Inspiration for a large coastal backyard patio remodel in Los Angeles with a roof extension

We were approached by a Karen, a renowned sculptor, and her husband Tim, a retired MD, to collaborate on a whole-home renovation and furnishings overhaul of their newly purchased and very dated “forever home” with sweeping mountain views in Tigard. Karen and I very quickly found that we shared a genuine love of color, and from day one, this project was artistic and thoughtful, playful, and spirited. We updated tired surfaces and reworked odd angles, designing functional yet beautiful spaces that will serve this family for years to come. Warm, inviting colors surround you in these rooms, and classic lines play with unique pattern and bold scale. Personal touches, including mini versions of Karen’s work, appear throughout, and pages from a vintage book of Audubon paintings that she’d treasured for “ages” absolutely shine displayed framed in the living room. Partnering with a proficient and dedicated general contractor (LHL Custom Homes & Remodeling) makes all the difference on a project like this. Our clients were patient and understanding, and despite the frustrating delays and extreme challenges of navigating the 2020/2021 pandemic, they couldn’t be happier with the results. Kitchen - kitchen idea in San Francisco

When this customer first came to Valet, their garage cabinets were old, falling apart, and not providing the functional storage that they needed to create a multi-purpose space. The clients were looking for cabinetry to fit around the safe, refrigerator, gym equipment and bikes, provide plenty of bulk storage, as well as tool, sports equipment, and overflow pantry storage. With the pandemic causing gyms to shut down throughout California, many clients have been requesting help incorporating home gyms into their garage spaces. Hafele’s Omni-Track slatwall system provides space and hooks for sporting equipment and accessories, while Stylite acrylic mirrored doors provide a whole wall of mirrors to ensure they’re getting their posture right. The workbench is custom created to fit around the window, with a secondary bench cabinet to hold their own toolbox closer to arms reach, with space above for additional Omni-Track. The client worked with their own contractor to insulate and drywall as well as add epoxy flooring. This cabinetry came out beautiful and functional at $12,200.

Long-time clients called us (Landmark Remodeling and PID) back to tackle their kitchen and subsequently the remainder of the main floor. We had worked away over the last 5 years doing smaller projects, knowing one day they would pull the trigger on their kitchen space. After two small boys and working from home through the pandemic, they decided it was time to tear down the wall separating the kitchen and formal dining room and make one large kitchen for their busy, growing family. Tired of working from their tiny apartment during the beginning of the pandemic, we helped these clients bring new life to this adorable split-level home, by focusing on efficiency with a touch of glamour. The existing house from 1952 had great bones, and some fun features, such as a nice layout and corner windows, but was feeling worn and dated, and needed some attention. We were tasked with a quick-turnaround project, celebrating the home’s midcentury past, while making the spaces feel cohesive and fun. We were also asked to create more visual connections between spaces. We designed new walnut cabinetry to surround the existing fireplace, re-worked the home’s entry, replaced the cabinetry in the kitchen, added a bar in the dining room, and enhanced the storage opportunities in the upstairs bedrooms and throughout the house. We continued a clean and modern materials palette throughout. These include warm white walls, refinished dark wood floors, walnut and painted cabinets, and luxe brass fixtures; all the finishes tie together and made the spaces feel more connected and full of whimsy.
