The owners of this home came to us with a plan to build a new high-performance home that physically and aesthetically fit on an infill lot in an old well-established neighborhood in Bellingham. The Craftsman exterior detailing, Scandinavian exterior color palette, and timber details help it blend into the older neighborhood. At the same time the clean modern interior allowed their artistic details and displayed artwork take center stage. We started working with the owners and the design team in the later stages of design, sharing our expertise with high-performance building strategies, custom timber details, and construction cost planning. Our team then seamlessly rolled into the construction phase of the project, working with the owners and Michelle, the interior designer until the home was complete. The owners can hardly believe the way it all came together to create a bright, comfortable, and friendly space that highlights their applied details and favorite pieces of art. Arabescato Vagli Marble is a metamorphic rock, which is a rock that has been physically and chemically transformed over time due to intense heat and pressure.

The new layout opens up the plan to allow for greater flexibility and longer site lines. The kitchen work area, guest gathering/bar, and dining area are defined by both lighting and floor pattern rather than large physical elements.

The house had one existing cedar column which seemed somewhat out of place. By adding a pergola with large cedar beams, the existing column made more sense and we gave the space a sense of enclosure. Keeping the roof open allowed natural light to reach the windows and made a physical connection between the house and the pool, helping to blur the lines between which was built first. Each motif begins as a hand painted artwork, then is carefully transformed into repeat for tile application. Blending traditional craftsmenship with modern surface design. This Celery Antique distressed custom cabinetry makes it easy to add a touch of old world originality in the home. The homeowner discovered unique wrought iron panel inserts to aid in the styling of this armoire. The subtlety of beaded inset vintage doors helps to accentuate the time worn appearance of this unique custom cabinet. Exhibit timeless heirlooms on Bisque physically aged shelving units, or show those old fashioned collections behind display cabinetry perfectly suited for doing just that
