What could have been a bland, utilitarian space has been transformed with dark walnut wood, decorative interest and exceptional craftmanship. The suite of bespoke built-in cabinets has created a beautifully organised, multipurpose free-flowing space. Flawlessly spray finished in Inchyra Blue by Farrow & Ball, the dark blue green grey is a dramatic colour which, along with the walnut wood and striking artworks, makes a bold and confident impression. The Ultimate adjoining laundry flowing directly from the kitchen, it’s vital that the design is both practical and functional. Materials continue into this space with the exception of the splash back, the use of textured tiles in a herringbone pattern adds an extra eye-catching element to this desirable laundry space. Ample storage is necessary in your laundry, this space includes a combination of cupboards, overhead, drawers and bench top space, and the inclusion of tall cupboards allowing you to store brooms, mops and vacuum cleaners out of sight. Elements of blue that echo the outside connecting the kitchen and garden, allowing a free- flowing design and plenty of natural light, throw open the doors and straight onto the pool.

The most unique part of this home was the butler’s pantry housing an extra refrigerator, dishwasher and pantry storage. Client Objectives The homeowners were looking for a contractor that could help them convert their dreams a building a practice lake home, ideal for the pro fisherman on Lake Minnetonka into reality. They wanted a cozy home for family gatherings while also keeping the ability for resale an option. “I waited several years to find the right time and the right lot to build my lake home. After interviewing several contractors I turned to Jeff because he was able to take the plans that I had spent years working on and design something that fit my needs while also keep an eye on resale. I was impressed with his expertise and knowledge of Orono’s zoning regulations. In the end, we partnered together to build the lake home of my dreams.”

Completed in 2020, this impressive luxury estate was went through a complete renovation of the house and the entire property and gardens. This expansive estate creates a private oasis and retreat in the middle of Dallas. The estate includes a private lake with fountain features and stocked with fish, impressive entry gates, an expansive new driveway and front motor court arrival area, grand steps, stone retaining walls and a meandering path that wraps around the lake and offers a wonderful walking experience around the property. The gardens are spectacular and feature a variety of blooming shrubs, perennials and flowers to create a year round experience of color and texture for the owners. The perimeter of the property features mature privacy hedges and trees strategically placed to enhance the views from the house, while still providing glimpses into the property for the neighborhood. The existing swimming pool was completely renovated to create a tanning shelf for chaise lounges as well as a decorative tile, new plaster and canon fountain jets along the side to provide additional interest. The pool terrace, walkways and all exterior patios feature a beautiful limestone material that dresses up the outside living areas. Adjacent to the pool, the existing cabana structure was redone to create an outdoor kitchen and bar seating for friends and family. The wrap around porches on the backside of the house create inviting spaces for entertaining and offer incredible vistas overlooking the gardens and lake. In addition to the expansive garden areas, we planted dozens of mature and specimen trees throughout the property to help provide an instant impact and to also provide the garden another layer of beauty in the fall with the various fall colors offered by the tree selections. Along side the lake, we created multiple seating areas that offer the owners the opportunity to entertain and enjoy the property from many different angles and at different times of day. A large fire pit terrace was also included beside the lake creating a spectacular experience of water and fire. We also created recreation areas on the property for kids and adults alike. There is a dedicated playground areas with a large swing set for the kids as well as a new putting and chipping green to practice your short game.

