Our clients wanted to create a backyard that would grow with their young family as well as with their extended family and friends. Entertaining was a huge priority! This family-focused backyard was designed to equally accommodate play and outdoor living/entertaining.
The outdoor living spaces needed to accommodate a large number of people – adults and kids. Urban Oasis designed a deck off the back door so that the kitchen could be 36” height, with a bar along the outside edge at 42” for overflow seating. The interior space is approximate 600 sf and accommodates both a large dining table and a comfortable couch and chair set. The fire pit patio includes a seat wall for overflow seating around the fire feature (which doubles as a retaining wall) with ample room for chairs.
The artificial turf lawn is spacious enough to accommodate a trampoline and other childhood favorites. Down the road, this area could be used for bocce or other lawn games. The concept is to leave all spaces large enough to be programmed in different ways as the family’s needs change.
A steep slope presents itself to the yard and is a focal point. Planting a variety of colors and textures mixed among a few key existing trees changed this eyesore into a beautifully planted amenity for the property.

The stair from the deck leads to the yard. Steel wire adds function and openness to the space while greenery softens and enlivens the outdoor deck and yard. A tenant apartment has easy access to the yard..

This 3,300 sqft building serves as a spectator pavilion for the new recreation fields in Florence, Massachusetts. Prior to the town purchasing the land for public recreation, the fields had been farmland for over a century. The form of the pavilion references the agricultural history of the site, as well as the outdoor nature of the program, by taking a modern approach to a classic New England barn.
The pavilion provides a strong, quiet backdrop for the activity on the fields, and offers shelter and seating for the players and spectators gathered there. Strung between each pier is a built-in bench, providing spectator seating, and—on the side facing the parking lot—seating for those waiting to be picked up.
Spatially, the building explores the ability of modular forms to read as both solid and void.

A high contrast color palette of black, white and gray keeps this bedroom modern and fresh with just a touch of eye-catching yellow. Vitrea's VTouch Plus system enables these homeowners to open and close the curtains, turn on lights, control the temperature and more. What's even better is with a press of the button, the owners can activate pre-programmed scenarios for 'reading time', 'romance', 'wake up' and more.

Spacious and bright, the formal dining room features a substantial millwork program including Doric cornice, attic base moulding, distinctive casings, and paneled wainscoting summoning the pageantry of Victorian era mansions without the stuffiness.
