This waterfront recording cottage is a remarkable feat of engineering and design, built in just nine months, despite the challenges posed by its location on an island with limited vehicular access. Our team worked closely with an Architect, Landscape Architect, Studio Designer & Audio Visual team to create a space that is truly one of a kind. The cottage features a sound isolated live room and an isolation booth that are fully equipped with top-of-the-line recording equipment. The recording space is fully integrated with multi-room control, enabling the user to monitor the recording process from any room in the cottage. In addition, it is equipped with two kitchenettes, one and a half baths and a state-of-the-art Lutron lighting system, adding ambiance to the space, and setting the right mood for the musicians. The result of this custom build is a recording studio that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, providing the perfect space for creativity.

This project was driven by a commitment to sustainability and repurposing existing materials, seamlessly blending the old with the new while minimizing waste. The goal was to transform the backyard into a lush garden oasis with a low-water and low-maintenance design. Despite challenges posed by the property's proximity to the golf course and specific guidelines, a harmonious integration of desert plant life and low-water lush plants was achieved. Reusing existing materials and replacing natural grass with synthetic turf minimized water usage, while strategic plant placement utilized run-off water for sustainable irrigation. Navigating the constraints imposed by the Country Club, the project created a cohesive outdoor space and repurposed cobblestones to bridge the gap between the golf course and the rear of the property. This project achieved a balance between ecological consciousness and aesthetic beauty, allowing the garden oasis to coexist harmoniously with the golf course backdrop, providing the clients with a serene and vibrant landscape that aligns with their vision and respects the natural resources of the community.

A young couple that relocated to Boston were eager to transform their duplex into a cozy and luxurious haven, to ease some pressure on their hectic lives. We worked together to balance their distinctive tastes - a blend of modern elegance from Singapore and rich traditions from South Carolina. Despite the duplex’s limited space, we skillfully maximized every inch without compromising on an open and airy feel. Our attention to detail allowed us to overcome the challenges posed by the limited space in their duplex. We managed to optimized every square inch while ensuring that the home still felt spacious. From clever storage solutions to strategic furniture placement we were able to mend functionality with style while never compromising on that open and airy feel. We wanted to bring the sense of luxury into the home, to make it feel like a space where the young couple could relax once the work day had finished. We chose luxurious textures and carefully selected materials and products to create an ambiance that evoked comfort and tranquility. The home showcases the couple’s shared vision, with each room telling a unique story of their journey, heritage and personal style. We are so happy to have been able to create this couples dream of a cozy and luxurious haven. A place where they could relax and let go of the demands of their busy lives!

The Casa Cava Project's bathroom posed a budget challenge, pushing the design-build couple to focus on shape and form over expensive materials. They chose arcs as the theme to create a softer and more inviting space, inspired by the contrast between rectilinear man-made structures and the natural world's curves. This typical 1980͛s master bath was a 5͛ x 8͛ foot space with a single vanity, small, angled shower and modest linen closet. The homeowner͛s desire was to have two sinks, a soaking tub, shower and toilet all in the same 5͛ x 8͛ space. This certainly posed a design challenge. Deleting the linen closet and relocating the toilet allowed for a ͚wet room͛ design concept. This enabled the homeowner͛s to incorporate both a soaking tub and a tile shower with a frameless glass enclosure. A sliding barn door replaced the old existing inswing door making room for his & her vanities opposite each other. The 12 x 24 porcelain tile covers the bath floor and wraps the shower walls to the ceiling. This adds visual depth to this small space. A glass and metal hexagon accent band create a pop of color and texture in the shower. This bath was made complete with Cambria Bellingham quartz countertops, glass vessel bowls and coordinating glass knobs on the vanity cabinetry. 205 Photography

A home built on one of Canada's most beautiful lakes posed a design challenge. The home had originally been built almost directly in opposition to natural light and views to the lake. While most opinions were to tear the existing home down, BLDG Workshop worked closely with the client to recreate the home in a way that opened it up and became more fitting to the site.

This area posed a unique challenge with it's narrow dimensions and sharp angles. We were able to work with this shape and create drawers, shelves, hanging rods and shoe storage.

This closet posed as a challenge with multiple odd angles. This closet system gave a great way to utilize the space at a great price point.

This home doesn’t just look great - it’s actually a NET ZERO READY HOME. What does that mean? Well, net zero ready homes are built to be extremely energy efficient. Meaning it’s sealed well, it’s easy to heat and keep cool, it’s air tight, and features water saving systems and energy efficient appliances. Those big windows are an incredible feature, but posed a bit of a challenge. In the winter, they’re great, and will provide lots of solar gain. But in the summer that will put pressure on the A/C - so to counteract that, the OakWood team increased the amount of insulation behind the walls, increased the airtightness of the home AND installed triple pane windows with blinds to keep the solar gain out during the summer.

Complete with an adjacent room with a large tasting table and space to entertain, this homeowner thought of it all! This unique Custom wine room in a gorgeous neighborhood in the La Jolla and Del Mar region in sunny San Diego, California is an art piece in itself surrounded by even more art pieces. The Wine Room Construction entailed unique custom fitted racking, tiering down from about ten feet on one end of the room to just below eight feet on the other. Producing high quality wine racking for a cellar like this is no easy feat, but that is exactly what the wine cellar builders and team at vintage cellars do best! The glass front and custom wine cellar door, highlighted with metal framing in an interesting checkered pattern throughout, also posed a unique challenge within this wine cellar space. Glass walls, although absolutely stunning, can reduce the cooling capabilities within the wine room itself- simply due to the non insulating properties of glass. Whenever glass is utilized within a custom wine cellar, we always make sure to install dual paned thermal insulated glass. Within the wine cellar itself, The racking is made of all heart redwood with a clear finish, with single deep individual bottle storage above a high reveal display row and double deep bottle storage below. The amount of custom and unique features in this gorgeous custom wine cellar in La Jolla are almost too numerous to count! Take a closer peek and you will notice that the walls are covered with a custom redwood paneling with custom moldings throughout. This project, located within the Camino Del Mar 'beach community', posed an interesting challenge. The project sits within the low lying areas of the San Dieguito River flood plain which required that the building finished floor be set at an elevation 7'-0" above the existing grade. Our goal in dealing with the flood plain requirements and the floor area restrictions was to create a simple, efficient plan that would maximize light, air and privacy, as well as have a strong connection between indoor and outdoor living. We have chosen durable materials appropriate to the neighborhood context that would perform well under a marine environment and satisfy the client's desire for an "autheticity of materials" with a contemporary aesthetic.

This full first-floor renovation transformed a family home in Northwest Indiana, originally built in the early 2000s, into a personalized, highly functional space that better reflects the lifestyle and taste of its four residents. The remodel included the kitchen, living room, a reimagined dining room turned sitting room, office, mudroom, and laundry room. The clients’ main objective was to move beyond dated, builder-grade finishes and create a home that felt curated, warm, and distinctive—infused with layered textures, custom details, and a sense of ease. The living room posed the biggest design challenge, with awkward furniture placement due to two structural columns. We used these features to anchor a revised layout, integrating custom built-ins for storage and balance, and adding mixed metals and refined textures for visual depth. A former dining room was transformed into a moody sitting room—contrasting the neutral palette used throughout the rest of the main floor, while still complementing it. The mudroom was reworked from a tight, underutilized space into a practical, polished drop zone with custom cabinetry and stylish utility. Throughout the renovation, our team focused on improving flow, enhancing functionality, and blending each room’s unique character into a cohesive, elevated whole—resulting in a home that’s as livable as it is beautifully tailored.
