Pool - large pool idea in New York

This is a rectangular pool that is centered on the family room windows of the primary focal point of the house. The spa is recessed in the pool to provide good access and not break up the symmetrical lines of the space. By viewing the length of the pool it gives the allusion of more depth to the yard. The understated diving platform provides the only safe place to dive in the pool and a water feature to drown out street noise. Colored and textured concrete were used for the deck and to cap the existing porches. Designed by Mike Farley.

A small enclosed kitchen is very common in many homes such as the home that we remodeled here. Opening a wall to allow natural light to penetrate the space is a must. When budget is important the solution can be as you see in this project - the wall was opened and removed but a structural post remained and it was incorporated in the design. The blue modern flat paneled cabinets was a perfect choice to contras the very familiar gray scale color scheme but it’s still compliments it since blue is in the correct cold color spectrum. Notice the great black windows and the fantastic awning window facing the pool. The awning window is great to be able to serve the exterior sitting area near the pool. Opening the wall also allowed us to compliment the kitchen with a nice bar/island sitting area without having an actual island in the space. The best part of this kitchen is the large built-in pantry wall with a tall wine fridge and a lovely coffee area that we built in the sitting area made the kitchen expend into the breakfast nook and doubled the area that is now considered to be the kitchen.

The sunken island has lighting, a fire pit, and a bridge connecting it to the decking area. There is an infinity edge on one edge of the pool. The pool also has an in-floor cleaning system to keep it clean and sanitary. The swimming pool also has the ability to change colors at night utilizing the amazing LED lighting system. The pool and spa exposed aggregate finish is French Gray color. The slide that cascades down the grotto is custom built. We created this pool ourselves with a block construction, internally rendered and then a liner; the results are fantastic and a liner comes with warranty, and when in the future it has to be replaced, it can be done so for a fraction of the cost of most typical pool repairs. The frame less glass helps to keep a small space open. The wide board spotted gum gives a luxurious feel to the large undercover dining area.

Considering the size limitations of the pool, instead of having a traditional deep end, Betz built a wedge-shaped bottom with a depth of 3’ at the steps to just over 5’ at the main drain. This gentle slope allows bathers to swim, walk the full length, tread water or jump into the pool.

With an existing pool and retaining walls, we took this space and made it more modern offering many various spaces for lounging, enjoying the fire, listening to the water feature and an upper synthetic turf area for playing games. It is complete with bluestone pavers, a modern water feature and reflecting pool, a raised ipe deck, synthetic turf, glass railings, a modern, gas fire bowl and a stunning cedar privacy wall!

The floors are white wood look a like ceramic tiles and gray matching wood look a like tile baseboards. The center piece of the whole bathroom is the shower, using vertical chevron style tile gives the feeling of space and at the same time the chevron shape adds depth. for the accent of the shower unit we used mosaic 3D shapes of limestone tile and to finish it off a stainless steel hidden drain and a Hansgrohe shower system. The open section of patio at the centre serves as a children’s play area as does the pool’s adjoining 6’ x 10’ tanning shelf with its depth of one foot. The patio is acid etched concrete interspersed with inserts of artificial turf. This concrete finish mimics the look of limestone without having natural stone’s tendency for staining.

The Grange, a family community center is in the heart of The Meadows Community, located in Castle Rock, CO. The community center has an aquatics playground that features a zero depth entry pool attached to a raised slide pool that was built 38 inches above grade. If splashing around isn’t your thing, we also built a calmly cohesive lap pool that sits adjacent from the aquatic playground.
