This is part of a whole home remodel we completed and featured in the Home Builder's Association Showcase of Remodeled Homes. This room is probably the biggest transformation in the whole home. What was previously an unused garage in the home, will now become a mudroom and entertainment area for the home. We removed non-structural walls at the entry to the rest of the home to allow for more flow from the home into the room. The utility room previously was not actually large enough for the utilities, and there was a hole cut into the wall to allow the unit to fit. To resolve this issue the wall of the utility room was brought out into the space. Additionally, the plumbing and drainage for the water softner was not properly drained from the room and just went through small pvc pipes (that you can see in the photo) that went over the floor to a hole in the center of the room. The plumbing and drainage was completely rebuilt and re-plumbed through the ceilings to drain properly into the house lines. The room also used to be a step down into the garage, so once the plumbing was adjusted a new slab was poured to bring it up to the same level. Heating and electrical were brought into the room to make it a livable space. Can lighting was installed to bring in light without affecting the ceiling height. We transformed a small, outdated space into a modern, functional retreat for our recent bathroom remodeling project. This comprehensive renovation began with a complete demolition, taking the bathroom down to the studs. We removed all existing fixtures, walls, flooring, and old plumbing, creating a blank canvas for our vision. First, we addressed the plumbing. The old, corroded pipes were replaced with new, durable materials, ensuring reliable water flow and pressure for years to come. We installed new supply lines and drainage to accommodate the new fixtures, including the vanity and shower. Next, we updated the electrical system. The outdated wiring was replaced with new, up-to-code electrical work. We installed new outlets, switches, and light fixtures, providing ample lighting for the space. An exhaust fan was also installed to improve ventilation and prevent moisture buildup, essential for maintaining the bathroom's longevity and hygiene. We then focused on HVAC improvements, adding a new duct and vent system to ensure proper heating and cooling. This upgrade enhances comfort and contributes to better air quality and energy efficiency. For the flooring, we chose ceramic tiles with a wood plank look. These tiles offer the warmth and elegance of wood while providing the durability and water resistance of ceramic. The flooring was meticulously installed, creating a seamless and visually appealing surface. The centerpiece of the remodel is the stock single-sink vanity. This stylish yet practical addition provides ample storage and counter space, making daily routines more convenient. Above the vanity, we installed a sleek mirror that adds both functionality and a touch of sophistication. The shower area received a complete makeover with new tiles and an adjustable rain shower head. The tile work extends from floor to ceiling, creating a cohesive and luxurious feel. The adjustable rain shower head offers a customizable bathing experience, combining both style and comfort. This small bathroom remodel exemplifies our commitment to quality and attention to detail. By starting from the studs and rebuilding with modern, high-quality materials, we've created a space that is beautiful and built to last. Our client now enjoys a stylish, functional bathroom that meets their needs and enhances their home's value.

We brought in more light by enlarging most of the openings to the rear and adding a sliding glass door in the kitchen. The kitchen features custom zebrawood cabinets, CaesarStone counters, stainless steel appliances and a large, deep square sink. The bathroom features a wall-hung Duravit vanity and toilet, recessed lighting, custom, built-in medicine cabinets and geometric glass tile. Wood tones in the kitchen and bath add a note of warmth to the clean modern lines. We designed a soft blue custom desk/tv unit and white bookshelves in the living room to make the most out of the space available. A modern JØTUL fireplace stove heats the space stylishly. We replaced all of the Victorian trim throughout with clean, modern trim and organized the ducts and pipes into soffits to create as orderly look as possible with the existing conditions.

Eran Chelcinski and the team worked tirelessly for over a year to get approval, plan and execute this conversion. They removed two walls in the common area, framed two new bedrooms in the new apartment, as well as framing a new bathroom - wet over dry. In addition to the new spaces, electrical was installed in the all new framing area. The apartment required upgraded plumbing for the waste and water lines for the new bathroom, and washer and dryer. Two heat pipes were also relocated in this process.

