This 1990's home, located in North Vancouver's Lynn Valley neighbourhood, had high ceilings and a great open plan layout but the decor was straight out of the 90's complete with sponge painted walls in dark earth tones. The owners, a young professional couple, enlisted our help to take it from dated and dreary to modern and bright. We started by removing details like chair rails and crown mouldings, that did not suit the modern architectural lines of the home. We replaced the heavily worn wood floors with a new high end, light coloured, wood-look laminate that will withstand the wear and tear from their two energetic golden retrievers. Since the main living space is completely open plan it was important that we work with simple consistent finishes for a clean modern look. The all white kitchen features flat doors with minimal hardware and a solid surface marble-look countertop and backsplash. We modernized all of the lighting and updated the bathrooms and master bedroom as well. The only departure from our clean modern scheme is found in the dressing room where the client was looking for a more dressed up feminine feel but we kept a thread of grey consistent even in this more vivid colour scheme. This transformation, featuring the clients' gorgeous original artwork and new custom designed furnishings is admittedly one of our favourite projects to date!

This Brookhaven kitchen was designed to keep with the clean, traditional elegance the rest of the home portrayed. The white lace finish and passageway to the living room opened up the space and allowed for additional natural light to flow in. The granite countertops and tile backsplash in neutral colors added subtle touches of dimension and warmth while keeping with feel of the space. Professional, stainless steel appliances continued to add a up-to-date styling with matching hardware. Designed by Ashley Kasper, AKBD. Photography by Laura Minor.

A dated laundry was room transformed into a beautiful second kitchen with a new pocket door to the library and hallway. Small sized professional grade appliances and floating shelves make the narrow galley more open. Silestone countertops from recycled materials and custom cabinetry complete the look.

While working within the existing kitchen footprint, the flow as studied carefully for both form and function to provide the homeowners the type of storage they need with the look they want. This is an example of the outstanding qualities of a professional installer. The client requested to re-use an old swing out pantry taken from their old kitchen. The installer was able to round out the shelving to accommodate the swing out pantry. It may look dated, but works beautifully!!

We replaced all of the old smaller and out of date tile with new marble throughout, including the shower pan which we laid new marble tile over as well as the ceiling of the shower to give it a more modern look. We also built in the soap bar and custom bench to match the shower.

Emily and Steve were tired of their dark and dated kitchen and wanted a look that was modern, bright with little changes from their original layout. They decided to use Mayflower because of our history of professionalism and the quality of our projects.
