After shot of area near fence. This bed is in the front of the house and very close to the street. Thus, it was designed with both color, varying interest and punctuation in mind. The use and repetition of the Sky Pencil Hollies provides this punctuation and also an evergreen element to an otherwise continuous run of fencing. The Lorapetalum shrubs provide a nice contrast and also a semi-evergreen touch. The tall Phlox paniculata towards the front provide a break in color with their white color and an inviting fragrance as you enter the side garden towards the backyard. The purple Verbena provide long lasting summer color. Red Peonies will make their debut in late Spring/Early Summer, and tall Lillies add a touch of whim and delight!

The client's existing patio was as seen and we simply extended it, thereby increasing the overall outdoor living space. We also installed the privacy fence with a 7' tall cedar fence in a Board to Board style. The lattice is a horizontal lattice to relate to the elegant and classic lines of the house. On the other side of the yard which is mostly sod with a bed along the fence, we have provided taller screening as the adjoining houses are close together. We installed a screen with some seasonal interest including Fastigiate Hornbeams and Emerald Green Arborvitaes. We also installed a large Bracken's Magnolia at the corner of the right backyard to screen the tall electrical pole and a Rising Sun Redbud for seasonal color and additional screening from the client's family room windows.