This 16’x32' freeform gunite swimming pool custom constructed in Massapequa NY. The pool shell consists of 10" concrete walls and an 8" concrete floor. The pool was shot with gunite cement, over 6" of over sized gravel base, 12 inches on center, 1/2” rebar metal cage and 6" apart center rods in any areas that the pool is deeper than 48”. All plumbing is done with 2" hard PVC schedule 40 piping. All of the equipment is Hayward including 400,000 BTU gas heater, a salt chlorine generator, ozone system, pumps, and cartridge filter. The pool is 46" to 66" deep which makes it a non-diving pool. In the deep end of the pool, there is a bench with special jets through which air and water are pushed at a higher speed to create a spa effect. Porcelain pool tiles were installed at the water line; the finish of the pool is cool blue diamond bright quartz. The steps and benches were highlighted with diamond shaped 2”x2” tiles. The coping patio and raised patio wall were created with Nicolock products. 6”x12" bullnose, ridge stone patio pavers with brown inlays and mini colonial walls and caps are all in travertine color. XS residence is a living concept proposal for singles. The project is characterized by its L-shaped, elevated floor. The height differences on the floor as well as on the ceiling are the sole elements that define the space. The apartment is hence transparent, yet given the sense of rooms and corners. This former warehouse has existing pipes cutting through the interior at the entry where it resulted in stairs and undesirable, immediate climbs. By embracing the obstacle and extending it, the reading of the new, one bedroom apartment is as pure as lines (flows) and surfaces (spaces). The heart of the radial layout is a sunken gathering platform. This introvert space is embraced by the elevated floor, which serves as the extension of seating, The visitors thereby sit naturally facing each other and converse. The elevated outer ring is an active, fluid platform which receives visitors. At its height, the dinning guests have a great view toward the city skyline which is otherwise hindered. This space also creates a buffer to the exterior where neighbors pass by. The renovation removed the old flat ceiling, exposing the pitched roof structure to enhance the scale change of the space. The apartment is at its maximum height where activities and interactions take place and shrinks at the perimeter. It is an open layout with sense of spaces and intimacy.

After returning from a winter trip to discover his house had been flooded by a burst second-floor pipe, this homeowner was ready to address the renovations and additions that he had been pondering for about a decade. It was important to him to respect the original character of the c. +/- 1910 two-bedroom small home that had been in his family for years, while re-imagining the kitchen and flow. In response, KHS proposed a one-story addition, recalling an enclosed porch, which springs from the front roof line and then wraps the house to the north. An informal front dining space, complete with built-in banquette, occupies the east end of the addition behind large double-hung windows sized to match those on the original house, and a new kitchen occupies the west end of the addition behind smaller casement windows at counter height. New French doors to the rear allow the owner greater access to an outdoor room edged by the house to the east, the existing one-car garage to the south, and a rear rock wall to the west. Much of the lot to the north was left open for the owner’s annual summer volley ball party. The first-floor was then reconfigured, capturing additional interior space from a recessed porch on the rear, to create a rear mudroom entrance hall, full bath, and den, which could someday function as a third bedroom if needed. Upstairs, a rear shed dormer was extended to the north and east so that head room could be increased, rendering more of the owner’s office/second bedroom usable. Windows and doors were relocated as necessary to better serve the new plan and to capture more daylight. This formal living room was created by punctuating layers of deep blues and airy seafoam greens with bright goldenrod accents. Clean lines were combined with rustic textures to maintain a consistent feel with the rest of the home. The sofa, chairs, bench and shutters were customized for this particular space. New accessories were mixed in with some of the homeowner's most treasured trinkets.

This 1949 South Minneapolis home had an underutilized, unwelcoming basement with old, dark paneling in the family room, and an unfinished laundry, storage and work shop area. Headroom was at a premium because of low hanging duct work, plumbing and gas lines.Castle Building & Remodeling transformed this basement by creating a much more welcoming, well-lit and functional family room, with an added egress window, built-in storage units and a media area with a flat screen TV. Duct work and piping in the unfinished half of the basement was raised or consolidated to give adequate headroom for a bright and spacious new laundry area. A new 3/4 bath completes the package, along with a built-in linen cabinet in the finished hallway. Storage areas were consolidated in separate areas of the basement with their own access doors. The family now eagerly uses the basement space as a regular part of their home, no longer dreading the trip down to the ‘cellar’.

We installed a new Rinnai Tankless water heater. We installed isolation valves for access to do proper maintenance, we also added an expansion tank to help prevent build up of high pressure in the system. We installed a new a descaler to help reduce lime and all waters scale. New shut off valves were installed on water and gas supply lines going to the tankless water heater. We installed a new sediment trap on the water heater to prevent sediments in the gas pipe from getting into the tankless water heater.
