Blending a modern sensibility with traditional architecture, this garden features a front yard meadow with native grasses (Carex praecracilis) and wildflowers. Poured-in-place concrete pavers in a meandering pattern slow the approach from the sidewalk to the entry. The modestly-sized backyard has been maximized for entertaining with outdoor dining and lounging areas and subtle landscape lighting. DBK Builders designed and built this property from scratch in 2005 with the original owners. When the property sold to new homeowners, they desired an updated, contemporary interior aesthetic. We were brought in by these clients to work in conjunction with the Interior Designer to execute the updated remodel and design. Some of our interior remodeling work included pulling out the old fireplace and chimney and its finish and installing a new linear fireplace and stone chimney beneath the mounted television; pulling out all the old flooring and replacing with new whitestained oak flooring throughout the whole 7,000 square foot home; replacing all the countertops, cabinets, and appliances in the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry room. This ensuite bathroom features a custom wood floating vanity finished with polished chrome hardware. A quartz stone countertop and recessed sink creates an easy-to-clean space. The luxury walk-in glass shower is designed with a built-in niche to hold any soaps or shampoos. This calm and relaxing ensuite bathroom is a personal oasis.

This newly renovated contemporary kitchen is a hub of socializing. An 8-foot long kitchen island with a waterfall quartz countertop increases storage and prep surfaces for cooking. Warm wood elements give a soft touch to the classic white custom millwork. Floating wood shelves give a designer’s touch, allowing special dishes to be put on display. A built-in refrigerator adds to the clean and refined aesthetic.

This upbeat contemporary living area includes wide-plank hardwood flooring spanning across the lower level. A light wall colour contrasted to a black stone fireplace creates a bold focal point. Asymmetrical shelving flanking the fireplace adds a fun and groovy stylistic design. This cozy living space is perfect to lounge in after a long day of work.
