This is one of several custom made gates for a Tuscan Villa style home in Newport Beach, CA. Dynamic Garage Door worked closely with the proud homeowners to achieve a rustic style gate that transmitted the essence of Tuscany's rugged riviera homes. The gates features world-class European hardware including mortise style locks with roller catches and decorative iron pulls that feel authentic to the touch because they were made much in the same way tradition has dictated for centuries. The goal was to achieve an architectural gate design that would harmonize, not compete, with the home's earthy elements including the rock walls and neutrally toned color scheme. We chose oak as our reclaimed barn wood species for its brown tones that differ from your typical pine species which give you a silver appearance. Oak give off a warmer, brown coloration that is closer to the tonalities found in Tuscan homes. Nothing gives is more impressive than reclaimed bar wood gates because of the unique lumber characteristics that were given by mother nature over decades and centuries, nothing that can be achieved over night. Kitchen - transitional kitchen idea in San Francisco

The yoga studio was conceived as a modern interpretation of a Japanese Tea House perched at the edge of a dry pond amidst a traditional walking garden. Many of the design and construction elements abstractly reference traditional Japanese woodworking and construction techniques. The studio is lifted above the ground by two large carrying beams providing the sense that the structure is floating at the edge of the stone pond. The studio itself is designed as a glass lantern, wrapped by a wooden screen. The sliding glass doors extend the studio space onto a deck proportioned for yoga mats. The glass windows wrap the corners of the studio allowing uninterrupted views into the garden and highlight special existing trees at the periphery. The lantern effect is most evident at the rear of the studio where the Ipe screen passes in front of two operable windows that provide ventilation, and illuminate from within at night. The proportions of the wood screen itself change shape to allow more air and light into the rear of the studio. The western red cedar ceiling of the studio creates a plane that extends from the exterior to the interior of the glass wall. As the ceiling plane translates from the exterior to the interior, passing the glass wall, the plane shifts above the structure exposing the cedar joists and allowing us to install indirect lighting within the studio. The design of the gardens was carefully crafted and installed by Land Design Associates and the Owners to create this spectacular backyard oasis in the center of sub-urban Newton, Massachusetts.

Design ideas for a small traditional full sun backyard landscaping in St Louis.

The project consists of a two-story private residence and involves the use of four deliberately not new containers, two for each floor, perpendicular to each other to form a Latin cross. My interest in houses built with shipping containers began around 2015, when the use of containers as building materials became increasingly popular thanks to their resistance, wide availability, low cost and eco-friendliness. Always passionate about eco-friendly and sustainable architecture, in 2016 I decided to design my own house using shipping containers with the hope of one day being able to realize my dream: building a residence designed by myself and which reflects what I am passionate about and in which I believe from an architectural point of view. Since at the time I created the project I did not yet have land on which to build, the design was designed to be totally flexible, since the two floors can be reversed according to the needs of the land, without compromising the design and/or the livability of the house. In 2019 I bought the land where the house was built, a 1,500 m² property with a 360 degree view of the sea and hills without, however, a flat area. The containers were perfect for this type of terrain: being very light structures, they do not require large foundations and, consequently, the preparation of the ground is much quicker and much less invasive. Considering the exposure and shape of the land, as well as the 360 ​​degree view of the same, I decided to locate the two bedrooms on the first floor, with a complete bathroom and the walk-in closet for the master bedroom, while on the second floor we find an open space with kitchen, dining area and living room, a complete bathroom with laundry and two terraces. Outside, the house is surrounded by concrete slabs over artificial grass, and there is also an infinity pool that overlooks the sea view. The external appearance of the containers was deliberately left "raw", without covering them or eliminating traces of time and their journey, such as dents. The interior, however, contrasts with the attention to detail and the use of designer materials, lamps, furniture and other elements. The floor was covered with an epoxy resin and different techniques were used on the walls to create accents, such as marmorino, Venetian plaster, wallpaper, murals and rough stucco. The entrance and corridor on the first floor also serve as an art gallery, with works by local artists, to support the local economy. Both bathrooms are covered in porcelain tiles from the Mirage line, the taps are Graff brand and the bathroom furniture is by Lago Design, with Depth sinks in transparent glass, made from a carved trunk of century-old Wildwood oak. The heat treatment applied to the wood allows for total impermeability to water and very high resistance. A floating iron staircase passes above the office area with Punt furniture and leads to the second floor, where the Lube brand kitchen with Dekton worktops, Smeg appliances and sink are located. The dining table is P&J by Lago Design, the Lodes lamp with Diesel and the living room furniture are from the Spanish brand Fama. Finally, the outdoor furniture is designed by Roda, Tecninova and DKL. Construction, which began at the end of 2021, was completed in November 2022.

Walls; Fireplace Surrounds, Partition and Structural Walls, Concrete Bottle Nook beneath kitchen countertop: We wanted to recreate a wall that had fissures, cracks and veins that would resemble the cliffs that the house was constructed on. It should be noted that we were not so concerned with exactly replicating the surrounds, but only to give the feel/impression of the surrounds. The technique used to pour the walls was to randomly pour the concrete in the formed walls and lightly vibrate them as we wanted to keep some random air pockets to produce a bug holed rock look (too much vibration would limit the fissure effect). Once we made a first pass with the concrete in the wall…sometimes pouring a third at a time (or even two-thirds at a time depending where we wanted the fissure/fissures) we would stop and move the concrete pump to a different location and then we placed stones, shells etc onto the top of the irregular tops of the wall. In 30-45 minutes, after the initially poured concrete in the wall took a slight set, we would pour concrete again over the first pour which we dropped/placed rocks and shells on the top of the partially set up wall.

We chose two different shades of it for those wide, horizontal stripes railroading the length of the space. They really pull you into the apartment. We used a Venetian plaster technique to give the walls texture and substance. They help make the foyer feel like a space you want to be in, not just pass through.
