A beautiful southern plantation style home built in Mississippi and designed by Bob Chatham.
From the homeowners: "The main things we wanted to accomplish with building our house were: 1. A home that would accommodate for our family gatherings. We both have fairly large families who live locally. 2. We wanted the house to contain the charm and the look of an old Southern plantation. We feel that this is a classic, timeless look."

Although the kitchen is small – the appeal and the charm makes up for its small size and has a large impact on the functionality with all the modern conveniences and old charm materials.
Homeowners’ request: A contemporary farmhouse kitchen with a bright feel, modern appliances and open shelving for cook books, loads of storage and a space for baking.
I want my space to be functional, yet airy and not cluttered with stuff. I love my garden and would love to have easy access for all my herbs and chili peppers. I love spending my week-ends admiring the endless recipes from my cook books.
Designer secret: The combination of clean, crisp counters and slick appliances contrasts nicely with the heavy pattern of the floor tile and back splash, combining warm tones for the cabinetry and rich black hardware contrasts brings it all together. The blending of painted white trim, warm grey wall paint and the lacquered warm gray-(griege) cabinets, is interesting and layered. It creates more of a custom, blended look as opposed to an all white kitchen.
Materials used: CABINETS; double shaker custom doors with a polymer matte finish lacquer color Sico 6206-42 – QUARTZ COUNTERS; Lynx of Siberia – FLOOR TILE; Unika Freedom 24” x 24” – BACKSPLASH; Arabesque warm grey – WALL PAINT; 6206-21 Sketch paper

Fun and whimsical family room & kitchen remodel. This room was custom designed for a family of 7. My client wanted a beautiful but practical space. We added lots of details such as the bead board ceiling, beams and crown molding and carved details on the fireplace.
The kitchen is full of detail and charm. Custom paper towel drawer keeps it handy but out of sight. Pocket door storage allows a drop zone for the kids and can easily be closed to conceal the daily mess. Beautiful fantasy brown marble counters and white marble mosaic back splash compliment the herringbone ceramic tile floor. Built-in seating opened up the space for more cabinetry in lieu of a separate dining space. This custom banquette features pattern vinyl fabric for easy cleaning.
We designed this custom TV unit to be left open for access to the equipment. The sliding barn doors allow the unit to be closed as an option, but the decorative boxes make it attractive to leave open for easy access.
The hex coffee tables allow for flexibility on movie night ensuring that each family member has a unique space of their own. And for a family of 7 a very large custom made sofa can accommodate everyone. The colorful palette of blues, whites, reds and pinks make this a happy space for the entire family to enjoy. Ceramic tile laid in a herringbone pattern is beautiful and practical for a large family. Fun DIY art made from a calendar of cities is a great focal point in the dinette area.

The scenic landscape wallpaper mural brings classic charm and visual depth to the dining room — an elegant backdrop that makes the entire space feel timeless and inviting.

A Peter Fasano spatter design wallpaper in black, gold and silver on a paperbag colored ground travels up and onto the cove to meet a ceiling covered in a Koroseal vinyl wallcovering that looks like Chinese tealeaf paper in gold. Vinyl you say? Trust me it looks good. You can't see it in the photo but the interior side of our front door is painted Ben Moore #1315 Poppy. We can't have our own color on the exterior, so we figured this was the next best option.

With today's melamine selection, you can create practical, resistant, beautiful solutions without breaking the bank. In this laundry / mudroom / powder room, I was able to do just that, by building a wall to wall storage area, incorporating the washer and dryer, sink area, above cabinetry, hanging and folding stations, this once dated, dark and gloomy space got a makeover that the client is proud to use .
