Movin on up from the tract homes of the Valley to the Ranch takes a shift in mindset, yet this couple also wanted to keep it real and practical for their growing family, house full of pets, and casual lifestyle. Inspired by a modern farmhouse aesthetic, this home was taken down to the bones and updated with a personal style of comfortable elegance while keeping the kids in mind.

A hip young family moving from Boston tackled an enormous makeover of an antique colonial revival home in downtown Larchmont. The kitchen area was quite spacious but benefitted from a small bump out for a banquette and additional windows. Navy blue island and tall cabinetry matched to Benjamin Moore’s Van Deusen blue is balanced by crisp white (Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace) cabinetry on the perimeter. The mid-century inspired suspended fireplace adds warmth and style to the kitchen. A tile covered range hood blends the ventilation into the walls. Brushed brass hardware by Lewis Dolan in a contemporary T-bar shape offer clean lines in a warm metallic tone.
White Marble countertops on the perimeter are balanced by white quartz composite on the island. Kitchen design and custom cabinetry by Studio Dearborn. Countertops by Rye Marble. Refrigerator--Subzero; Range—Viking French door oven--Viking. Dacor Wine Station. Dishwashers—Bosch. Ventilation—Best. Hardware—Lewis Dolan. Lighting—Rejuvenation. Sink--Franke. Stools—Soho Concept. Embarking on a garage remodeling project is a transformative endeavor that can significantly enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of the space.
By investing in tailored storage solutions such as cabinets, wall-mounted organizers, and overhead racks, one can efficiently declutter the area and create a more organized storage system. Flooring upgrades, such as epoxy coatings or durable tiles, not only improve the garage's appearance but also provide a resilient surface.
Adding custom workbenches or tool storage solutions contributes to a more efficient and user-friendly workspace. Additionally, incorporating proper lighting and ventilation ensures a well-lit and comfortable environment.
A remodeled garage not only increases property value but also opens up possibilities for alternative uses, such as a home gym, workshop, or hobby space, making it a worthwhile investment for both practicality and lifestyle improvement.

This kitchen is definitely not an eye sore. The clean look can be attributed to the many multi-purpose drawers and cabinets that enable for easy storage. There is a space for every kitchen tool, including drawer racks for glasses. The built-in pantry is fantastic for keeping groceries organized.

The sleek barbecue is practical as well as stylish. A long granite counter top with a waterfall edge gives you all the space you could ever need with plenty of storage for tools and charcoal. The wood detail is repeated in the trellis and adjoining gate.

Complete your room with a luxurious corner closet for him. Premier door finish, Coco palette with decorative molding detail and brushed chrome knob handles reflect a sophisticated taste and maturity. Glass-framed doors keep your suits and dress shirts displayed and protected from dust. Small top drawer finds home for ties, watches and belts, and taller drawers create plenty of room for your socks and undergarments. Simple, organized and classy, this custom corner closet will please a practical man with refined taste.

Our journey continues from last week where we began in the spa-like bathroom, around the curved wood slat wall, past the ample closet storage section to a showstopper of a space: a glass enclosed wine room. The sophisticated space elegantly displays a fine wine and whiskey collection on grooved, backlit floating shelves. These shelves provide both functionality and an upscale aesthetic, perfectly aligned with the room’s Mid-Century Modern design influence. The sleek black floor tiles echo those in the nearby bathroom, creating a sense of flow and visual contrast within the overall space. Natural wood slats from the shower and sauna areas continue into the wine room, adding warmth and texture to the modern, sleek lines. The glass enclosures complement similar features in the bathroom, maintaining a cohesive design language throughout the basement. The use of natural materials, clean lines, and thoughtful lighting makes this wine room not only a visual highlight but also a practical space for storage and display. With its refined aesthetic, this wine room is designed with luxury and practicality in mind, and is more than a storage solution—it’s a statement. Our homeowners are so pleased we could create a high-end, timeless space for them to enjoy for many years to come. Next week we will focus on the family entertainment area of the basement remodel. Keep following for more inspiration!

Architecture and Interior Designing has evolved significantly over the years in response to changing lifestyles, rapid urbanisation, and technological advancements. Today, the focus is no longer just on creating visually appealing spaces, but on designing environments that are intelligent, adaptable, sustainable, and deeply human-centric. Elite 18 reflects this evolution through a modern residential narrative that balances functionality, comfort, and emotional well-being.
Designed by Sandeep & Shreya Sahani, the project responds thoughtfully to the demands of contemporary urban living. As cities continue to grow denser, architecture is increasingly shifting towards smarter planning and efficient use of space. Compact yet breathable layouts, multifunctional areas, and vertical living concepts are becoming essential in modern residential developments. At Elite 18, the design approach embraces openness, fluidity, and practicality, ensuring that spaces remain functional while maintaining a sense of luxury and calm.
Changing lifestyles have also transformed the way homes are designed. With remote work and flexible routines becoming part of everyday life, modern residences now require adaptable spaces that can seamlessly support work, leisure, and social interaction. The interiors at Elite 18 are curated with clean lines, soothing tones, and uncluttered layouts that enhance comfort while supporting modern living patterns.
Technology has further reshaped architecture by introducing smarter and more responsive environments. Contemporary buildings increasingly integrate smart lighting, climate control systems, touchless features, and digital planning tools to improve convenience and efficiency. This shift towards intelligent architecture allows spaces to become more personalised and responsive to user behaviour.
Sustainability has also become a defining aspect of modern architectural thinking. With growing environmental awareness and climate concerns, architects are prioritising energy efficiency, natural ventilation, climate-responsive materials, and sustainable construction practices. At Elite 18, strategic placement of openings, balanced natural light, and thoughtful material selection contribute to a more energy-efficient and comfortable indoor environment.
Overall, architecture today is evolving beyond aesthetics to create spaces that are adaptive, environmentally responsible, and emotionally enriching. Elite 18 stands as a reflection of this transformation, where thoughtful design, sustainability, technology, and modern lifestyles come together to shape the future of urban living.

Client Objectives
The homeowner wanted to transform an outdated primary bathroom into a larger, more functional space tailored to her daily routine. Storage for makeup, hair tools, and personal items was a top priority, along with creating a spacious shower experience and improving overall organization. The goal was to achieve a clean, elevated design that felt both luxurious and highly practical.
Our Solution
We expanded the bathroom by incorporating the adjacent closet space, creating a more open and functional layout. A custom vanity was designed with dedicated storage, integrated electrical outlets, and thoughtful organization features to keep everyday essentials neatly tucked away. The new design centers around a spacious walk-in shower and elevated finishes that bring comfort and convenience to daily life.
Special Features
Expanded bathroom footprint, custom vanity with makeup and hair tool organization, integrated drawer outlets, elevated vanity height, tile flooring, oversized walk-in shower with rainfall and handheld fixtures, custom glass enclosure, linear drain, towel warmer, upgraded ventilation vented to the exterior, potential heated flooring, and enhanced natural light opportunities through a skylight.

Custom dream garage complete with epoxy finished floor surface, maple wainscoting, slat wall storage system, custom steel shelving, custom mechanics cabinets and workbench, and new attic floor with drop down ladder access hatch. This unfinished original garage was overhauled to fit this homeowner's precise needs for tools, woodworking, seasonal storage, and of course parking. No detail was missed in customizing this space - who says practical can't also be beautiful?
