This small galley kitchen in Manhattan needed an efficient layout, and clean lines and materials that created more visual space. Kitchen designer Robert Dobbs put together a modern design including upper cabinets in Titan Pine wood grain laminate and base cabinets in a warm, neutral yet dramatic high gloss truffle grey for clients who wanted "not another white kitchen!" Floating corner shelves with LED lighting add to the sense of space and provide task lighting. The vent hood's glass canopy helps it disappear. Upper cabinets include bifold doors that open up and make the ceiling look higher. Thin countertops and handle-free base cabinets continue the simple, horizontal and clean, linear design. Love the contemporary features that exude warmth in this kitchen. The countertops are leathered Virginia Mist Natural Granite, providing a great textured look and feel to the counters. The granite on the raised seating bar has a 2½” mitered edge, so the counter appears 2 ½’ thick. The almost iridescent backsplash is a Walker-Zanger weave stix Pacific Glass. This is a very striking backsplash and the color actually changes with the different light during the day, from aqua to periwinkle. The floor we see in front of the raised bar is beautiful hardwood; inside the kitchen, we have a travertine porcelain tile. Beautiful and practical, this kitchen has really durable surfaces. Meant to last and be enjoyed.

This beautiful island is covered in a leathered marble called Super White. This stone is actually two pieces of marble, to create extra thickness for the island, giving us a 6 cm profile edge. The same marble is used on the perimeter counters and the full height backsplash behind the cook top. You can also see the recessed farmhouse sink, making this gorgeous island a great working space too.

Love the clean, functional lines in this laundry room, with Spanish Marble in Café Bruno countertop. This is a nice soft marble with veins of brown throughout. And, of course, who can resist the two King Penguins standing guard?

The second island in this island home is a great "eating bar". The raised bar offers plenty of space for several guests to pull up a stool to chat and eat. This island is a Caesarstone quartz countertop in Espresso. The dark brown Espresso color is a nice anchor for the kitchen and a great contrast to the Super White Marble covering the middle island.
