A young couple recently moved into a dated home with a cramped kitchen that provided no seating area. They wanted a fresh modern look on a slim budget that provided a great space for entertaining and would allow their two young boys to sit at the island while mom was busy in the kitchen. The previous kitchen had low ceilings and drab lighting, but we were able to raise the ceiling and maximize lighting in the space. Photo by Christopher Carter

We replaced all of the old smaller and out of date tile with new marble throughout, including these beautiful tile floors that mimic the same color as hardwoods to match the shower. These floors are more durable than hardwoods when water may be leaking over the shower or bathtub to prevent damage to hardwoods.

This original Master Bathroom was a room bursting at the seams with plate glass mirrors and baby pink carpet! The owner wanted a more sophisticated, transitionally styled space with a better functional lay-out then the previous space provided. The bathroom space was part of an entire Master Suite renovation that was gutted down to the studs and rebuilt piece by piece. The plumbing was all rearranged to allow for a separate toilet rooms, a freestanding soaking bathtub as well as separate vanities for ‘His’ and ‘Her’ and a large, shared steam shower. New windows fill the entire wall around the bathtub providing an abundance of natural daylight while hidden LED lights accent the mirrors when desired. Marble subway tile was chosen for the walls along with complementary, large marble floor tiles for a classic and timeless look. Custom vanities were designed with function in mind providing the homeowner various storage zones, some even hidden behind the vanity mirrors! The shared steam shower has marble walls, ceiling and floor and is accented by marble mosaic tiles. A marble bench seat and brackets, milled out of slab material to match the bathroom counters, provide the homeowners a place to relax when utilizing the steam function. His and Her shower heads and controls finish out the space.

After Unpacking and organizing magazine collection from 1950 to date they are now a proud centerpice in our clients home.

Her experience working with STARK was equally positive. “Hannah Duane and Lee Post were fantastic,” Jody said. She couldn’t have found them to be more professional. The timing of the custom rug, in particular, was especially important to her – and they took her very seriously. “When we give you a date, we mean the date,” they said – and they did! Hannah even went out of her way to come down to the street with samples when Jody just couldn’t find parking around the D&D Building.

The guest bathroom will be totally remodeled at a future date, but for now, I had it painted, added a glass shower door to prevent leaks of water to the lower floors, and commemorated the Second Battle of Trenton in the Artwork selected for the space. All door hardware in the New Jersey Suite was solid brass, and professionally polished and lacquered, except for the inside bath door knob, which was solid nickel. It too was professionally polished and lacquered at the Brass and Copper Polishing Shop, Frederick, MD.

This project focused on turning a dated basement into a vibrant entertainment and living space. We converted the existing dark laundry room into a modern galley kitchen with a pocket door to the library and TV room. The client wanted professional-grade appliances in a compact size.

This creative transitional space was transformed from a very dated layout that did not function well for our homeowners - who enjoy cooking for both their family and friends. They found themselves cooking on a 30" by 36" tiny island in an area that had much more potential. A completely new floor plan was in order. An unnecessary hallway was removed to create additional space and a new traffic pattern. New doorways were created for access from the garage and to the laundry. Just a couple of highlights in this all Thermador appliance professional kitchen are the 10 ft island with two dishwashers (also note the heated tile area on the functional side of the island), double floor to ceiling pull-out pantries flanking the refrigerator, stylish soffited area at the range complete with burnished steel, niches and shelving for storage. Contemporary organic pendants add another unique texture to this beautiful, welcoming, one of a kind kitchen! Photos by David Cobb Photography.

This Brookhaven kitchen was designed to keep with the clean, traditional elegance the rest of the home portrayed. The white lace finish and passageway to the living room opened up the space and allowed for additional natural light to flow in. The granite countertops and tile backsplash in neutral colors added subtle touches of dimension and warmth while keeping with feel of the space. Professional, stainless steel appliances continued to add a up-to-date styling with matching hardware. Designed by Ashley Kasper, AKBD. Photography by Laura Minor.

Born of 100% steel, this Sub-Zero model is a true masterpiece of preservation. Its glass door, sculpted metal, dual refrigeration with three evaporators and advanced controls marry performance and design in a bold new way for home refrigeration. So it not only keeps foods magnificently fresh, it brings the whole kitchen tastefully up to date.

These deep hardwood floors help to open up the space and balance out the light neutral accents found throughout the room.
