Formal lawn panel and rose garden, craftsman style wood deck and trellis, homages to Goldsworthy and Stonehenge with large boulders and a large stone cairn, several water features, a Japanese Torii gate, rock walls and steps, vegetables and herbs in containers and a new parking area paved with permeable pavers that feed an underground storage area that in turns irrigates the garden. Sand set brick paving is a sustainable and permeable solution for your next paving and walkway project. On this project, brick was laid in a basket weave pattern for a traditional look.

Moving from the city, these homebuilders bought a vacant lot in the country, allowing them to put their dreams and ideals to reality. KKLA sited the house and outdoor living spaces to take advantage of protection from afternoon sun and winds. The straw-bale construction and orientation of the house allow for indoor comfort during the hottest days, without the use of air-conditioning. Meanwhile, sustainable practices such as bio-swales and permeable paving complement the drought-tolerant landscape. The property now feels abundant and complete with native plants, wildflower meadows, fruit trees, and a vegetable garden, not to mention an organic vineyard, a lavender farm, a barn and horse paddocks, chickens and a faithful old lab. Hawkeye Landscape Design We began this project with the idea of making a friendly entryway and social area under the Mulberry tree which provides much needed shade in this hot, mountainous area. The 'red fescue' meadow grass has a cooling effect and the agaves reduce the need for excess water and maintenance. The backyard has a covered dining area with a corner lounge and fireplace. The large barbecue offers a cantilevered counter for entertaining. The waterfall into the pool is surrounded with bamboo and plantings that emulate the hillside beyond the property. The permeable paving and mix of Vitex and Olive trees provide shade for smaller seating areas to enjoy the variety of succulents throughout the garden

Lake Tahoe, NV: Antique limestone curb, imported from Europe. 350 LF of curb, 6" wide x 6" tall x random lengths 24" to 48" long. Cobblestone is antique reclaimed granite 5" x 5" sawn at 2" for installation over a radiant heating system.