The Origins Coffee Table has a classic Mid-Century Modern shape with maple and walnut patterned doors that make it pop in any living room. Solid walnut doors are available if preferred. The design of this piece was inspired by the iconic work of late furniture maker Sam Maloof who helped pioneer original Mid-Century style furniture. Mitered edge joints highlight the continuous grain that flows from the top of the piece down the side. With it’s great bones and amazing location, this seemed like a very sound investment for their future. Paola McDonald from Olamar Interiors had been working with the clients for the past three years, helping them to renovate their Sterling, VA condominium and their Moorefield, WV weekend home. It seemed fitting that they would also hire her to help them renovate this home as well. For this project we took the home down to the studs and practically rebuilt it. The renovation includes an addition to the basement level and main floor to create a new fitness room, additional guest bedroom and larger kitchen and dining area. It also included a renovation of the facade of the home. The exterior of the home was completely re-sided and painted, and we added the tall windows at the stairs. The lower entry deck was expanded and an upper deck was added just off the kitchen in order for the homeowner to keep his grill away from the strong ocean winds. A new deck was also added off of the master bedroom. New stainless steel railings were added to all the decks. We opened the homes stairwells, adding custom glass railings and new lighting to create a much more open feel and allow for natural light to flood the entire main living area. The original, tiny kitchen was expanded substantially, adding a large custom eat in bar, wine storage area and plenty of storage. We utilized Decora’s Marquis Cabinetry in an espresso finish to give the kitchen a very clean, contemporary feel. Carrara marble countertops paired with a grey quartz, single slap marble backsplash, and stainless appliances create a clean look. In the new dining area, a simple Modloft dining table was paired with a Regina Andrew bubbles chandelier and Jessica Charles dining chairs for a sophisticated feel accentuated perfectly by beachy colors and textures that tie in the beautiful views of the Ocean. In this project, our clients purchased an existing restaurant fraught with stormwater management issues on the property. Runoff from an adjacent state highway and parking lot regularly flooded the kitchen. Additionally, a man-made pond on the property had become a problematic breeding ground for mosquitos that virtually prohibited outdoor dining during the summer. Both challenges restricted the restaurant from operating at its fullest potential. Our design/build team’s goals were to address the water runoff and mosquito issues using environmentally and financially sustainable practices. Lowering the grades around the building and parking, we were able to direct the runoff into a dry streambed enriched with water-worn cobbles and river stones and planted banks. We addressed the mosquito problem by increasing the pond’s depth, adding an aeration system, and planting the banks with wildflowers. By raising the outdoor dining, guests now overlook the pond and pleasing landscape. Natural breezes at this higher level help alleviate mosquitosl.

What a fun project and what a beautiful home! This young growing family wanted high quality new cabinets throughout their new-build in Hinkley, MN. They had six spaces in the home that needed cabinetry and enlisted us here at The Cabinet Store to help! Not only did we help them with the design (much of it done efficiently long distance), but we were able to install all six rooms in one day! The homeowners wanted a transitional interior style for their home, a mix of modern and traditional. They wanted the overall look to be clean, contemporary, and warm. A mix of wood and painted cabinetry was the perfect fit to give off this polished, but cozy feel throughout the home. Selecting Showplace Wood’s Breckenridge door style throughout the whole home, and alternating the color tones (Soft Cream with Walnut glaze for some rooms and Cherry wood stained Coffee in other rooms), they got just what they wanted. In the new dining area, a simple Modloft dining table was paired with a Regina Andrew bubbles chandelier and Jessica Charles dining chairs for a sophisticated feel accentuated perfectly by beachy colors and textures that tie in the beautiful views of the Ocean. A custom chandelier from John Pomp is the highlight of the family room, particularly at night when it is reminiscent to fireflies in the sky. A new custom designed, custom made sectional, cozy newly added Spark Modern Fires gas fireplace, custom rug by Julie Dasher and Lee Industries chairs create a cozy place to lounge and watch television after a long day at the beach. Guests feel like they are in a luxurious boutique hotel complete with spectacular views, comfortable Ann Gish linens and beautiful and unique lighting fixtures. All three full baths and the powder room received complete facelifts with new glass, marble and ceramic tiles, Decora cabinetry, new lighting fixtures, quartz countertops and unique features that make unique statements in each one. Phillip Jeffries mica wallpaper are used in the entryway and family room fireplace walls to add a sandy texture to each space. Phillip Jeffries grasscloth was added to the master bedroom accent wall to create a delicate feature. New flooring throughout includes gorgeous dark stained hardwood floors, ceramic tile and Karastan carpeting in the bedrooms. The crisp white and grey walls are accentuated throughout the home by beach inspired turquoises, navies and lime greens. Primary Bedroom & Bathroom The new dormer created the opportunity for a true primary suite, giving the homeowners a private retreat complete with an ensuite bathroom and much-needed storage. The bathroom combines clean, timeless materials with carefully selected details that create a calming, spa-like atmosphere. Green paneling introduces a subtle pop of color, while warm wood tones, marble accents, and tonal subway tile add texture and warmth. Matching marble details at the shower niche, window, and curb create a cohesive look, and furniture-style cabinetry helps the vanity feel lighter within the space. Storage was a major priority throughout the design. A medicine cabinet, vanity, and built-in shelving behind the door provide generous organization without sacrificing the room’s open feel. Mixed metal finishes and traditional wall paneling tie the bathroom to the rest of the home while giving it its own unique personality. In the bedroom, custom built-in cabinetry maximizes storage while maintaining a furniture-inspired appearance. Thoughtfully designed shelving, hanging storage, and concealed outlets create practical organization, while detailed crown molding helps the cabinetry feel seamlessly integrated into the architecture. A new walk-in closet completes the suite, providing the dedicated storage the homeowners had been missing.
