It is also symmetrically compartmentalized. There’s a cross-like barrier that divides the large upper portion into 4 quadrants. The top 2 of these are small open cubbies that can be used to organize shoes or even feature a decoration piece or two or hand-woven baskets. The bottom compartments are, however, much taller with four 2 prong hooks installed, designed to hang your clothes and coats upon entering. The bottom part features a large pullout drawer for extra storage right below the platform meant to facilitate seating. The platform base reveals a sleek elliptical arch design. A Distressed Medallion Designer Maple Island in Black Heirloom with caffe glaze was added to accent the room. Instead of a typical sink an undermount 4’ Galley workstation was installed. Accessories for the Galley included an upper tier cutting board, an 11” bowl, an 11” colander, 1 lower tier platform with cutout for bowl/colander, 1 lower tier platform and a galley drain rack. For the faucet, we installed a new Delta Pilar Single Handle Pull Down faucet with Touch 20 Technology in brushed nickel and a drinking water faucet. A new 3cm Cambria Quartz countertop in Canterbury color was installed. The backsplash is 4x4 San Mateo honed tumbled tile with San Mateo pencil molding and San Mateo 2x2 rope border behind the range accented with 1x1 Sonoma glass tiles in Hemp color.

An Asian-inspired courtyard walkway features Fiberon composite decking and is flanked with white stone gravel, walk-way lighting, a bamboo container garden, and bench seating, which was built from the same composite deck board material. Located in the picturesque San Luis Drive neighborhood, the Okimoto Residence was a major remodel and addition. What started as a minor facelift, the project underwent a series of design iterations to address the growing family's needs. The clients wanted a clean and contemporary home that wouldn't stick out in this typically traditional San Luis Obispo neighborhood. The final design was a 4 bedroom home with a large great room and play room. A 9' x 16' pocketing slider door opens the great room to the lush backyard which sits directly adjacent to the San Luis Creek. Smooth trowel stucco, a standing seam metal roof, and a texas limestone clad spine wall blend seamlessly with the warmer trim accents and clear cedar eaves. On the interior, the thoughtfully selected finishes provide a clean and inviting space that compliment the young, growing family's lifestyle.
