Selecting the perfect pendant lighting was one of the important design decisions in this luxury historic kitchen renovation. The fixtures needed to be beautifully proportioned for the space while honoring the timeless character of the 250-year-old Federal-style home. Achieving the right scale was essential—not only to provide balanced illumination over the island but also to preserve the room's architectural harmony and intimate feel.
The chosen pendant lights bridge historic inspiration and modern performance, introducing period-appropriate character without appearing overly formal or theatrical. Their carefully considered size, silhouette, and finish complement the handcrafted cabinetry, soapstone countertops, exposed brick, and vintage-inspired details throughout the kitchen. More than a source of task lighting, the pendants serve as sculptural focal points that reinforce the home's authentic heritage while contributing to a warm, inviting atmosphere.
This thoughtful lighting selection demonstrates how proper scale, timeless design, and layered illumination are essential elements of a bespoke luxury kitchen, where every fixture is chosen to enhance both beauty and function.

Gardening opportunities are sharply defined by the seasons in New England’s variable climate. Our team was tasked with expanding the growing season for Newtonville, Massachusetts homeowners. The clients envisioned a structure that could perform double duty by serving as both a fully functional four season greenhouse as well as a comfortable home extension. The resulting 24’ x 11’ hybrid addition stunningly captures the sun’s rays while keeping the elements at bay.
The project required careful architectural planning. Working in close collaboration with the team at Legault Design LLC of Concord, MA, Sunspace fabricated a custom aluminum framework that complements the home’s existing aesthetic. Our aluminum products have terrific strength-to-weight ratios allowing for slender profile lines that maximize glass areas without sacrificing structural integrity. Aluminum framing is also inherently resistant to the high humidity levels typical of a working greenhouse. This was doubly important given the space’s dual purpose.
Another key to this greenhouse’s performance is found in its glazing. A glass structure intended for year-round habitation demands intelligent thermal management. We outfitted the enclosure with Cardinal Low-E 366 high-performance glass. Cardinal’s 1” thick insulated units, filled with argon gas, act as a crucial thermal barrier. These units also feature a specialized coating blocking 95% of damaging UV rays, enabling them to retain heat in the winter while reflecting it during the summer. The best modern glass technology allows spaces like this one to remain temperate sanctuaries in any environmental condition.
This greenhouse’s design incorporates three expansive 42” x 60” awning windows to encourage natural airflow, and the 10′ folding glass wall system dissolves the boundary between the interior and exterior yard when fully opened. The seamless indoor-outdoor flow is perfect for summer entertaining or simply letting the space breathe. The space is instantly adaptable to the needs of the moment, whether shielding the home from harsh snows or thrown open to invite a summer breeze.

This bespoke bathroom transformation redefines modern luxury through a soft, sculptural lens. The focal point is a breathtaking Calacatta Viola marble walk-in shower, featuring dramatic purple veining that creates a natural focal piece against the muted, plaster-finish dusty rose walls.
Every element was chosen to balance architectural precision with playful geometry:
Custom Floating Vanity: A light-oak tambour vanity sits atop oversized spherical feet, echoing the "Post-Memphis" design trend.
Organic Silhouettes: An asymmetrical, pebble-shaped mirror is flanked by sleek, brushed-nickel cone sconces, providing soft, ambient task lighting.
Textural Flooring: Micro-mosaic checkered floor tiles ground the space with a subtle, vintage-inspired pattern that complements the contemporary finishes.
High-End Fixtures: A wall-mounted rainfall shower system and integrated deck-mount faucet in satin nickel provide a timeless, high-performance finish.
This project is an invitation to experience sensory design, where the coolness of stone meets the warmth of textured plaster and light wood.

The design of this home drew upon historical styles, preserving the essentials of the original movement while updating these elements with clean lines and modern materials. Peers Homestead drew upon the American Farmhouse. The architectural design was based on several factors: orientation with views and connection to seasonal water elements, glass cubes, simplistic form and material palette, and steel accents with structure and cladding. To capture views, the floor to ceiling windows in the great room bring in the natural environment into the home and were oriented to face the Spanish Peaks. The great room’s simple gable roof and square room shape, accompanied by the large glass walls and a high ceiling, create an impressive glass cube effect. Following a contemporary trend for windows, thin-frame, aluminum clad windows were utilized for the high performance qualities as well as the aesthetic appeal.

Lighting or illumination is the deliberate use of light to achieve a practical or aesthetic effect. Lighting includes the use of both artificial light sources like lamps and light fixtures, as well as natural illumination by capturing daylight. Day-lighting (using windows, skylights, or light shelves) is sometimes used as the main source of light during daytime in buildings. Proper lighting can enhance task performance, improve the appearance of an area, or have positive psychological effects on occupants.
Indoor lighting is usually accomplished using light fixtures, and is a key part of interior design. Lighting can also be an intrinsic component of landscape projects.

Chicagoland Home Products knows that when clients must multi-task, they want rooms in their house, condo or apartment that will work as hard as they do. CHP designed a custom office built-in with a murphy bed in Northfield, Illinois, that provides two rooms in one.
An office was essential. In these times of working out of the home or rocking a side gig, an office that you can walk to without leaving your house is often a necessity. Since space costs money, making that office perform double duty as a bedroom is an economical idea.
Some people make do with a desk crammed in the corner of a bedroom and call it an office. That is not the case with Chicagoland Home Product’s custom storage solution. Rustic Cherry finish sparks an office that is very office-like with a desk, file storage and a place for office supplies.
Other people make do with an air mattress thrown on the floor, crammed next to an office chair and call it a bedroom. Not so here. The same Rustic Cherry ignites a classy bedroom with side cabinets and shelves for storage.
What you have here is an office that is an office and a bedroom that is, really, a bedroom. Those two rooms occupy the same space with panache. It can be done, as you see in the pictures.

Most of our projects are completed in residential areas ranging from rural to suburban, but we occasionally have an opportunity to do work in the heart of a metropolitan space. This project represents one such opportunity. Sunspace Design was tasked with the construction of a gorgeous, private greenhouse in the center of Boston’s historic Beacon Hill neighborhood, and we’re thrilled to show you the results.
The project required the introduction of a brick greenhouse foundation and granite cap. The structure was framed on top of this in black, powder-coated aluminum, and eventually outfitted with large glass panes. An additional ridge crest gives the Victorian structure provides an amazing silhouette.
A number of great features warrant mentioning. The project includes motorized, thermostatically controlled ridge vents and a full HVAC split system to ensure top thermal performance. The client’s ease of operation was also addressed via the installation of remote controlled shades. Smoked privacy glass in the rear of the structure offers some solitude, and a mirage window wall with accordion doors at the front of the structure blend beauty and functionality.
