This image shows the open concept of this multipurpose room. My client wanted a space that could transition from yoga studio in the morning, home office during the day and a family gathering place at night. They did not want a true fireplace in the room, so I designed a hidden storage area behind the stone wall with the mantel. On the right side, there are adjustable shelves that hide the printer, router and other needs of the home office. The left side, of the hidden storage, conceals the DVD, audio equipment, yoga videos and a pullout TV. Photo: Kimberly Chau For this home studio space for a very creative graphic designer and maker, she really wanted an all white space that should could then layer with color. Besides the color, she needed storage, since the room had none built in. So, I designed a built in cabinet that could store lots of art supplies and a large printer. She already had a desk with a birch finish that she wanted to use, so I included a birch counter in the all-white design of the built in to tie both pieces together. We selected the black light fixture and black and white cow print floor tiles for some additional interest. Finally, she layered in lots of color on the shelves and above her desk.

This home office is for general weekly desk tasks and calls by owner as well as tv watching with visiting children and grand children.

This home office was designed for 2 people with an extra pull-out workstation. Cabinetry is a combination of chocolate pearwood melamine with solid wood door drawer fronts stained to match melamine. Counter top High Pressure Laminate with solid wood bull-nose stained to match. Pull-out table for an additional work space with printer garage underneath. During demo of the kitchen (which is located on the other side of the left wall in the picture) we found some unused space under the stairs. To maximize storage for the owner, this cabinet was fabricated and installed in that space. Pullout shelves were added in the upper section with a docking drawer outlet so that the owner could place a printer inside the cabinet and have easy access to it.

A custom built home office built in shelving and cabinets in a dark wood stain to match the clients current home decor. Lighting runs up the shelving units to draw attention to the client's collection of personal display items. All of the office machines are behind the lower cabinets hidden away from view creating a beautiful, functional uncluttered working space.
