lynx Professional Storage Line. A special LEICHT Westchester | Greenwich project. Located in Chappaqua, Westchester County, NY. this beautiful project was done in two phases, guest house first and then the main house. In the main house, we did the kitchen and butler pantry, living area and bar, laundry room; master bathroom and master closet, three bathrooms. In the guest house, we did the kitchen and bar; laundry; guest bath and master bath. All LEICHT. (via VonDalwig) An existing 1967 complex of three buildings and a pool situated on 13 acres of meadows and wetlands was previously renovated and 2009. The main house was extended and a pool added in that renovation but the addition and pool felt more like a detached limb than an integrated part to the house and the plan adjustments and facade work did little to take advantage of the beautiful property and surroundings. Our approach was to allow the parts – the buildings, the landscape, the pool – to unfold and connect to the whole both inside and out, spatially and programmatically – and to establish relationships between spaces that builds a ‘stage’ allowing a programmatic ‘dance’ for the owners to visually and physically connect to the beautiful exterior setting. We reconfigured the floor plan and exterior openings, directing it towards views and created an exterior pergola that include, rather than exclude, the guest studio while also fulfilling the town pool regulations. The outcome is a subtle framing of multiple platforms that connects in and out.
